Chapter Fifty Moving
"Of course I remember," Shu Yao greeted the person with a smile. The Xu family runs a farm, which is quite good.
"Graceful and slender"
A woman's voice, full of affection, rang out; without even looking, one knew it was Xu Feng. The woman approached with the sound of footsteps, her expression momentarily stunned upon seeing her. She quickly regained her composure.
"Yaoyao, I'm so glad to finally see you." The woman stepped forward and hugged her warmly. "Yaoyao, you have no idea how much I missed you and how worried I was about you. How are you? Did you suffer a lot on the mainland?"
“No, that’s all,” Shu Yao said quietly, taking a step back. “Sister Xu, you’re still so beautiful.”
"Oh, you're the prettiest," Xu Feng said with a smile, but her eyes held a complex expression. Shu Yao wore a purple dress today, its elegant style perfectly suited to her age. They were two years apart, and while it's said that people from inland areas look much older without good skincare products, Shu Yao was completely different.
Her skin was delicate, fair and rosy without a single wrinkle; her features were fresh and lively; her eyes were clear and gentle—she was clearly a woman with a very rich spirit.
"Shu Yao,"
A man in a suit stood behind Xu Feng. Shu Yao knew who he was. She nodded slightly upon hearing this and waited for Xu Feng to introduce him before greeting him.
"Brother-in-law Chen, you and Sister Xu look so good together."
Chen Mo could barely maintain his smile, but he still greeted them very politely. His gaze fell on Su Xiangdong, who was standing with Shu Yao, their eyes meeting with a loving expression.
After greeting acquaintances and exchanging a few pleasantries, the couple were once again led by their parents to greet guests. Xu Feng noticed her husband's gaze fixed on something not far away, and her face darkened.
"What, are you still thinking about your little sister Shu Yao?"
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Chen Mo snapped at her. He glanced around, afraid of attracting attention. There were too many people around today; it would be embarrassing to start a fight here.
"Isn't that right? Shu Yao is still so beautiful. Have your eyes left her?"
"Don't talk nonsense. You're middle-aged now, what else can you do besides being jealous all day?"
"I'm jealous? After all these years, can you honestly say you haven't had feelings for her?"
The two started arguing quietly in a corner, and Chen Mo, not wanting to lose face, turned and left. However, he didn't leave the banquet, only his wife. He chatted with a group of business partners and later found an opportunity to run into Shu Yao in the corridor.
"Sister Shuyao,"
Shu Yao looked up and saw it was him, greeting him with a smile. "Where's Sister Xu? I haven't seen her."
"I don't know, don't worry about her." He waved his hand dismissively at his wife. "We hadn't heard anything about it before. Weren't they saying the mainland had strict controls? How did your parents find you?"
“The mainland is different now. You can go back and take a look when you have time.” She didn’t want to say more to him and pointed in the direction of the hall. “I have to go back now. Let’s talk another day.”
After the afternoon ended and they tidied up and got into bed, Su Xiangdong finally asked, "That guy surnamed Chen, were you on very good terms with him before?"
Shu Yao laughed and reached out to hug his waist. "Why does it smell so sour?"
The man reached out and put his arm around her: "Tell me quickly."
"Uncle Chen was also a close friend of my dad's. When we were little, our two families lived next door. His mother and my mother were distant cousins, I think."
"So, you're childhood sweethearts. You didn't finish your sentence, are you two engaged?"
"It was all just a joke among adults. So many years have passed, and he married Xu Feng. Things have changed a lot over time."
"But I felt there was regret and resentment in his eyes."
Shu Yao looked up and kissed him. "He has a wife at home and other women outside. I wouldn't want a man like that even if he were given to me."
How do you know he has other women outside?
“My second brother said it. We’re all in the same circle, what can be kept secret? And it’s not just this now, there have been other things before.”
"I,"
"So don't worry. I don't have the habit of picking up trash."
Su Xiangdong chuckled softly, truly relaxed this time. Although he was confident in his relationship with his wife, he couldn't help but worry about outsiders. Now he was completely at ease; his wife would never approve of a man like this.
All show and no substance; he looks respectable, but he's actually such a womanizer. Things are so chaotic abroad; I should go back home once everything's over. He also needs to start preparing for his own future; the first step is to apply for early retirement.
After a good night's sleep, the couple went out alone the next day. Shu Yao carefully browsed the shopping malls abroad, while Su Xiangdong also paid attention to and noted down the operating methods of foreign supermarkets.
