Ling Jiao waited until the coffee was served, then picked it up and took a small sip.
"Mrs. Fu, the new script you mentioned..."
Gu Weiwei took the latest version of the script out of her bag and showed it to her. Although inviting her out to talk about work was just an excuse, she still wanted to make it look decent.
"Some scenes have been added; you can take a look."
Ling Jiao took the script and read it for a while. "I think this scene is more impactful than the previous version, and the characters are more vivid."
Gu Weiwei smiled faintly and asked, forcing herself to speak.
"Ling Jiao, have you and the Second Young Master... thought about marriage?"
Ling Jiao was stunned for a moment, then smiled somewhat awkwardly.
"Well... I haven't thought about that yet."
Did they all not know that Fu Shiqin had another person he was in love with?
They're just pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend; how could they possibly have any plans to get married?
Gu Weiwei smiled gently and made the suggestion in a joking manner.
"Actually, we can consider it. We all look forward to you becoming part of the family."
Ling Jiao was slightly startled, then lowered her eyes and gently stirred the coffee in her cup with a spoon.
"He and I... we probably don't have that kind of fate."
The warmth and liveliness of their home was what she longed for, yet it was an unattainable dream for her.
"There's no such fate between us?"
The more Gu Weiwei listened, the more she felt that her relationship with Fu Shiqin was probably a fake one.
Previously, she had only felt that although Fu Shiqin and Ling Jiao were boyfriend and girlfriend, there was always a lack of spark between them. Meeting Ling Jiao today confirmed her guess.
Although the two are nominally boyfriend and girlfriend, Ling Jiao doesn't seem to have any intention of taking her relationship with Fu Shiqin further.
Ling Jiao snapped out of her daze and said with a smile.
"We're just boyfriend and girlfriend, but we're not suitable for marriage."
The Fu family, a wealthy and powerful clan, is not a family she can aspire to.
"How could you not be suitable? I think you two are quite compatible, and the Second Young Master likes you quite a bit," Gu Weiwei said with a smile.
"Me and the second young master..."
Ling Jiao swallowed her words halfway through; she decided it was best not to tell a third person the true nature of her relationship with Fu Shiqin.
"What... happened between you two?" Gu Weiwei thought for a moment, then leaned forward and asked quietly, "Is he not dating you, but just keeping you as a mistress?"
But Fu Shiqin clearly wanted to marry her, so this couldn't be the case.
“No, it’s that I’m not good enough for him,” Ling Jiao said bluntly.
Gu Weiwei found it amusing. "When it comes to relationships, there's no such thing as being worthy or unworthy; it's just a matter of love or not."
Ling Jiao smiled without saying a word, looking down at the script, unwilling to discuss matters of the heart any further.
When do you plan to start filming this movie?
Gu Weiwei thought for a moment, "We'll start preparing by the end of next year, and filming should begin the year after."
By then, Youyou and Tiantian should be starting kindergarten and won't be so clingy to her anymore.
“I will try to make time for that period,” Ling Jiao said, as she had a feeling that the film would be another masterpiece.
Sometimes, she really couldn't understand why this young female director, who was even younger than her, always had a unique perspective on filmmaking that others didn't.
"Thank you," Gu Weiwei said politely, "However, this role is for a professional dancer, so if possible, I hope you can learn some things in that area."
“Okay, I will stay for a while to study.” Ling Jiao did not refuse at all. After all, actors have to try their best to fit their roles so that the audience can watch without being confused.
Gu Weiwei could tell that Ling Jiao was reluctant to talk about her feelings, so she shifted the focus of the conversation to work.
The two chatted for several hours before Fu Shiqin arrived.
"Sister-in-law, my brother is off work and will be coming to pick you up soon."
