Chapter 6 I Call You Dad 2

Gu Weiwei dragged her suitcase, opened the door, and followed Fu Shiqin downstairs.

Downstairs, an elderly gentleman nearing seventy was talking to Fu Hanzheng and a few others.

"Mr. Ming, I believe Assistant Xu has already told you the purpose of inviting you here on the way. Please take a look and tell me whether this painting by Priyan is an authentic work or a fake."

“Purian’s painting?” Ming Zongyuan was astonished.

As he spoke, he took out his reading glasses and put them on. "There are very few of his paintings left outside these days. How did you manage to find them?"

“It was bought at an underground auction house.” Fu Hanzheng pointed to the painting on the table. “You’re an expert on Priyan’s paintings, so I asked you to take a look.”

Upon hearing that it was a painting by Priyan, Ming Zongyuan excitedly got up and walked to the table. After taking a closer look, his face fell.

"So, is it true?" Fu Shiqin couldn't wait to come over and ask.

Mr. Ming Zongyuan took off his glasses and turned to look at Fu Shiqin and the others with a displeased expression.

"Are you young people deliberately trying to make fun of me?"

Fu Hanzheng narrowed his sharp eyes slightly. "Mr. Ming, are you saying that this painting... is a fake?"

Fu Shiqin didn't believe it, so he leaned closer to the painting and looked at it, then pulled Ming Zongyuan aside and said...

"Mr. Ming, take another look. Or should I get you a magnifying glass? This painting cost tens of millions to acquire, how could it be fake?"

"Tens of millions?" Ming Zongyuan didn't even bother to look at the painting again, as if it would offend his eyes.

"Who would be out of their mind to spend tens of millions to buy such a fake painting?"

Meng Ruya glanced at Fu Hanzheng, somewhat flustered.

“Mr. Ming, take another look. You only glanced at it and then said it was a fake. That’s too hasty.”

She was the one who arranged the purchase of this painting; if it's fake, she'll have to take responsibility.

As a result, Mu Weiwei didn't suffer any misfortune; instead, she actually made a contribution.

Ming Zongyuan sighed impatiently and waved his hand.

“I don’t need to look closely. I’ve seen so many paintings by Prien. I can tell the real from the fake at a glance.”

"Besides, this painting is an original, and it's the most cherished collection of one of my friend's painting enthusiasts. I've seen it with my own eyes in their home. They're not short of money, so they wouldn't sell the painting."

He loved Puli's works, and when he saw these forgeries, he immediately lost his temper.

Fu Shiqin had a lot to say and was just waiting for Ming Zongyuan to come and authenticate the painting as genuine so he could scold Gu Weiwei.

But now, the painting is fake, so he has to swallow it all.

Meng Ruya, who had spent tens of millions to buy back the fake painting, was now in the wrong and dared not say another word.

Fu Hanzheng looked up at Gu Weiwei coming downstairs, his eyes somewhat dark and unpredictable.

"Weiwei, how did you figure out that the painting was fake?" Grandma Fu asked curiously.

She knew she had no formal training in painting, and that this copy had fooled countless people by daring to put it up for auction. How could she have recognized it as fake at a glance?

“My mother used to like oil paintings and often took me to see art exhibitions abroad. She had seen other paintings by Priyan and noticed they were different, so she thought they were fake,” Gu Weiwei explained simply.

The truth is that the original painting "Rose" was secretly purchased by the Gu family eight years ago and has been hanging in their living room ever since.

Mrs. Gu was very fond of Priyan's paintings and had collected most of them at home. Ming Zongyuan was once invited to the Gu family as a fellow artist and saw the original painting in person.