The couple ate out for lunch and then continued their business trip in the afternoon. They were busy like this for several days in a row, finally finishing at 5 PM and returning home. She had just sat down and taken a sip of tea when the phone rang. Startled by the content of the call, she stood up and rushed outside.
"What's wrong?" Su Xiangdong also stood up, his eyes filled with urgency.
"He Xu was in a car accident."
The family rushed to the hospital, thankfully the child was unharmed. He had protected his younger sister during the accident, so Heyi and Tangtang were uninjured, but he suffered a head injury. Fortunately, it wasn't serious, just a mild concussion.
"Mom and Dad, don't worry, I'm fine."
Shu Yao was relieved only after seeing the child with her own eyes. "It's good that everything is alright."
He Xu was observed in the hospital for two days and was discharged after it was confirmed that he was fine. When the family was about to leave, Shu's parents personally saw them off at the airport.
"Dad still has some things to take care of. Once the house over there is ready, your mother and I will go back to China. We're getting old, and we want to return to our roots."
"Okay." Shu Yao took her mother's arm. "Mom and Dad, we'll wait for you to come back."
Saying goodbye at the airport, a mountain of things awaits me upon my return home. The new house is finished and in the decoration phase, requiring the homeowner to choose its style. I'm communicating with the workers daily and personally selecting materials. The shop is booming, keeping me incredibly busy.
At the end of the month, she was checking the accounts in the store when she heard a commotion upstairs, but she didn't pay much attention. After all, this was a shopping mall, and conflicts were common. It wasn't until lunchtime that the staff started gossiping with her.
"The parts shop upstairs, the one next door. They were checking the accounts today, and her entries were completely nonsensical, driving the owner crazy."
"Sun Yaozu's shop?"
"Yes, it's his company. That woman was one you didn't hire before, right? She's good at selling goods, but her records are terrible. The accounts are a mess and don't add up at all. Sun Yaozu is furious."
Sun Yaozu was already trying his best to suppress his emotions. He spent the whole afternoon cleaning up the mess, cursing Meng Xi a thousand times over in his mind. But apart from firing her with a dark face, he didn't argue with Meng Xi or insult or ridicule her.
Meng Xi realized she had hired the wrong person. The girl was fine with selling goods, but her accounts were a complete mess. Did Shu Yao realize she hadn't wanted her in the first place? No, Shu Yao was just lucky. She absolutely refused to admit that Shu Yao was better than her.
"Yaozu, I made your favorite vegetarian dumplings, please try them."
Sun Yaozu finally finished the accounts, venting his anger by cursing under his breath. When he faced Meng Xi again, he was back to normal.
"Okay." He said to her while eating dumplings, "A batch of goods is arriving tonight, go and pick them up."
"Um, are you coming with me?"
“I won’t go. I have other things to take care of.” He smiled and reassured her, “Don’t worry, just check the list. As long as there are no problems, it’ll be fine. These suppliers are long-term partners of ours, so there shouldn’t be any issues. You don’t need to worry too much.”
Sun Yaozu had already started exposing her to these things, and now he's directly arranging for her to do them on her own. Meng Xi also wants to take control of these businesses as soon as possible and become independent.
"All right."
Meng Xi began to independently manage the supply channels. After the goods arrived, Sun Yaozu contacted the sales representatives, and then she was responsible for making the negotiations. Sun Yaozu managed the funds, but gave her three hundred yuan per month.
Meng Xi was overjoyed; this was much more than her salary. She would be in charge of the goods, and Sun Yaozu said that once she was familiar with the business, he would hand over a shop to her to manage.
The autumn air was crisp and clear. A brand-new women's motorcycle was parked in front of their house. The motorcycle was lightweight and beautiful, and its market price was around four thousand. In an era when the average wage was less than fifty, this thing was definitely a luxury item. Sun Yaozu called her out to see it, and she jumped up excitedly.
"Yaozu, is this for me?"
"Yes, it's for you. You've been saying you don't have a car, so I'm giving you one so it'll be easier for you to get around."
Meng Xi excitedly stroked the car body; the blue car gleamed, and her eyes lit up like light bulbs.
"My God! I knew it would be inconvenient to get around without a car, and I was already planning to buy a bicycle. This... motorcycle is too extravagant."
"What's the point of luxury? You deserve the best."
"Bring glory to one's ancestors!"
