As Kaman Dorrance began to regain consciousness, his attending physician, the hospital's director and vice-director all rushed over shortly afterward.
Seeing this, Yuan Meng asked Gu Weiwei, "Should we call Fu Hanzheng?"
"He came over as soon as he finished his work," Gu Weiwei said.
Calling him over at this time is pointless; he's not a doctor and can't help much, and it would only delay his work.
Nearly two hours later, Fu Hanzheng finished his work and came over. Kaman Dorrance had already woken up.
Although he was still unable to speak due to being in a coma for several days, he was able to open his eyes and recognize people. He was quite surprised to see Gu Weiwei, and finally smiled sincerely, with tears glistening in his eyes.
Gu Weiwei sat by the hospital bed, looked at the person on the bed and smiled, her nose feeling a little sore.
Then, she took a gauze pad, dipped it in water, and moistened his lips, saying...
"The doctor said you can't drink water yet, you have to take it slowly."
Kaman Dorrance nodded slightly, looking at her intently with a pleased smile in his eyes.
He never expected that the first person he would see when he opened his eyes would be her, and he certainly never expected that she would come to Rome.
Fu Hanzheng came over to say hello, then stood silently behind Gu Weiwei, occasionally helping to hand her a cup.
Soon, Yuan Shuo also arrived at the hospital upon hearing the news and moved a chair to sit on the other side of the hospital bed.
"You old sage, you've finally woken up! We were so worried about you."
Kaman glanced at him, but couldn't say anything for the moment because his throat was dry and hoarse.
She glanced at him, then at Gu Weiwei and Fu Hanzheng, her brows furrowed, clearly annoyed that he shouldn't have bothered them like that.
Yuan Shuo understood the meaning and raised an eyebrow.
"Is it my fault for calling them here?"
“Do you know you almost went to see God? Oh, no, I guess you were the kind who went to see Satan.” Yuan Shuo scolded Kaman while explaining, “I called her over because I thought maybe you hadn’t seen her get married yet, and you didn’t want to die. At the very least, I wanted to send you off on your final journey.”
"Now you're blaming me for disturbing them? You should at least wake up sooner! That couple has been stuck here for so many days, and their two kids are crying and screaming at home. Do you know how hard that is for them?"
...
"Yuan Shuo!" Gu Weiwei interrupted his seemingly endless rant in a low voice.
Kaman Dorrance looked apologetically at Gu Weiwei and Fu Hanzheng. To be honest, he was genuinely happy to see them there when he opened his eyes.
However, upon hearing that they had left their two children behind to stay here, he felt guilty.
“They weren’t crying that hard. Yuan Shuo is exaggerating. It’s good that you’re awake,” Gu Weiwei said with a smile.
Yuan Shuo, however, did not miss the opportunity to criticize Kaman Dorrance, "I'm not exaggerating. It's almost the New Year, and you left your child behind to come and take care of him for so many days. He slept for so long before waking up, and you still think you shouldn't have come."
The more he spoke, the more guilty Kaman felt. His pale lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he could only utter hoarse sounds.
"You can't speak yet, don't force yourself," Gu Weiwei said helplessly, glaring at Yuan Shuo.
Kaman Dorrance could only give up for the time being and silently lay on the hospital bed watching Gu Weiwei and Fu Hanzheng.
In fact, from the moment he sent her to the Gu family, he never dared to hope that he and his daughter would have a chance to reunite, let alone when she was by his bedside.
When he opened his eyes and saw her sitting in front of his hospital bed, looking at him with such anticipation, he thought for a moment that it was a dream, or that he was no longer alive.
