Gu Siting left her room and stood outside the door, unable to hold back the tears welling up in his eyes.
After a long while, he finally composed himself and went to see the person in charge of the experiment.
"Mr. Gu, how did Miss Weiwei react?"
"It seems she... has forgotten everything that has happened in the past few years. Isn't there still one more experiment planned?" Gu Siting asked in surprise.
The experiment leader looked at the data on the tablet. "This experiment mainly depends on an individual's physical condition and willpower. In previous experiments, some people did reach their goals earlier than planned..."
Gu Siting nodded thoughtfully, "Then do we need to conduct another experiment?"
"If you want her memories to go back to an earlier time, you can do it again," the experiment leader said.
Gu Siting thought for a long time, "Let's observe for a while and see how things go for now."
Actually, he is already very satisfied with her current state.
If it were to happen again, who knows when her memories would return.
"Okay." The person in charge of the experiment did not try to persuade him further.
"She's still staying here. If you run into her, just say she's a researcher on a company project. Don't reveal too much," Gu Siting solemnly instructed.
"I'll go and tell my men right away."
The person in charge of the experiment nodded slightly and quickly went down to instruct his subordinates to keep quiet.
Gu Siting went to his room where he was staying temporarily, took care of some company business, and then went to knock on Gu Weiwei's door.
Gu Weiwei had already changed her clothes and opened the door to ask.
"Are you going to eat?"
"Mm." Gu Siting nodded.
Gu Weiwei came out of the house and silently followed him away. After walking for a while, she realized that they were not in the Gu family home, but rather in a research center.
"Where...is this place?"
“It’s an important research base for the company’s projects, and I’ll be staying here for a while,” Gu Siting said, leading her to the rooftop garden restaurant.
Huge floor-to-ceiling windows allow ample sunlight to stream in, and the flowers and plants are all meticulously trimmed, filling the entire restaurant with a delicate floral fragrance.
Gu Siting pulled out a chair for her with great gentlemanly manners, and only after she was seated did he sit down opposite her and call for the food.
The exquisite French cuisine is a Western-style meal that the Gu family has always preferred.
The waiter served the meal and inquired.
"Mr. Gu, would you like some wine?"
Gu Siting thought for a moment and then said.
"Give me a glass of red wine, and give Weiwei a glass of warm water."
Gu Weiwei pursed her lips, blinked, and said.
"I want to drink too."
“You just took your medicine.” Gu Siting politely declined her request.
Gu Weiwei sighed regretfully, picked up the bowl of water the waiter brought her, and took a sip.
Then, they buried their heads in their food and ate in silence.
"Are you going out again soon?" Gu Siting asked.
Given the circumstances at that time, she would usually only stay for a few days after returning before leaving again.
Gu Weiwei was silent for a moment, then smiled faintly.
"Mother Gu asked me to come back. It's your birthday, so you can leave after it's over," Gu Weiwei said.
"Thank you for coming back." Gu Siting said this to Gu Weiwei of the past, and also to Gu Weiwei of the present.
I was unable to say thank you to her back then, but after so many years, I'm finally able to say it.
Gu Weiwei looked at him strangely, "Brother Siting, is... something wrong?"
"Why do you ask that?" Gu Siting smiled gently and elegantly.
"I feel like... you're acting a little strange today," Gu Weiwei said, expressing her concern.