The couple flaunted their affection without a care in the world. Neighbors, hearing the commotion, came out and were filled with envy at the sight of the car. One by one, they stroked the car and began flattering Meng Xi.
"Oh my, Meng Xi, you're so lucky. Now that you're the boss's wife, you even have a motorcycle."
"Oh dear, I guess I'll only ever be able to look at it from afar."
"Meng Xi, can you take me for a ride sometime? Let me experience the speed of a motorcycle."
“Take me on a lap too.”
"Great! What's wrong with that?" Meng Xi was overjoyed. Sun Yaozu was so good to her. The person she hired had made a mistake, and although he was angry, he didn't fire the person, giving her a huge favor. Now he was buying her a motorcycle, making her feel proud.
It's the change of seasons, and she has some money to have three new outfits made this year. A brand-new wool coat paired with dress pants, leather shoes on the footrest of a motorcycle, a scarf covering the lower half of her face to conceal the scar on her chin, and she looks at people with an arrogant air, her head tilted back.
"Wow, Meng Xi is really beautiful."
"It's really impressive. This is the first time I've ever seen a woman riding a motorcycle."
"Absolutely, that's amazing."
Meng Xi was incredibly arrogant, and started taking the women in the alley for a drive. They sped around all afternoon, and she was the center of attention. Flattery poured in one after another, making her feel completely smug. Especially Xu's wife, who knew exactly what she wanted to hear.
"They say Shu Yao's parents are very rich, but they've never bought her a women's motorcycle. Meng Xi, you're so lucky. Shu Yao couldn't handle someone as capable as Yao Zu."
“My Yaozu is really capable.” She looked in the direction of the Su family next door: “What is Shu Yao compared to her? She doesn’t have that kind of luck.”
"Of course, you really are capable."
"That's right."
"Hey, look, a car." Meng Xi was pulling at Shu Yao when someone shouted, and she stopped abruptly.
Meng Xi was determined to outdo Shu Yao today, and then a brand-new Mercedes pulled up in front of the Su family's gate. The car door opened, and as expected, Shu Yao stepped out.
"Wow, Shuyao, you can drive a car?"
"Such a nice car, so smooth and shiny, Shuyao, did you buy this?"
Shu Yao remained calm and composed, answering politely when asked. "Yes. My dad bought it before, but I couldn't drive it. I learned how to drive and got my license these days before driving it back."
"My goodness!" Qin's daughter-in-law disliked Meng Xi and had always rolled her eyes at Meng Xi's flamboyant behavior. Her younger sister now worked at Shu Yao's shop, and she was more daring than most people. At this moment, she turned around and pulled Meng Xi back as she was about to sneak away.
"Meng Xi, your car isn't as nice as Shu Yao's."
"Yes, Meng Xi, I always say that you can eat too much, but you can't say too much. The Shu family is so rich, buying a car for their daughter is definitely possible."
Meng Xi's face flushed and paled in turns, biting her lip and trembling all over. Shu Yao, seeing the mistress who once proclaimed true love to her like this, found herself completely overwhelmed. The mistress's shame and humiliation were what she deserved.
"Shu Yao, is this car really yours?"
"Hmm." She replied casually, as if the car were perfectly ordinary. This nonchalant demeanor made Meng Xi tighten her sleeves even more, feeling a sharp, stabbing pain in her heart.
Shu Yao calmly returned home, while Meng Xi outside kept her head down and gritted her teeth. It took her a while to come to her senses and then she looked up and tried to make amends.
"No need to rush, we'll buy a new car when the money arrives at the end of the year."
That evening, Sun Yaozu asked her to pick up the goods. As she dressed, she asked curiously, "Yaozu, why are all the deliveries made at night?"
Sun Yaozu's eyes flickered: "The other party's boss is only available in the evening."
"Oh." She nodded, accepting the explanation. She wondered why Sun Yaozu wanted her to go alone, but for the sake of her own contribution, she didn't ask.
Less than a month later, Shu Yao received the news at the shop. A group of public officials had come to Sun Yaozu's shop upstairs, and the news spread very quickly.
"I heard it was about smuggling motorcycles, and Meng Xi was caught red-handed. She has already been detained."
The reform and opening up policy has boosted the economy, and the crackdown on smuggling has been severe in the past two years. Shu Yao had harbored suspicions about Sun Yaozu's rapid rise to power. However, as a reborn individual, she believed she wouldn't take such a risk. After all, it was a path of no return, and the criminal law was severe.
