Chapter 7

Chapter 7

"Noble is really amazing." Chi Ye said.

If Jesse saw him, he might think he looked familiar. Chi was one of the children abducted by the traffickers earlier.

Ike's eyes aren't big, and another characteristic of her is a circle of freckles evenly distributed around her lips.

He was one of the few children in his family with a Japanese name. Little Asia was still primarily English-speaking. It was originally located very close to the headquarters of the Japanese Navy, which gave rise to this area. When the US military withdrew, some stayed behind and reproduced here, perhaps abandoning their children. The resulting chaos attracted even more people. Of course, most of them spoke Japanese, at least enough to understand it, though they struggled to speak it. They could still get the general idea through gestures. Few knew no Japanese at all. The local children in Little Asia generally had English names. Chi had a Japanese name because he still had vague memories of the time before his uncle threw him here.

Chi Ye remembers that after his parents died in a car accident, he was left in the care of his uncle. His uncle already had two children, and later, his aunt became pregnant. One day, his uncle bought him candy for once. Chi Ye held his uncle's hand, said goodbye to his brother and sister (his biological children), got in the car, and when he woke up, he was already in Little Asia. He was very young at the time, and all he remembered was "Chi Ye." Now, he has forgotten even his last name.

But there is so much suffering in the world, and everyone in Little Asia has a story that deserves a small page in the outside newspaper.

Back to the story, because Chi also has a Japanese name given by his parents, he seems a little special among his companions. Most of them have no names and have never seen their relatives since they became conscious. With some secret jealousy, plus the circle of freckles, everyone prefers to call him "Freckle Man".

So the little girl next to him started talking: "It's a bird boy."

She said slowly, "You're weak and you don't know how to hide. You're holding Noble back... Will Noble get tired of you one day?"

After Lucy finished complaining about Chi Ye, she left him alone outside and suddenly became discouraged. She patted her butt and went into Noble's house.

Their "homes" were actually several houses connected in a row. However, to call them houses, they were probably just larger rooms. Noble's house was slightly larger, divided into two rooms. The larger room, where Jesse had dinner yesterday, was the living room, while the smaller one was the bedroom. The two adjacent houses were divided purely by gender: the girls slept in one room, the boys in another, on a large bunk bed. When they ate or talked about things together, they would gather in Noble's living room.

Noble wasn't home. Lucy knew that the moment she walked in. It was already afternoon, so Noble couldn't possibly still be asleep; he was always so energetic. If Noble were awake and home, he'd be lazing on the sofa outside. Now, the person sitting on the sofa was Hua.

"Xiaohua!" Lucy leaned over affectionately: "What do you want to see me about?"

"Please sit down first." Hua said softly. Hua stood out in Little Asia. She always spoke softly and moved gracefully, like an "outsider" who had never suffered any hardship. Her clothes were not considered superior here, at most they were neat. There were definitely not many people who dressed so neatly in Little Asia, but they were not very rare either. Not all the children here were orphans. Some adults had children here, and adults always had a better life than children. Therefore, it was not easy to tell from just looking at her, and you could feel something was special: there must be something behind this little girl, she seemed to be living a stable life. But anyone who spoke to her for a few words could feel that her temperament was completely different from that of Little Asia.

Her tone, thoughts, and actions are obviously nurtured by love and money.

She was a precious flower that survived in the desert thanks to care. Someone would shield her from the overheating sun, water her with clear water, and scare off the wild beasts that were always scurrying around. But even so, it was only enough for her to live a decent life here.

But the grass was completely different from her. The ground was scorching and the sky was blazing. She had to try her best to absorb the occasional rain. Even with someone's residual power, she couldn't stop the wild beasts from trampling on it carelessly.

…She has to survive on her own.

Lucy pulled a chair and sat across from Hua. It was a regular chair, the sofa was floor-standing, and the cushions were a bit sagging. Hua was a few years younger than Lucy, so they could only look up at each other. It wouldn't have been so obvious, but when the two of them sat facing each other, so close together, it was inevitable.

The flower didn't move, but when people sit on a soft sofa, especially a slightly sagging one, they can't help but sink into it and curl up to make themselves comfortable. This is human instinct.

After all, it's just time for conversation.

And "Cao" bent down a little without making any sound.

Some people cherish beauty, while others envy it.

In a moment of thought.

I saw a person sitting at the door from a distance.

There weren't many streetlights in the area, except for a few windows where a light shone through.

The weather is not good tonight. Most of the moon is blocked and only a few stars can be seen.

Noble's eyesight was pretty good, but at first he could only see a black mass gathering at the door.

What was this? Was it the resentment of the enemy that had come to haunt him? His wild thoughts couldn't be stopped, and the ideas that followed this thought were so funny that he couldn't help but laugh out loud.

As he slowly approached, the appearance of the "resentment" gradually emerged.

"Chiya?"

"Noble!" Chi Ye shouted happily, like a puppy.

"Hmm?" Although it was just a word full of confusion, it contained questions such as "Why are you here?" and "What's the matter?"

...Unfortunately, Chi Ye really didn't understand at all. He just said, "You're finally back!"

Uh. This sense of déjà vu was strong. Noble remembered that a few days ago, he was just walking home as usual when a girl suddenly jumped out and cried, "Noble! You're finally home! A while ago, a group of people took Xiaohua and the others away!"

What was that girl's name? She was the one who often played with Hana.

Let's call her Lucy.
