Chapter 21

Chapter 21

The rainstorm is not over yet, and the dragon must be buried.

He was the one who died in the previous car accident.

At his tombstone, Naomi burst into tears. They were siblings, dependent on each other for years after their parents' death, and their bond was deep. Yamato stood nearby, holding a black umbrella. He tilted the umbrella wide, leaning mostly towards Naomi, enveloping her in its shadow. But the wind and rain were so strong that the umbrella was no help. She was soaked to the skin, and in the end, she couldn't tell whether the water on her face was tears or rain. She cried so hard that she couldn't stand and could only squat.

There were many people standing behind them, all of them from the same neighborhood. If Naomi was like a younger sister to them, then the gentle and patient Ryuya was undoubtedly a close older brother to them. Cobra said nothing, simply taking off his coat and draping it over Naomi. The weather was bad and the temperature was very low. Naomi's hands pinched the coat, tightening. She sneezed, and then twitched uncontrollably.

Yamato wiped his eyes, squatted down, and said to Naomi with a trembling voice: "Naomi... let's go back first."

Naomi raised her head, her hands on Yamato's knees, her eyes red and swollen: "...Yeah."

Cobra said softly, "Noble... We have requested a meeting. Please take care of yourself."

Her body trembled a little and she said, "Okay."

This once-in-a-generation downpour has persisted for days with no sign of stopping, and its daily news presence continues. Reports indicate flooding and water damage, and experts offer predictions about how long it will take to resolve.

The prison broadcasts news daily, a form of correction. Noble was confined to Ward 1, a section designated for those deemed "dangerous." He was in a solitary cell. Daily exercise wasn't mandatory, but watching the news was mandatory, as was breathing the same stench as so many filthy men. This was Noble's first day out of solitary. He had a fever the moment he arrived, but the prison doctor refused to see him. He had to rely on anti-inflammatory medication to get through two days, and only today did his temperature return to normal.

Noble's "neighbor" Hinata Norihisa also sat next to him reluctantly.

The only interesting thing for Hinata Norihisa was to give this kid a heads-up: "Look at those guys over there, be careful. They look like they're waiting to beat you up."

"Do people in prison like to fight so much?"

"It's human nature to bully the weak and fear the strong. That's all they have to offer," Hinata Norihisa said, amused by the upcoming drama. "Can you beat them?"

Noble raised his eyelids and took a glance: "Hmm." Just some soldiers.

The other party was waiting, and so was Noble. After the news ended, the prison guards were directing the prisoners to be sent back to their dens. Noble lowered his head and blended into the crowd. Those people who tried to get close to him had to bump into him. A few people were almost thrown to the ground by the crowd and were about to curse when they saw that it was these repeat offenders. They guessed that these guys were going to target the newcomers again.

Their opening act naturally affected several people. They had performed this play many times before, and everyone knew the routine. Someone nearby would immediately shout "Someone is going to fight" or something like that, and a space would be cleared. Even the prisoners who had already gone up the stairs stopped and clung to the handrail to look down.

The efficiency is astonishing.

"Hey, kid, how did you get in?"

Noble replied calmly, "He hit someone with his car."

"You? Hitting someone? Are you old enough to be on the road?"

The minimum age for a driver's license is 18. Noble wasn't old enough. Some people look the same at 16 as they do at 26, but some people in their 20s still have the look of a teenager. Noble had the look of a convenience store clerk who wouldn't sell him alcohol. He didn't have a driver's license, and he couldn't drive. He couldn't even start a car, let alone hit someone with it.

But he was in jail now, charged with manslaughter. The Kowloon Police didn't care, the court didn't care, the prison didn't care. What they cared about most were the people in front of them.

My God, the kindest and smartest people in the world are all in prison.

I am so touched.

Noble lied with his eyes wide open: "Yes, I am 21 this year."

The leader was puzzled. He looked the man up and down. It all made sense: 21, an adult, and someone who'd killed someone. Only thing seemed a little off: the man had a childlike face, a small frame, and even his voice sounded like someone going through puberty. Hmm... so he was still driving without a license?

But these are not important. He is here to find trouble, not to vindicate anyone.

He would suddenly throw a punch, first chatting to make people relax, and then launching a sneak attack! He used this trick to deal with many people.

Noble didn't even need to raise his eyes, he just stopped the punch with his right hand, clenched it, exerted force, and before the opponent could scream in pain because of the almost crushed fist bones, Noble had already kicked him in the abdomen.

The man fell to the ground, holding on to his last remaining dignity as a man, screaming in pain and rolling back and forth.

"Who's next?" Noble looked at the guys who had followed the man. They looked at the miserable state of the man lying there, shook their heads, swallowed their saliva, and stepped back.

Noble looked at the crowd again and asked, "Who's coming?"

No one answered.

"What are you doing here, all of you?" This is the prison guard who came late.

Hinata Norihisa is really smart.

Besides being smart, he is also very experienced.

Not only was he able to piece together the general picture of the incident from the rumors he heard and the little that Noble had revealed, he also told Noble coldly: "Katsuya Ryuichiro will never let your sister go."

"He said he liked me very much," Noble turned over, "and he might need me to do something in the future. He also said that after I come in, he will ask my sister to write me a letter every month."

"You believed that bastard," Hinata snorted coldly, "That guy is the most untrustworthy. He smiled at you one second and then -"

His words stopped abruptly. Hinata Norihisa was the fourth son in his family, and he'd been raised with love and care. He loved his family just as much as they loved him, and he knew the pain of losing a loved one. So, there was no need... to attack Noble again.

"Katsuyazumi has a wealthy family and doesn't need that little money. Just behave yourself and wait for the letter, then wait for parole and go out to pick up your sister. Maybe by then your sister will have forgotten you."

"She won't forget me."

/

"...You really don't remember anything?"

The girl lying on the bed nodded in confusion. The young girl had been seriously ill for several days and her face was frighteningly pale.

Naomi hesitated and was about to get up and go out to discuss with Cobra who picked her up, but the girl suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.

"Sister...don't go."

Naomi, whose hand was held, stared at the girl's face carefully and managed to utter, "...Okay."

Outside the door, Cobra and Yamato were talking quietly.

"Is it really okay to leave her here? Naomi herself is..."

"She's in much better spirits now, so let's leave it at that for now. When...she's feeling better, we'll go to the police station and report the case."