Looking back now, she realized she had overestimated Sun Yaozu. That scoundrel had no morals; he'd taken all the goods and money, but then washed his hands of the whole affair.
"Comrade, this has nothing to do with me. You can check; all I handled were spare parts, not enough to assemble a car. My customs declaration documents only showed these few parts, and I paid taxes according to regulations."
"Caught red-handed, your wife is now in custody. You are husband and wife, and you led her into this business. You dare to say you know nothing?"
"We are divorced, and now we only have an employer-employee relationship."
Meng Xi was brought to confront Sun Yaozu, and upon hearing his words, her heart sank to the bottom. "Sun Yaozu, you ordered all the goods; I was just there to sign for them. Now you're putting all the blame on me. You planned this all along, didn't you?"
"Let me tell you, I don't admit to this crime. This was all done in concert by you all; it has nothing to do with me. I was framed by you."
A group of people gathered to watch the spectacle, including Shu Yao. Sun Yaozu, facing Meng Xi's counterattack, could only sigh silently, as if he had been driven to the brink. Helplessly, he pulled out a few photos from a drawer, his face filled with shame.
"Comrades, they say you shouldn't wash your dirty linen in public, but I'm not going to hide it anymore. Look, these are photos of Meng Xi and Boss Xiao. She pretends to help me, but she's been having an affair with them for a long time. I only gave her a job because I felt sorry for her and because she's the mother of my child. Who knew she... they're adulterers, doing something that harms the national interest. I really... sigh..."
The investigators took the photos, speechless for a moment. Meng Xi leaned over to see what was going on, and was instantly struck dumb, collapsing to the ground.
Shu Yao also saw the photo from the side; the scene was utterly disgusting. Meng Xi was covering her face, but her clothes were half-undone, and she appeared to be embracing a man.
"No, no. This...it's not like that..."
Meng Xi was so anxious that she was incoherent. But with such irrefutable evidence as the photos, she didn't know where to begin, no matter how many reasons she had.
She already knew when she was arrested that smuggling was a serious crime. Especially since this wasn't her first or second offense; the other party already had concrete evidence. The goods she shipped out on multiple occasions were all smuggled goods, amounting to a huge sum. If proven, she'll basically never be able to get out of prison.
She wanted to say that she didn't know the other party before; she was just following Sun Yaozu's instructions to pick up the goods. However, she never expected that Sun Yaozu would have such a thing. The supplier had been lecherous, and she had deliberately tried to elicit information about his business dealings. She had thought it was because of her charm—even her chin injury could attract men. Now, thinking back, perhaps it was all a trap set for her.
“I’m telling the truth. It was all arranged by Sun Yaozu. I just went to the site to pick up the goods. I don’t understand anything about the ins and outs. I just picked up the goods and did what he said. I really didn’t know anything.”
She tried desperately to defend herself, but seeing that the other person just shook their head, she knew it was bad. Seeing that she was about to be taken away along with the accounts, she frantically broke free and turned to grab Sun Yaozu.
"Sun Yaozu, you're the one who ruined me, you're the one who ruined me, aren't you? I'll fight you to the death!" She reached out and grabbed wildly, already in a state of frenzy.
"You bastard, you came back and trampled my self-esteem underfoot. The moment you accepted me in the hospital, didn't you start plotting against me? Tell me, tell me! You didn't burn me to death back then, but now you're scheming to kill me, aren't you? Sun Yaozu, how could you be so cruel..."
Meng Xi was crying with tears and snot all over her face. Sun Yaozu looked hurt, but his eyes were actually cold. He grabbed her with both hands to keep her from moving and handed her over to the staff.
"You smuggled goods behind my back, you caused my shop to be investigated, and you even turned around and accused me of harming you. You used the proceeds from smuggling to accumulate funds for yourself. You only want to be a big boss, right? You don't care about me at all. Meng Xi, you are more vicious than a viper."
The couple, who were just moments before showing affection, suddenly found themselves blaming and shifting blame. Their cold eyes and sharp words were all aimed at destroying each other. If they had any sense of self, their malicious intent would have been revealed.
"Sun Yaozu," Meng Xi was about to be taken away, and she finally realized she was in danger. Sun Yaozu was more experienced than her in this regard; he had premeditatedly pushed her to take the blame, it must have been a well-planned scheme.
“Sun Yaozu, how could you be so heartless? You can ignore me if you’re angry with me, but how could you frame me like this? Comrade, comrade, I didn’t do it, I really didn’t do it, I was framed by that scoundrel. He’s angry with me, he hates me, he wants to kill me.”
