The two chatted outside for over an hour. Ling Jiao finished memorizing her lines and came out. Seeing them on the balcony, she came over as well.
"So you were hiding here."
Gu Weiwei picked up the red wine, poured some into the empty glass she had prepared, and handed it to her.
"I see you're busy, so I didn't want to bother you."
Ling Jiao picked up her wine, took a small sip, and said.
"Actually, I wanted to go over the lines with you and discuss the scenes we'll be filming tomorrow."
"Because Lu Hao can't join the crew in time, it's putting some pressure on you now," Gu Weiwei said apologetically.
She had prepared the scenes she planned to film over the next few days, but because Lu Hao wasn't there, they couldn't film them. So, the scenes she was going to film tomorrow were ones she hadn't even started preparing for yet.
When Luo Qianqian saw that the two of them were about to discuss work, she tilted her head back and finished her glass of wine.
"You guys chat, I'm going back to my room to sleep."
Gu Weiwei waved to her, took Ling Jiao's script, and glanced at it.
"Shall we begin?"
Ling Jiao put down her wine glass and silently recited her lines to herself.
"We can begin."
Gu Weiwei's expression suddenly changed, and she entered the role of the person she was going to act opposite.
Ling Jiao was initially a little nervous, but she was quickly drawn into the mood by her, though she was still not entirely satisfied after one take.
"Are there... areas that weren't handled well enough?"
Gu Weiwei nodded, "There are some minor flaws."
Ling Jiao thought for a moment and then asked.
"How about we switch roles and go through it again?"
Mainly, she wanted to see how she would perform if she were to play her own role.
Gu Weiwei nodded, looked at the script for a while, memorized the characters in the entire scene, and quickly got into character with her eyes and expressions.
Every line, every glance, and every little gesture fully conveyed the character's emotions; a touch more exaggeration or a touch less was just right.
After Ling Jiao finished her match with her, she looked at her in silence for a long time, and then sighed with admiration.
"I've learned a lot, I've learned a lot."
She was saying the same lines as her, and even did some of the same actions, but she conveyed a completely different feeling.
"It's not that exaggerated, it's just that I've been working on this script for longer than you have." Gu Weiwei smiled faintly.
As a director, she had already mentally rehearsed countless times what kind of feeling each character's role should evoke.
“I’m really curious. Even if you were the same age as me, how could you grasp every role so meticulously…” Ling Jiao was puzzled. She had been wondering about this for a long time.
Gu Weiwei picked up her wine glass, thought for a moment, and said.
"I've probably experienced the worst and the best, so I have more insights than the average person."
For example, life and death, true love...
Ling Jiao nodded thoughtfully, "I see."
Gu Weiwei swirled the red wine in her glass and said with a smile.
"Therefore, I strongly urge you to let go of your attachment to the past and enjoy your life now. The acting profession may be able to rely on skills and popularity at the beginning, but to be a long-lasting star in this industry and to do better, you definitely need a certain amount of life experience and insights."
Ling Jiao smiled silently. This was also the bottleneck she had been feeling recently. She felt that she should have done a better job with a role, but she just couldn't seem to do something right.
Now, I'm starting to understand a little.
