Tian Jingjing's hands were bulging with veins, her fists clenched tightly. She gritted her teeth and retorted, "Sister Zhang, I've put up with you for a long time! Everyone has their own pursuits. I have no objection if you're willing to stay in this dark and damp rented room for the rest of your life, but I'm different from you. I'm not as pathetic as you. I'm not willing to marry a penniless husband. I have my own life that I yearn for."
"What? You're calling me a coward?" Upon hearing this, Sister Zhang was so angry that she gasped for breath, and her outstretched hand pointing at Tian Jingjing trembled slightly.
Tian Jingjing's eyes darted around, as if she suddenly remembered something, and a mocking smile curled at the corner of her lips. "I think I understand now. You're just like me, aren't you? You also want to climb up to a man and live a good life, but you're too old, your looks have faded, and no one wants you. This path is blocked for you, so you're jealous of me, aren't you?"
Sister Zhang was so angry she laughed. It's true what they say, there are all sorts of birds in a big forest. You can never judge others by your own standards.
"Miss Tian, I don't have as many ulterior motives as you. I just can't stand that you're eating what's in your bowl while eyeing what's in the pot. Xiao Ji is so good to you. If you don't want to be with him anymore, just say so as soon as possible, don't delay him from finding other good girls."
I've crossed more bridges than you've walked roads, and I have a keen eye for people. Here's one last piece of advice: the sugar daddy you've hooked up with today is nowhere near as good as Xiao Ji. You've missed your chance with Xiao Ji; you'll likely never find someone so devoted to you again, someone willing to support you unconditionally!
"Shut up!" Tian Jingjing roared at the top of her lungs, like a fighting rooster that had been completely enraged.
She had heard this woman mention countless times that Ji Lun had taken care of her. Although what the woman said was true, Tian Jingjing still felt somewhat resentful.
"It's his choice to support me, and even without him, I can find a job to support myself!"
Back in her room, Tian Jingjing grew increasingly angry. She angrily pulled out her phone and dialed Mr. Sun's number.
Mr. Sun had just left and was driving on the road.
Seeing that it was Tian Jingjing calling, he casually swiped to answer, his voice tinged with a hint of teasing: "What? I just left and you're already missing me?"
Tian Jingjing had no time for small talk and cut straight to the point, "I want to work. Help me figure out a way to get a job at your company!"
Mr. Sun was visibly taken aback, his hand on the steering wheel stiffening slightly: "Go to work? Why are you suddenly thinking of going to work? Isn't the money I give you enough?"
Zhang Jie's words of mockery about her being supported by a man kept echoing in Tian Jingjing's mind. She pursed her lips and finally managed to squeeze out a sentence: "I'm just too bored being alone, so I wanted to find something to do!"
After a moment's thought, Mr. Sun realized that he could arrange a job for her. If he could bring her to his company and have her be his secretary, perhaps... they could even have a thrilling office affair during the day.
Thinking this, President Sun's lips curled up slightly, forming a meaningful arc: "Okay, then I'll make the arrangements."
At 10 p.m., in a bar in the city center, the lights were dim and hazy, and heavy metal music surged like a tidal wave, impacting people's eardrums wave after wave, making the air vibrate slightly.
In the dance floor, a group of young men and women are dancing passionately.
Ji Lun sat alone at the bar, several empty bottles lying haphazardly in front of him, reflecting a sense of loneliness and desolation under the flickering lights.
He tilted his head back slightly, raised the nearly empty bottle in his hand, and held the bottle mouth to his lips, trying to take a few more sips of wine. However, the bottle was already empty, and not a single drop of wine could be poured out.
Ji Lun frowned slightly, picked up the bottle, stared at it for a moment, and then, with a hint of annoyance, tossed the bottle aside.
In a corner of the bar, Han Bing, dressed in a black dress, had fair skin, and the black dress perfectly accentuated her cool and elegant temperament.
She sat quietly on the sofa, having already noticed Ji Lun's every move at the bar.
"Hey, Bingbing," Mu Rong said, reaching out and gently patting Han Bing's shoulder.
She leaned close to Han Bing's ear and said loudly, "I admit, that man is indeed quite handsome, but what kind of men haven't you seen? What's so special about him that he could make our Miss Han stare at him for a full ten minutes!"
Han Bing picked up the wine on the table, drank it all in one gulp, but her eyes were still fixed on the direction of the bar.
"Bingbing, what's wrong with you?" Mu Rong frowned, her eyes filled with worry, when she noticed that Han Bing seemed a little off.
Just then, a woman with a graceful figure walked up from behind Ji Lun. She raised her hand and gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, exuding charm. She then sat down in the empty seat next to Ji Lun.
"Handsome, are you alone?" The woman's lips parted slightly, her eyes smiling, her voice so soft and alluring it seemed to drip with water.
Ji Lun glanced at her indifferently, as if she were just a wisp of air, and didn't say anything. He simply raised his hand to signal the waiter to order another drink.
Before long, the waiter quickly handed over the wine. Ji Lun took the glass and, without saying a word, tilted his head back and gulped it down.
"Hey handsome, you can really drink! How about you buy me a drink?" The woman smiled, a charming smile playing on her lips, and continued to strike up a conversation, unwilling to give up.
Ji Lun didn't even lift his eyelids, choosing to ignore him as before.
The woman's gaze swept over the mountain of empty wine bottles in front of Ji Lun. Her eyes flickered, and she parted her lips slightly, asking softly, "Handsome, are you in a bad mood?"
As she spoke, she leaned slightly closer to Ji Lun, pointed her finger towards the center of the dance floor, and said, "Just drinking is so boring, how about we go dance and relax?"
Ji Lun looked in the direction the woman was pointing. In the dance floor, the lights flickered, and a group of men and women were dancing intimately in the interplay of light and shadow.
Seeing that Ji Lun's gaze was drawn to her, the woman took advantage of his distraction and quietly took out a pill from her handbag, then swiftly placed it into Ji Lun's wine bottle.
Han Bing, who was in the corner, saw all of this clearly and stood up abruptly.
"Bingbing! Where are you going?" Seeing this, Mu Rong quickly reached out and grabbed Han Bing's hand. "Don't be impulsive! He's just a man, is it really worth it!"
"You don't understand, that man is too naive. I'm afraid he'll be deceived!" Han Bing said anxiously.