Regardless of what was said, Meng Xi was taken away for investigation. The shop was temporarily sealed, the accounts were seized, and she was taken away for investigation. After everyone had left, Sun Yaozu let out a deep breath.
"boss?"
"Give us a break first, and I'll settle our wages if we want to leave."
During the investigation of Meng Xi, Sun Yaozu never visited her once. To the public, he presented an expression of utter despair, claiming that she was promiscuous and had conspired with another man to harm him.
Sun Shuyin's eyes were red from crying, but it seemed that was just how things were. She found it strange, and sometimes she thought her father was scary. But her mother wouldn't listen at all, and even she herself was falling for Sun Yaozu's sweet talk.
"Mom," she cried, at a loss for what to do, finally able to visit.
"Daughter, did you beg your father to save me?"
He said you conspired with another man to harm him, and that you were promiscuous...
"Bullshit." Meng Xi broke down, clutching her hair, on the verge of tears. "His return this time was a trap he dug for me, he did it on purpose. How could I have thought he wouldn't hold a grudge against someone as petty as him? He hates me to death, he just wants to ruin me."
She became a boss's wife, a boss, had money in her hands, rode a motorcycle, and her husband even had a car. Meng Xi climbed step by step, but just when she reached the top and thought she could buy a BMW, she suddenly fell down with a thud.
If it were just the original her, being framed might have only made her angry. But when all her vanity was satisfied, when she thought she had become someone superior, and when she was secretly pleased to restore her in-laws' former glory and become a young mistress, she realized that it was all Sun Yaozu's revenge, and she just couldn't accept it.
"Meng Xi has gone mad." Su Xiangdong received the news and told his wife about it when he got home that night. "She was crying and laughing, saying that she was a young mistress, that she wanted to drive a BMW and a Mercedes, and live in a villa."
"good,"
She hadn't cared much to begin with, and now she had truly let go completely. The two who were wrong were either having extramarital affairs or hurting each other to the point of death. She would never again doubt herself or let their past words cause her to examine herself or suffer internal strife.
See, it wasn't her fault. She changed husbands, and she's still successful, raising her children to be sensible and filial.
"Wife," Su Xiangdong called softly, a little worried.
"It's okay." She wiped away her tears and smiled. "Really, it's all over now."
Tangtang heard about this and made a special trip back home. She was very upset when she told her mother about it. "I knew something was wrong. They were about to burn her alive back then, and then they came back and humiliated her like that, and she still tried to cling to them. Mother and daughter were blinded by sweet words and ended up like this."
"How's the investigation going? Is it clear that Sun Yaozu isn't involved?" Although she disliked Meng Xi, she knew that Sun Yaozu couldn't possibly be innocent in this matter.
"It was done very cleanly, without leaving a trace. Now everything shows that this was done by Meng Xi. She temporarily hooked up with the supplier and smuggled goods with that man. She made money behind Sun Yaozu's back."
Shu Yao was speechless for a moment. What had Sun Yaozu gone through all these years? He was too ruthless. "How many years will he probably get?"
"If confirmed, it's basically life imprisonment. Meng Xi has gone mad; her life is over. The most pitiful one is Sun Shuyin; with parents like this, how can she, as their daughter, bear it?"
"Those two are too ruthless in their actions, leaving no way out for themselves."
“Yes.” He Xin shook her head: “Luckily you ran fast, Mom, otherwise it would have been a waste for you to spend your whole life with a man like Sun Yaozu.”
Shu Yao smiled, her mood lifted by hearing such words from her daughter. This sentiment wasn't just held by her daughter; many others shared it. People didn't know the full story, but they knew that Meng Xi's two misfortunes were both due to Sun Yaozu.
The first time, she almost perished in a fire because of him; the second time, she went completely insane, her life ruined. Everyone thought she was lucky to have escaped the inferno of the Sun family.
The case was decided very quickly. Meng Xi's smuggling was confirmed, the amount involved was huge, and she was sentenced to life imprisonment in court. She was locked up in a state of madness.
There was a lot of talk outside, and Sun Shuyin naturally heard everything. These past few days, she walked with her head down, hurrying around, searching everywhere for evidence to overturn her mother's case. But in the end, it was all in vain; her mother was still sentenced to life imprisonment.
After returning home, she sat alone in the house until it got dark and Sun Yaozu came back and turned on the light, only then did he see her sitting at home.
