Chapter 37 Ruin

Shi Nan suppressed her anger and tried to speak calmly, "Xiao Ya, I'll say it again, I'm not a mistress, and things between him and me aren't what you think!"

Zhao Xiaoya sighed, somewhat helplessly. "I told you long ago not to take shortcuts like this. Does the truth even matter? People will only believe what they see. Just because you say you're innocent doesn't mean they're obligated to believe you. Fine, I'm not your parent. Do whatever you want, it's none of my business, and you don't need to explain." With that, Zhao Xiaoya pulled her cartoon pajamas tighter and headed towards her room.

Downstairs, Wan Qing ran out of the residential area, panting, and found a secluded spot to make a phone call.

"Miss Cheng, I did as you said and made a scene at Shi Nan's place. Lots of people came to watch the show, and I guess now many people know that she has a promiscuous private life." The man chuckled twice after saying that.

The woman on the other end of the phone was clearly displeased. "Didn't I tell you not to call me?"

The man was taken aback, then smiled obsequiously, "Miss Cheng, we agreed that I would help you deal with that woman, and you would give me 300,000 yuan. You haven't forgotten, have you?"

Cheng Siyan took a deep breath. "Don't you even think about how much you spend at Marriott in one night? How much money did I spend to create this high-net-worth persona for you?"

The man immediately sensed something was wrong. "Miss Cheng, you can't calculate it like that. That was spent to complete the mission, it's public money, how can you put it on my tab? You don't mean you don't want to pay, do you?"

Cheng Siyan gritted her teeth and said, "Don't worry, the 300,000 will be in my account soon."

The man chuckled and said, "As long as the money is right, I'll put on an even better performance for the rest of the show, don't worry!"

Just as the man was about to hang up, Cheng Siyan quickly called out, "Wait!"

"What's wrong? Is there anything else you need?" the man asked.

"From now on, only I can contact you. Don't you dare call me, understand?" Cheng Siyan warned fiercely.

“Okay!” the man replied readily.

Cheng Siyan hung up the phone, then found Xu Jingyan's number. She wanted to call and tell Xu Jingyan that she had dealt with the woman who had designs on Lu Yanting, but then she changed her mind.

Sister Jingyan is so kind, she definitely wouldn't harm Shi Nan, so this kind of thing can only be done by Cheng Siyan. Sister Jingyan is so good to her, she must help her properly!

Cheng Siyan clenched her hands again, feeling it was unfair and that Xu Jingyan deserved better.

Lu Yanting and Xu Jingyan were childhood sweethearts and had a long-standing relationship. She knew that Xu Jingyan liked Lu Yanting very much, and Lu Yanting was always the first to help Xu Jingyan whenever she needed it. To anyone, they seemed like a match made in heaven.

Jingyan had waited so many years, but Lu Yanting not only hadn't proposed, he was also flirting with other women. Thinking of this, her eyes turned cold. All of this was caused by that woman named Shi Nan!

As dawn broke, Qiu Mang and Shi Nan went out together. Just then, the door opposite them slowly opened, and an old woman stepped out. The moment the old woman looked up and saw Shi Nan, she was taken aback, then sighed softly, her expression complex.

"Grandma, hurry up! I'm going to be late!" A little boy who looked about five or six years old skipped out of the house, his soft little hands tightly gripping the old lady's sleeve.

"Okay, let's go!" The old lady came to her senses and took the little boy's hand.

The little boy looked up and his eyes met those of Shi Nan and Qiu Mang, who were standing at the door. His eyes lit up instantly, and a joyful smile spread across his face. His clear voice echoed in the hallway: "Good morning, Sister Shi Nan and Sister Qiu Mang! I'm going to kindergarten. Are you going out too?"

Shi Nan's lips curled into a gentle smile as she raised her hand, ready to respond to the little boy's greeting.

But the next second, the old lady seemed to be startled by something, her face changed drastically, and without saying a word, she grabbed the little boy and hurried towards the stairwell, muttering, "Didn't you say it was too late? Why aren't you hurrying up?"

The little boy stumbled from the sudden force, his little feet frantically moving on the ground. He kept turning his head, his eyes filled with grievance and reluctance, muttering, "Grandma, why are you pulling me? You're going down the stairs so fast, I'm going to fall!"

The little boy's voice echoed in the empty stairwell, gradually fading until the figures of the old man and the child completely disappeared around the corner.

Shi Nan slowly withdrew her hand, which had been hovering awkwardly in mid-air, and said softly with a self-deprecating smile, "Let's go!"

Shi Nan and Qiu Mang went downstairs and encountered many neighbors from the same building along the way. Everyone looked at the two of them with strange eyes.

Qiu Mang frowned slightly, breaking the somewhat dull silence between the two, and said, "It seems that what happened last night has already spread."

Shi Nan shook his head with a wry smile: "With such a commotion last night, it's understandable that everyone knows about it."

Qiu Mang seemed to suddenly realize something, "What he said last night... he could have told you privately, but he insisted on coming to your house to make a scene. Do you think that guy surnamed Wan is deliberately trying to ruin your reputation?"

Shi Nan shrugged. "Whatever. If I really can't stand it, I'll just move."

As evening fell and the city was enveloped in colorful neon lights, Shi Nan and Qiu Mang went to work at Marriott as usual.

"Shi Nan, why are you so late? Mr. Wan has been waiting for you for ages. Hurry up and go to Mr. Wan's private room." The head waitress rushed over with small, quick steps. She was petite, but her steps were unusually rapid. Her high heels made a "tap tap tap" sound as she walked. Seeing that Shi Nan had already changed into her work clothes, she urged her impatiently.

Qiu Mang and Shi Nan exchanged glances, their faces instantly showing distress. Qiu Mang stepped forward, blocking Shi Nan's path, "Foreman, could we perhaps have someone else assigned to Manager Wan?"

The head waiter looked at the two of them with a puzzled expression, his brows furrowed. "Shi Nan has always been in charge of Mr. Wan's private room. Why are you suddenly changing people?"

Shi Nan scratched his head somewhat awkwardly, his fingers unconsciously twirling a strand of hair.

After thinking for a long time, she stammered, "I... I had a little disagreement with Mr. Wan. I'm afraid he'll be angry if I go over there. You said we must always put the client's needs first. So, to make sure the client has a good time, I won't go over there and upset him, okay?"

The supervisor was stunned upon hearing this. "You two had a falling out? No way! I just saw General Manager Wan and he was all smiles! He kept praising you to me."

Qiu Mang and Shi Nan exchanged a glance, both puzzled. Last night's commotion was so chaotic, yet today he's acting like nothing happened? How is that possible?

The supervisor immediately smiled, trying to ease the slightly awkward atmosphere. Her smile carried a hint of reassurance and persuasion: "It's okay. Although I don't know what happened between you two, Mr. Wan is not a narrow-minded person. Go on over there!" She gently patted Shi Nan's shoulder.
