Chapter 16

Chapter 16

The timeline goes back to the previous one.

Their infiltration, well, it could be considered infiltration, sort of like a 2D level-breaking game.

Security inside Katsuya's group was much better than elsewhere, and one obvious point was the bright lighting. There were noticeably more streetlights than outside, and more patrols. The leader's flashlight was incredibly bright, and if it suddenly flashed in someone's eyes, they'd have to wait a second.

Hiding, finding blind spots, and waiting for gaps between patrol teams before moving forward is a bit tense and exciting.

Katsuya's group! This is the heart of Katsuya's group, and there are only two of them now, just two people! If you tell anyone about this, they'll probably freak out.

As for why ICE hadn't arrived yet, it all comes down to why he was so confident he could take down Katsuya's group—he'd already been in the group a while ago, a mid-level henchman. He even boasted, "If I'd stayed a few more years, I might have even become the leader!" Jesse wanted to say, "Stop bragging!" but he held back because he felt ICE might actually be able to pull it off.

Following the route ICE had previously agreed upon, they entered a room resembling a small warehouse. A musty smell filled the air. They waited for over ten minutes, and Noble nearly started looking up at the stars again. Jesse had been complaining about this guy's new hobby for the past few days and was already feeling a bit irritated. Fortunately, ICE finally arrived. He was breathing heavily, clearly having hurried over. ICE first instructed them to remove their face coverings, then told them to follow. This was meant to be a patrol group, pretending to be Katsuya.

The mask was to prevent him from being recognized by Katsuya's crew later, but wearing one while on patrol in broad daylight was uncharacteristic of a member of the group; it would have gotten him killed on the spot. Noble reluctantly took it off. He felt worse than death if he wasn't allowed to cover himself during this kind of thing. He trailed behind ICE, acting a bit furtively. Jesse watched in silence, feeling he was too conspicuous, and patted his shoulder.

He didn't want to say anything more, but he wanted to stay alive more: "Noble, don't hunch over."

Noble stood straight.

"That's not it, it's a bit too serious," Jesse said. "Can you find a middle ground?"

It was obvious that ICE had put in a lot of effort and was very familiar with the route. They led them all the way smoothly, then pointed to a large building and said, "Look, the vault."

"A vault" is a general term for what might be gold bars or bundles of banknotes, all of which can be converted into cash. Little Asia is located in Japan, so why are there so many foreigners? Because it's near the coast, people often sneak in, settling there without household registration. The situation is chaotic, and the government doesn't intervene. This is how the Katsuya gang came to dominate. For Kowloon, this is the perfect place for smuggling, naturally providing plenty of cash for the Katsuya gang to use. According to ICE's expectations, they were merely "fleecing the sheep." Just three people, they couldn't get even a fraction of a percent. The Katsuya gang wouldn't even be seriously injured, but it would definitely be enough for them to leave this hellhole and live happily ever after for decades.

The three of them were about to head towards their destination when a person they were supposed to pass by suddenly stopped. He glanced at them, frowned, and asked, "Who's leading the group? I don't know him."

ICE turned and gestured to him, "Me, oh, Yanagiya-nii?"

Liuwu also recognized him and said, "Oh," and then asked, "Are you going to the vault?"

There were no other important buildings on this land, so they were obviously heading towards the vault.

Jesse had actually anticipated this situation before he came. After all, you can't just rely on the enemy being fools to get things done. He had thought about his words, but when it came to this situation, he could only watch and see. After all, you see, ICE is still here, right?

ICE said quickly, as if he had rehearsed it eight or ten times: "Yeah. Robin asked me to get some. He's waiting over there."

Yanagiya nodded. After all, he'd initially just asked because he didn't know the man, but once he recognized ICE and realized he knew someone, he relaxed his guard and simply struck up a conversation. "Then get back to your work," he said. Since Robin was supposedly waiting to be used, if he interfered with this popular figure of Ryuichiro Wakatoku, he'd be in big trouble.

ICE respectfully sent him away, and when he walked away, they turned and left.

Noble and Jesse didn't care about this little incident and just followed ICE into the house. There were two people guarding the house. ICE showed them the badge and let them in. There were more people inside, and ICE used the same tactics again. The people inside opened the basement door for them.

This is the real vault.

Yanagiya, holding the notebook, entered a three-story building. It looked very ordinary from the outside, and was nothing compared to those buildings with more than ten floors and elevators, but it was a very conspicuous place in Little Asia, especially in the center of Katsuya's group.

From the outside, the building looked dingy with gray walls. Inside, the decor was rather opulent. Liuwu was about to go upstairs to deliver something when he spotted a familiar figure sitting in the lobby, drinking tea. Scarface, muscular, clutching his massive sword—Robin. Actually, they weren't close, and he'd probably seen less than ICE. But then he finally remembered. Hadn't ICE just said Robin was waiting for money? So why was he sitting here, leisurely drinking tea? Was he being lazy?

He went upstairs while thinking about it and handed the sealed bag containing the list to Wakatoshi from Katsuya's group. Wakatoshi opened it, glanced at the cover, checked that the seal was intact, and left it alone.

Ruotou asked, "You didn't let anyone know you sent this over, did you?"

Yanagiya: “No.”

Ruotou said, "Okay, I trust you to do the job."

Yanagiya had been with Wakato for many years and could crack a joke even after finishing his official business. He first responded, then said with a smile, "Before I came here, I ran into ICE, a guy down there. He was quite smart. He told me that Robin was in a hurry to get him money from the vault, but when I looked, I saw that Robin was still slacking off downstairs."

Ruotou also laughed: "I'm going to scold him later. Okay, you go down first."

Liuwu: "Yes." Then he walked towards the door. Ruotou looked at his back, nodded, picked up the lighter from the table, touched the corner of the file bag, and the flame licked slowly. He took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, and then lit it.

This should be the last physical list. Uezono, that idiot. Yanagiya... what a pity. He's quite useful, a bit clever.

Liu Wu pushed open the door, but saw a person standing next to him. He just recognized that it was Robin, and suddenly felt something was wrong. Before he could figure out the cause and effect logic, he felt a chill on his neck.

A large amount of blood spilled into the room. Robin was embarrassed and said, "I'll clean it up for you."

"Don't worry about that for now." Katsuya Ryuichiro waved his hand. "What did he just say? Someone called 'ICE' said they went to the vault to get money for you. What? You're not here. How can there be a deal?"

"I turned down everything when you asked me to come. I shouldn't have ordered anyone to go to the vault. I'll go take care of it now."

"Go ahead. Clean it up."