Why aren't the lights on?
Sun Shuyin slowly raised her head, her face filled with sorrow. Her eyes were brimming with unyielding resentment, and tears streamed down her face.
"Why?"
"..."
"What heinous thing did Mom do that you treat her like this?"
"Adult matters are none of your business."
"How could it have nothing to do with me?" Sun Shuyin completely broke down: "One of you is my father and the other is my mother, what am I supposed to do with this?"
Sun Yaozu didn't speak, but silently handed her a paternity test report. "Do you remember when we went to the hospital for a blood test?"
Sun Shuyin couldn't understand the all-English report, but nodded upon hearing this. "So what is this?"
"Your genetic test and mine. You are not my child at all."
"I don't believe it." She burst into tears, feeling as if she had been kicked into a ditch. These words were too devastating for her; she couldn't accept them at all. But Sun Yaozu didn't say anything more; he just walked away silently.
She didn't believe it, so she took the paternity test results to her English teacher at school. The teacher told her that the report showed the two were not related by blood and were not relatives.
Sun Shuyin was completely devastated; she had never imagined things would turn out this way. She frantically ran to her mother, wanting to get to the bottom of things. But what insights could Meng Xi, in her erratic state, possibly offer?
Sun Shuyin walked aimlessly down the street and saw the Su family moving next door. Tangtang was carrying a suitcase to the truck when the two girls turned around and their eyes met. Neither of them spoke. Shuyin walked to the Su family's moving truck and saw Shuyao carrying things out.
"Auntie," Shu Yao didn't reply. She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask, but now she felt it was unnecessary. Talking about her own parents like this would only make them a laughingstock.
Sun Shuyin turned and left. Tangtang muttered to herself, "She seemed to want to ask you something, but why didn't she say anything and just left?"
Shu Yao didn't answer her youngest daughter's question, silently continuing what she was doing. It was already good enough that she could keep her distance from this daughter her ex-husband had doted on in his past life.
The new house was all set up, and she moved some of her belongings over first. The house was spacious, with two floors; the children each had their own bedroom, and the two downstairs rooms were for her, her husband, and her aunt—it was spacious and convenient. There were two bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, so they wouldn't disturb each other. A room was also specially reserved upstairs for her parents, so they could stay with her if they wanted.
The eldest brother paid for the entire house, including the interior decoration, furniture, and appliances. The little girl went over to her room and saw the pink wallpaper and the princess bed with its sheer curtains, and happily rolled around on it.
"Mom, this room is so beautiful."
"I'm glad you like it. Your uncle made it for you according to your cousin's style, saying that you're still young and you'll definitely like this style."
The little girl, beaming with joy, ran downstairs and hugged her father's arm. Su Xiangdong, who was cleaning, stopped what he was doing when his daughter started acting cute.
"happy?"
"Of course. My sister's room is more intellectual, and I'm sure she'll like it."
"That's right. Your mother discussed it with your sister, and it's all done the way you like."
Shu Yao watched with a smile. Her two children were still outstanding in this life, not only because of her love as their mother, but also because of the abundant love from their father. Hearing her little daughter muttering about the Sun family, Su Xiangdong took a sip of tea and offered his opinion.
“Sun Yaozu is a narrow-minded, petty, selfish, and ruthless person. Even if Meng Xi is wrong, she could have just come back and divorced him. Why did he have to do this to harm her?”
Shu Yao nodded in agreement, agreeing with her husband's point of view. She shook her head and sighed deeply; that bastard seemed to think anyone who got close to him was doomed. In their past life, they were a mother and her two children; in this life, they were Meng Xi and her daughter.
She had known Sun Yaozu since their youth and into their old age, so she understood him well. He never blamed himself; when something went wrong, he would only blame others. He would say sorry, but in his heart, he was always thinking that someone else had harmed him.
In his past life, he was deceived by Meng Xi, who treated his own children poorly, but doted on Meng Xi's daughter instead. In this life, this led to her leaving him with their child at a young age, leaving him childless. He endured countless hardships abroad, but he certainly held a grudge against Meng Xi for all of it.
"I've moved, and since we live far apart, we'll basically have no contact anymore."
"Um."
My older brother spared no expense, which is why the project is progressing so quickly. It was originally scheduled for December, but it's been brought forward so much. While tidying up at home that evening, Shu Yao couldn't help but check the time.
"Tangtang, your older brother and sister should be back by now, right?"
