Luo Qianqian took the phone with trembling hands, glancing around guiltily.
"I...I was on a business trip to France and came here to pick up the things you left."
Didn't the people at that coffee shop say she left two days ago?
"Is that so?" Gu Yunche smiled faintly, it was unclear whether he believed her or not.
Anyway, even Luo Qianqian herself doesn't believe in herself.
Because it takes at least a day to get from China to France and then to Saint-Malo.
Therefore, it's absolutely impossible that they came here on the way after starting work.
"You...didn't you leave?" she asked cautiously.
"Did someone at the coffee shop tell you that?" Gu Yunche sat down on the bench.
Luo Qianqian nodded. "Yes, this morning they said you left two days ago."
"I was originally planning to leave, but something came up and I was delayed," Gu Yunche admitted.
However, he never dreamed that she would appear here.
Just now, he almost couldn't believe his eyes.
"Oh," Luo Qianqian replied.
Originally, she only wanted to retrieve what he left behind, see the scenery he had seen, and walk the paths he had walked; that would have been enough for her.
Unexpectedly, they bumped right into the original body, who hadn't had time to leave.
Moreover, he came up with such a lame excuse.
Gu Yunche didn't say anything more, and sat there quietly, watching the sunset over the sea with her.
As darkness fell, he asked.
"Have you eaten yet?"
“…No,” Luo Qianqian said.
Although she had eaten just over an hour ago, she seemed hungry again now.
"I know a good restaurant, want to try it?" Gu Yunche asked.
Now that he'd run into her, he couldn't possibly ignore her.
“Okay.” Luo Qianqian nodded and got up to follow him.
The restaurant is located in the old town of Saint-Malo, where the local government strictly prohibits vehicles from driving in order to protect historical sites.
So they walked all the way there.
Although the journey was quite long, she enjoyed it very much.
Although Gu Yunche knew that she couldn't have come over on the side because of her work, he didn't expose her flawed explanation. Instead, he asked her questions.
How many days are you planning to stay here?
"I'm not sure yet. I just want to see the scenery here and maybe find some inspiration for my writing," Luo Qianqian said, offering a plausible reason.
Gu Yunche thought for a moment in silence, then spoke.
"If you don't mind, I can be your guide?"
"Don't you have your own things to do?" Luo Qianqian asked.
She was naturally happy that he was there to be her guide.
However, I didn't want to cause him any trouble by coming over on a whim.
“It’s nothing special. I quite like this place, so I’ll just treat it as a return visit,” Gu Yunche said.
Upon hearing this, Luo Qianqian felt a surge of secret joy.
"Then I'll rely on you to guide me, Mr. Guide."
At first, I thought, and I thought so too, that it was crazy of me to rush to San Malo on a whim.
But now she feels it was the best decision she ever made.
Fortunately, she came; fortunately, he didn't leave; fortunately... they met.
"You're welcome." Gu Yunche said, then pointed ahead and said, "The restaurant is over there."
Luo Qianqian glanced at the restaurant's sign; it wasn't a particularly famous French restaurant.
However, the restaurant seems to be quite old.
Gu Yunche seems to live up to his name, always having a fondness for ancient things and places.
