Gu Weiwei smiled and shook her head, then sat down, supporting her lower back, and took a sip of the sweet fruit tea.
"I was once confused about this question myself, but I found the answer after meeting your brother."
"Confused?"
Fu Shiyi scratched his head, somewhat unable to figure out what she meant.
“I came to the Gu family when I was one year old. In those twenty-odd years, he was the one I spent the most time with.” Gu Weiwei looked down at the tea in the glass and said, “Back then, I trusted him and even depended on him, but I never felt love. Even when he said he liked me, I was happy for him, but I didn’t feel… my heart flutter.”
All of this came about after she met Fu Hanzheng, fell in love with him, and witnessed the true nature of love, finally finding a clear answer.
Fu Shiyi asked with a smile, "So, my brother said he likes you, and he was ever interested in you?"
Her feelings for Gu Siting at that time were too complicated. They were like relatives but not blood relatives. So when Gu Siting told her he liked her at the Gu family, she was confused about whether it was love.
But all of that vanished with her death at the hands of Gu Siting and Ling Yan.
Gu Weiwei did not answer his question, but the smile on her face spoke volumes.
"Did my brother... ask you this question too?" Fu Shiyi asked.
Gu Weiwei shook her head. "He didn't ask."
Logically speaking, this is the question that Fu Hanzheng should have asked her the most.
However, neither the day she confessed to him nor afterwards, Fu Hanzheng ever asked her that question.
"Didn't he ask?" Fu Shiyi raised an eyebrow and muttered, "That shouldn't be the case. With my brother's jealousy level, he gets incredibly jealous of people like you and Anthony Gustave, or Qin Lu, who have nothing to do with each other. You've known Gu Siting for so many years, how could he not ask a single question?"
"Probably because he's certain that he's the only one I love." Gu Weiwei smiled and took a sip of tea, exuding confidence and composure.
If you ask him, it means he's unsure about their relationship.
Fu Hanzheng never asked about anything she had done for the Gu family.
Firstly, he didn't want her to doubt their relationship because of his problems, and secondly, he knew that the Gu family was a past she didn't want to revisit.
Fu Shiyi and his friends used to laugh at his brother for having no emotional intelligence, but Fu Hanzheng always displayed textbook-level emotional intelligence when dealing with their relationship issues.
He would always put himself in her shoes and consider things from her perspective.
She once thought that her upbringing in the Gu family and being Carman Dorrance's daughter would be an insurmountable barrier between them.
This matter had troubled her for a long time, making it difficult for her to talk to him about her past. But when the day finally came, she found that everything was not as cruel as she had imagined.
This man didn't blame her or abandon her for all of this; instead, he genuinely felt sorry for her enduring all of this alone.
Fu Shiyi found it hard to refute her answer. His brother had truly given all the gentleness, patience, and tolerance he had ever shown to this woman he deeply loved.
"Is there anything else you want to ask?" Gu Weiwei asked with a smile.
“That’s all.” Fu Shiyi shook his head repeatedly.
I've asked all the questions I was curious about, so there's nothing else I'm curious about.
Gu Weiwei checked the time. "Want to come out with me?"
"Ah, for something like going out, I'd better let my brother accompany you," Fu Shiyi decisively refused.
She's heavily pregnant now. If anything happens to her when he takes her out, her brother will be in serious trouble.
Gu Weiwei stood up and said, "You have to go back too. Your brother can't go back, so we have to prepare a gift for your grandma."
Fu Hanzheng has been so busy these days that he hasn't had time to prepare.
