Cries for help echoed from outside, interspersed with the piercing screams of Void Larvae, rising and falling, weaving together a symphony of death.
Bai Yuekui put down the rag he was using to wipe his Tang sword, stood up, and walked towards the carriage door.
Just as Bai Yuekui was about to open the door, a loud noise suddenly came from outside the RV.
It felt like I'd been hit by something.
Bai Yuekui stopped what he was doing and looked out the window.
A hideously ugly void larva was repeatedly banging its head, which was as hard as iron, against the car window.
Each impact produced a dull "thump, thump, thump..." sound.
Bai Yuekui's face darkened, and he yanked open the car door.
The void larva clinging to the car window hadn't even reacted yet.
Bai Yuekui had already jumped off the carriage with his knife.
—What's going on?
Shouldn't such a small, upright creature be too scared to come out?
The Void Larva turned to look at Bai Yuekui, its already limited brain simply not enough to comprehend the matter.
"Hiss~"
The void larva opened its gaping maw and let out a chilling hiss.
It found the meat of the upright animal in front of it far more delicious than using its brain.
The Void Larva sprang up and charged straight at Bai Yuekui.
Bai Yuekui adjusted his breathing, and instantly slashed out with his Tang sword.
In the thick, inky darkness, a sharp glint of light flashed, like lightning slicing through the night sky, disappearing in an instant.
"Sizzle~"
A sharp whooshing sound rang out as the Void Larva landed behind Bai Yuekui, its body trembling slightly.
Just as it was about to turn around, a stream of dark green, foul-smelling liquid suddenly gushed out, splashing all over the ground.
Immediately afterwards, its body was violently split in two and it collapsed to the ground with a thud.
"So hard."
Bai Yuekui didn't even glance at the void larva that had already split open behind him.
Her gaze remained fixed on the Tang sword she gripped tightly in her hand.
That blow felt like hitting a block of iron.
If this Tang sword hadn't been of exceptional quality and incredibly hard, it probably wouldn't be that insect that's now shattered into pieces.
"Hiss~"
Suddenly, another hissing sound of Void Larvae rang out behind Bai Yuekui.
Bai Yuekui reacted extremely quickly, instantly gripping the hilt of the knife with his other hand and thrusting it forcefully behind him without hesitation.
There was a muffled "plop" sound.
Immediately afterwards, the Void Larva emitted a series of mournful "crunch~ crunch~" sounds.
Bai Yuekui dared not slacken in the slightest, quickly turned around, gripped the Tang sword tightly with both hands, and slashed horizontally.
"Sizzle~"
With a crisp tearing sound, the void larva that had attempted to ambush Bai Yuekui from behind was mercilessly torn apart in an instant, its flesh and blood flying everywhere.
However, the dying cry of this Void Larva attracted the attention of other Void Larvae.
