She snapped her slender, pale fingers lightly, muttering indistinctly, "Another bottle, please!"
"Ms. Xu, you've already had quite a bit to drink, you can't drink anymore!" A staff member hurriedly came over, his face full of concern and worry, and gently advised her.
"I'm not drunk...two more bottles, please!" Xu Jingyan raised her voice, her eyes revealing a hint of stubbornness and sorrow.
As soon as she finished speaking, her body seemed to lose its support, and she fell asleep immediately.
Just then, Xu Jingyan's phone rang, the crisp ringtone sounding particularly jarring in the slightly noisy environment.
Seeing this, the staff member next to him picked up the phone, saw that Han Feng was on the screen, and answered the call, asking him to come and pick the person up quickly.
When Han Feng rushed over, Xu Jingyan groggily opened her eyes and mumbled, "Han Feng...you're finally here! I knew it, you're the only one in this world who's the best to me. Come on, let's have a drink together!"
As she spoke, she struggled to get up, her hands trembling as she picked up the wine bottle and poured Han Feng a full glass of wine.
"Here! Hurry up and drink, I'm feeling really down, have a drink with me to cheer me up."
Xu Jingyan forcefully shoved the wine glass into Han Feng's hand, her eyes filled with sorrow and stubbornness.
Han Feng glanced at Xu Jingyan, who was already completely drunk and unconscious, sighed helplessly, and shook his head.
Seeing Han Feng hesitate, Xu Jingyan became even more persistent, saying in a tearful voice, "Han Feng, if you don't drink with me, then there really won't be anyone else to drink with me!"
Han Feng gritted his teeth, took the wine glass, tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp, then said gently, "Sister Jingyan, let me take you home first."
The two strolled leisurely to the door. Han Feng remembered that Han Bing's shop was nearby, so he quickly took out his phone and called her, asking her to drive over and take Xu Jingyan home.
A short while later, Han Bing arrived. She glanced at her brother and scolded him with a look of disdain: "You got him all drunk like this? What exactly are you trying to do?"
"Grandma, what does this have to do with me? I haven't even settled accounts with you yet! Sister Jingyan has always been clear-headed and rational, but now she's been so angry with that employee of your store that she's out drinking in the middle of the night. That woman is definitely responsible for her current state."
"For the sake of our childhood friendship, you should fire that woman!" Han Feng complained to Han Bing, his anger boiling over.
Han Bing rolled her eyes at him, her tone indifferent: "Han Feng, I think you're seriously ill. I've always kept my public and private matters separate. When it comes to employees, I only care whether they can generate profits for me. The rest is their personal life, which I neither care about nor bother with."
Han Feng was furious with his unconventional younger sister, his face flushed red. "Han Bing..."
"Enough with the nonsense, are you going to take her home or not?" Han Bing frowned impatiently, her eyes showing disdain.
"Send her away, send her away, send her away, send her away..." Han Feng was completely defeated by his sister's attitude and hurriedly helped Xu Jingyan into the car.
"Aren't you leaving?" Han Bing glanced at him sideways.
Han Feng gently closed the car door and waved his hand, "No, I have some things to take care of at the company, I need to go back. You take her home first..."
Before he could finish speaking, the car sped away. Watching it disappear into the distance, he slowly uttered two words, "Home..."
"Damn it! Han Bing!" Han Feng finally couldn't hold back and shouted at the top of his lungs in the direction the car had driven away. The only response he got was a cloud of choking exhaust fumes.
Han Feng glanced at the time and headed towards the company. He hadn't gone far when he felt a wave of dizziness.
"I didn't expect this drink to have such a strong aftereffect..." Han Feng shook his head vigorously, and his mind cleared up a little.
He continued walking, his steps uneven, passing through a narrow, cramped alley. The alley was deep and dimly lit, and only the sound of his own footsteps echoed dully in the silent air.
Suddenly, several dark figures appeared before him. The light was so dim that he couldn't make out their faces at all.
"Hey sir, judging by your outfit, it doesn't look cheap. You must be a wealthy guy. How about giving us some money to spend?"
A man holding a baseball bat took a step forward, grinning and letting out a creepy laugh.
Han Feng instinctively took a step back, his eyes filled with vigilance, his voice trembling slightly: "What do you want?"
The man tapped the ground lightly with his baseball bat, the sound seeming to emanate from the earth: "Isn't it obvious? It's a robbery, of course!"
"What you're doing is illegal!" Han Feng tried to intimidate them.
The man scoffed and replied nonchalantly, "Whether it's illegal or not doesn't matter. Look at your rich clothes, you'd make a lot of money from a robbery, enough for us to eat for a while. Even if we get caught, we're already struggling to make ends meet outside. If we end up in jail, the government will still provide food, so it's not so bad!"
Han Feng's heart skipped a beat; he knew he had met his match.
He quickly looked around and found that there was only one way out behind him. Under normal circumstances, he would have been able to run away easily, but at this moment he was dizzy and confused, and the other side had a large number of people. He probably couldn't outrun them even if he tried to run.
But if he didn't run, his chances of survival were slim. In desperation, Han Feng shouted at the top of his lungs towards the men's backs, "Li Lianjie! What are you doing here?"
The men were bewildered by the sudden shout and instinctively turned to look. Han Feng seized the opportunity, turned around, and ran away.
The group quickly realized they had been tricked, and, enraged, immediately gave chase.
He had only run a few steps when Han Feng suddenly felt dizzy and his head spun more and more violently. Just then, a baseball bat came crashing down on his head with a whoosh. Han Feng couldn't dodge in time and could only cover his head with his hands.
The next second, excruciating pain shot through both hands.
Han Feng stared in astonishment as another baseball bat whistled down, and he closed his eyes in despair, bracing himself for the impending agony.
However, several seconds passed, and the expected pain did not come. Unexpectedly, several piercing screams rang in my ears.
Han Feng cautiously opened his eyes and saw that all the men had large bumps on their foreheads and were grimacing in pain.
Han Feng subconsciously looked back and saw a girl a few meters behind him holding a worn-out slingshot. Her eyes were firm, and her hands moved without stopping. With a "whoosh", a shot of five pebbles flew towards those people like shooting stars.
Almost simultaneously, all five men screamed in pain.
"Hurry up and go!" The girl rushed up behind Han Feng and grabbed his arm.
