Chapter 2228 Determined Not to Be a Third Wheel

However, Gu Weiwei was clearly unaware of this problem, because these memories simply appeared in her mind naturally.

Fu Hanzheng looked at his wife, who was regretting not marrying him on their first trip to the Civil Affairs Bureau, with a smile and said with a light laugh.

"Although it's a little late, you are still Mrs. Fu."

There are no 'if only's in this world. Even if everything started over, the first time they stood at the Civil Affairs Bureau, she still wouldn't register their marriage.

Because at that time, she had not yet fallen in love with him, much less loved him enough to want to marry him.

"That's true." Gu Weiwei chuckled.

As the two were talking, Fu Shiyi returned and knocked on the door, bringing in lunch delivered from home with the help of a maid.

To make it easier to eat, the table was moved to the bedside.

Fu Hanzheng first served Gu Weiwei the vegetable porridge he had prepared, blew on it to cool it down a bit, and fed it to her.

And because she couldn't get up yet, we fed her very little at each bite, afraid she would choke.

However, due to her headache and medication, Gu Weiwei had little appetite and could only eat half a bowl before she couldn't eat anymore.

"I don't want to eat anymore, you can eat by yourself."

Fu Hanzheng didn't insist and put down his bowl to eat.

While eating, Fu Shiyi glanced at Gu Weiwei lying on the bed.

"Sister-in-law, you scared us to death. If something really happened to you, I was afraid my brother would commit suicide out of love."

Fu Hanzheng glanced at him sideways, "What did you say?"

“That’s right, the expression you had yesterday was just…” Fu Shiyi said a few words, then realized that he had said something unlucky that upset his brother, so he quickly said with a smile, “But it’s okay now, it’s good that you’re awake, sister-in-law, everyone’s happy, everyone’s happy.”

Gu Weiwei remained silent; she did not doubt what Fu Shiyi had said.

Although she knew that Fu Hanzheng must be very worried about what had happened to her, she was clearly oversimplifying things.

Fu Hanzheng took the cup, fed her a sip of water, and said gently.

"While the painkiller is still working, I'll get some more sleep."

"It still hurts, I can't sleep," Gu Weiwei mumbled.

Fu Hanzheng frowned. He wanted to make her feel better, but an overdose of morphine would be harmful. He didn't dare to disregard the consequences of an overdose just to make her feel better temporarily.

Seeing his worried expression, Gu Weiwei said, "But if you can sleep with me, I should be able to sleep a little longer."

Fu Shiyi pursed his lips, hurriedly ate a few mouthfuls of rice, cleared the table, and left the ward, determined not to be a third wheel again.

After finishing his meal, Fu Hanzheng went to the restroom to wash his face and change his clothes at her request.

Gu Weiwei glanced at the cot next to her and said, "You should go to sleep."

Fu Hanzheng sat down on the edge of the bed. "I'm not sleepy. I'll rest for a bit and stay with you."

"Right now, all I want to do is watch you sleep," Gu Weiwei said.

He must have been up all night since the accident; his eyes were bloodshot.

“I’m really not sleepy,” Fu Hanzheng said.

"I need to use the way you're sleeping to hypnotize myself, otherwise I can't sleep either, and I have a headache," Gu Weiwei said, distressed.

Fu Hanzheng couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he had to compromise.

"If you feel unwell, just call me."

After saying that, he went to lie down on the cot next to her as she asked, but he still lay on his side facing her.

Her seemingly capricious request was simply because she felt sorry for him not getting any rest all night, so she made him go to bed to rest.
