Gu Weiwei glanced at the nervous look on the family's faces and said with a forced laugh.
"No, it's just that my period came late, so I took a test to be sure."
"Really not?" Madam Fu pressed.
Gu Weiwei smiled helplessly, "Really, no, Mom."
Madam Fu patted her chest and turned to glare at Dengdeng.
"She's not fully recovered yet. If you get your wife pregnant again, I'll teach you a lesson."
Fu Hanzheng also breathed a sigh of relief. He was more nervous than anyone else. The birth of Youyou and Tiantian had already scared him half to death. He never wanted to experience something like this again.
Since he already had a son and a daughter with his first child, he had no intention of having any more children.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Madam Fu continued to scold him in a low voice.
"You only care about yourself. You had a C-section for your first child, and now you're pregnant again. Doesn't that make everyone suffer?"
"Mom, we've always been very careful," Gu Weiwei said with a smile.
Madam Fu, however, did not believe it. "He's already being careful, why are you still testing this?"
There must have been times when she wasn't careful about using contraception, which is why she took the test after the initial delay.
Gu Weiwei really didn't want to discuss this topic anymore, so she quickly asked.
"Is dinner ready? I'm hungry."
Madam Fu then stopped scolding Fu Hanzheng and got up to urge the kitchen servants to prepare the meal.
After she left, Fu Hanzheng asked Gu Weiwei in a low voice.
"Are you sure you're not pregnant after the test?"
"I've tested it three times, and I still don't know?" Gu Weiwei said softly after finishing her sentence.
Youyou and Tiantian had worked so hard to get pregnant before, and this time they only didn't use a condom once during their safe period, so they got pregnant.
She was just a little worried, so she bought it to check it out.
Fu Hanzheng was finally relieved. Fortunately, it was just a false alarm. Otherwise, if she had really gotten pregnant, it would have been like testing her body by giving birth, and if she didn't give birth, she would have suffered.
Either way, it worried him.
After hearing from Gu Weiwei that she wasn't pregnant, Fu Shengying didn't join the conversation and focused on playing games with her grandchildren.
Madam Fu came out quickly and said.
"Dinner is ready, you can eat now."
Fu Shengying picked up Tian Tian and said, "Let's go wash our hands."
Fu Hanzheng then picked up Youyou and took her to wash her hands before carrying them to the restaurant for dinner.
Gu Weiwei sat down at the table before asking the question.
"Where is the second young master? Isn't he coming back today?"
"His girlfriend finished filming and is returning to the capital today. I went to pick her up at the airport," Madam Fu said.
Gu Weiwei nodded, continued eating, and took a sip of soup before speaking.
"Mom, did you make this soup today?"
Madam Fu chuckled, "Only you in the family can tell the difference; the rest of us can't tell the good from the bad."
She occasionally makes soup, usually having the maid make it, but the family members often can't tell whether it's her soup or the maid's.
"Your cooking will be more flavorful; you can taste the difference as soon as you drink it," Gu Weiwei said with a smile.
Mrs. Fu smiled broadly, "If you like, Mom will often make it for you."
"No need, just cook it once every ten days or so. Even the best food gets boring if you eat it every day. It's enough to satisfy our cravings occasionally," Gu Weiwei said.
Madam Fu knew that she was acting out of filial piety and didn't want her to overwork herself, but she still agreed.
After having dinner, Gu Weiwei waited for the two children to take a bath and go to bed before returning to the master bedroom to wash up.
She was brushing her teeth in the bathroom when Fu Hanzheng came in and put something in the small drawer of the sink.
She reached into the drawer, glanced at it, and was so angry her eyebrows almost stood on end. She spat out the toothpaste foam from her mouth and asked...
Why did you put it here?
"It's better to be prepared," Fu Hanzheng said.
