Fu Shiyi made up his mind to take advantage of the fact that his brother hadn't returned yet and try to get on his sister-in-law's good side.
That way, his brother might let him off the hook.

Gu Weiwei didn't get up until almost eleven o'clock. As soon as she entered the living room, Fu Shiyi eagerly came over to her.
They poured her tea and cut her fruit.

Fu Shiyi lightly slapped his own lips, wondering why he had been so foolish as to get himself so drunk.
"Sister-in-law, I really didn't, please let me go."
"I bet that's what you really think, judging from how you always call her 'sister-in-law'," Gu Weiwei scoffed.
Fu Shiqin wanted to cry and almost knelt down to apologize.
"Sister-in-law, that's really not what I wanted to say. Look how much I respect you. I was the first person to support you and my brother being together."
Gu Weiwei glanced at him, seemingly considering whether or not to let him go.
"Sister-in-law, please let me go, and please let my brother go too," Fu Shiyi pleaded.
"Alright, I forgive you," Gu Weiwei said generously.
After saying that, he picked up the fruit he had cut and started eating.
Fu Shiyi breathed a sigh of relief, but he didn't dare to relax completely.
But the focus isn't on his sister-in-law, it's on his brother.
"Sister-in-law, what about my brother...?"
"That's beyond my control," Gu Weiwei said with a shrug.
Fu Shiyi wanted to cry, "If you can't control him, then who can?"
He's the kind of person who would never go west if his brother said east, yet he's telling him that it's not something he can control.
"Oh, it's nothing, your brother won't blame you," Gu Weiwei comforted him. He'd only been rambling a bit because he'd had too much to drink; she was just teasing him.
“He can,” Fu Shiyi said confidently.
How could he not know how petty his brother is after decades of brotherhood?
He was especially petty and narrow-minded when it came to matters concerning his wife.
"It's really not that serious. He's your own brother, why are you afraid of him?" Gu Weiwei said with a smile.
"It's my own brother who's scary, okay?" Fu Shiyi said with a mournful face.
He knew from the way his brother looked at him that morning that he would definitely teach him a lesson.
He hadn't been beaten in years, and he didn't want to be beaten again.
"Then what can I do?" Gu Weiwei asked.
Fu Shiyi immediately suggested with a grin, "You should coax him, tell him not to be angry with me, and not to cause me any trouble."
