On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Ling Jiao had breakfast with Fu Shiqin at the Fu family's old house. Before leaving, she gave him the red envelopes she had received.
"Happy New Year."
"No need, only the children in our family receive New Year's money, adults don't," Fu Shiqin said.
He knew that she just didn't want the money and wanted to return it to him.
“You’re a kid too,” Ling Jiao said with a light laugh.
Fu Shiqin was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and accepted it.
"I'll use this New Year's money to treat you to something delicious later."
"Okay." Ling Jiao nodded with a smile and said goodbye to him as she went to see her agent.
Fu Shiqin was worried about her going alone, so he insisted on sending her there with him.
"The Yang family has given several interviews to the media, which may lead to some negative public opinion about you. You and your company should prepare to deal with it as soon as possible."
"Thank you," Ling Jiao said.
He could have intervened without asking for her opinion, but he respected her and didn't meddle too much in her private affairs.
Moreover, he made her spend the most lively and warm New Year in his home during her most difficult time.
"Why are you thanking me for no reason?" Fu Shiqin asked, amused, as he drove.
"Thank you for letting me have such a lively New Year," Ling Jiao said with a smile.
Fu Shiqin smiled, vaguely sensing that something about her seemed different.
"You can come to my house every year if you want."
"It's just another routine," Ling Jiao laughed.
Fu Shiqin wasn't embarrassed at all; he just smiled regretfully.
"Oh dear, you saw right through me."
The two chatted and laughed until they arrived at the place where they had agreed to meet their agent.
Since it was still the first day of the Lunar New Year, there weren't many places open for business, so we made an appointment at the place arranged by Fu Shiqin.
When the agent saw them coming together, a smile flickered in his eyes. How come these two are even closer now that they've broken up than when they were together?
"You want me to work on the first day of the Lunar New Year? Are you devils?"
"The Yang family has given several interviews to the media, and I believe they will be released in the next few days. If you don't prepare in advance, you'll be condemned to death," Fu Shiqin warned.
Upon hearing this, the agent immediately perked up. If Ling Jiao were to be embroiled in a scandal, her job would be in danger.
"How could this family be so shameless?"
"And you, you weren't even noticed when you were being followed while you were moving?" Fu Shiqin said.
"Were you being followed?" the agent asked, sounding bewildered.
Fu Shiqin sighed and told the truth.
“When Ling Jiao returned that day, Sun Xiulan was already waiting for her at the new apartment. How would she have known if you hadn’t been followed?”
"I..." The agent had no way to refute it, relieved that nothing serious had happened. "I'm sorry, it was my oversight, but why didn't you tell me..."
"Forget it, this matter is over. Let's think of a way to deal with what comes next," Ling Jiao said.
At that time, she forgot to contact her agent and didn't want to disturb her during the New Year, so she didn't tell her.
The agent gritted his teeth and said after hearing this.
"In my experience, they use public opinion to force you to commit the crime, but they are not people who work in this industry, so they can't do this kind of thing with the same level of skill."
When it comes to manipulating public opinion, no one is more professional than these talent agency teams.
The Yang family's idea of smearing her by giving a few interviews and appearing on a couple of shows is simply wishful thinking.
