Chapter 64 The Sisters' Gift

Yan Kai nodded slightly and replied briefly, "Yes."

Qiu Mang understood immediately. Yes, if Lu Yanting wanted to know something, what couldn't he find out?

"May I come in, Miss Qiu?" Yan Kai asked with difficulty, his voice tinged with exhaustion.

Qiu Mang then came to her senses and quickly stepped aside to let him into the house.

Yan Kai walked into the living room, put down the pile of things he was carrying, and let out a long sigh of relief, as if he had finally unloaded a heavy burden.

Then, he pointed to several large bags and colorful cardboard boxes and said, "Ms. Qiu, Mr. Lu said that these bags are for the children."

Qiu Mang glanced at the bags, all of which were from well-known high-end children's clothing brands, and nodded slightly.

Then, Yan Kai pointed somewhat nervously to a brown paper bag next to him and said softly, "This is what President Lu asked me to bring to you."

Qiu Mang picked up the brown paper bag, examined it for a moment, and then looked at the various items piled on the sofa. She couldn't help but wonder, "Is this the only one for me?"

Yan Kai nodded firmly: "Yes."

"Miss Qiu, I've left your things here. I'll be going now!" Yan Kai said again.

"Okay." Qiu Mang smiled and saw him out.

At this moment, Qiu Li peeked out of the room, tilted her head, and asked curiously, "Sister, who is it?"

“A friend of my sister’s,” Qiu Mang replied gently with a smile.

As she spoke, she took the items out of the bag one by one. Sure enough, they were all high-end children's clothing: all kinds of princess dresses, exquisite little leather shoes, matching mini bags, and even some finely crafted headdresses, completely fulfilling every little girl's fairytale fantasy.

Several other bags and boxes were also opened, revealing several fluffy dolls and many toys that girls love to play with.

Little Qiu Li's eyes widened in surprise, and she exclaimed, "Sister, your friend is so wonderful!"

After the little girl finished speaking, she excitedly lay down on the pile of princess dresses, waving her arms and legs and shouting with joy.

After a while, the little girl seemed to suddenly remember something, blinked her eyes, and said, "Sister, your friend gave us so many things, shouldn't we treat him to a meal? Like...like...like the custom of reciprocity?"

As Qiu Li spoke, she scratched her head, her face showing a mixture of confusion and uncertainty.

Qiu Mang was amused by her appearance, raised her hand and gently rubbed the top of her head, correcting her, "What do you mean by 'coming and going'? It means 'reciprocity'!"

Qiu Li lowered her head somewhat embarrassedly and muttered softly, "Anyway, that's the gist of it. How about we treat your friend to dinner next time?"

Just then, Qiu Mang's phone rang. She picked it up and looked at it; the name displayed on the screen was Lu Yanting.

Thinking back to today at the hospital, Lu Yanting spoke up for her, which is why the hospital director agreed to help her make an appointment with Director Guan. Now, he has sent so many clothes and toys to Qiu Li.

A warm feeling welled up in Qiu Mang's heart. Holding her phone, she slowly walked to the balcony.

“Lu Yanting,” Qiu Mang spoke first.

"Did you receive the items?" Lu Yanting's deep, magnetic voice came through the phone.

"Yes, I received it. Thank you. My sister really likes the clothes and toys you sent." After saying this, Qiu Mang was momentarily speechless, as she was not a person who was good with words.

After a moment's thought, she added somewhat awkwardly, "Um, thank you for what happened at the hospital today too."

"Hmm," Lu Yanting simply replied.

After a moment of silence, the man suddenly chuckled and asked, "So, what about the gift I gave you? Do you like it?"

Qiu Mang then suddenly remembered the brown paper bag that he had casually tossed into the pile of gifts earlier, which was quite difficult to find.

She brushed a stray hair behind her ear and said softly, "I haven't had a chance to see it yet..."

Before Qiu Mang could finish speaking, she heard Qiu Li's curious voice from behind her, "Sister, what is this? Is it bubble gum?"

Qiu Mang quickly turned around and was instantly stunned by the scene before her.

Qiu Li was standing behind her, holding a box of "little umbrellas". One of them had already been opened, and the little girl was staring at it with a puzzled look and her eyes were full of curiosity.

"Ah Li! This...this isn't candy."

Qiu Mang's cheeks flushed instantly, and she hurriedly snatched the eye-catching "little umbrella" from Qiu Li's hand.

"What's wrong?" Lu Yanting's magnetic voice came from the other end of the phone, tinged with a hint of inquiry.

Qiu Mang froze, glanced back at Qiu Li, and then asked the person on the other end of the phone in an annoyed tone, "Lu Yanting! What do you mean? Why did you send this thing over to me? What are you trying to do?"

After listening, Lu Yanting let out a cold snort. "What do you want to do? What do you think?"

Qiu Mang was immediately filled with shame, embarrassment, and annoyance. She bit her lip and whispered in a low voice, "Then you didn't have to bring it to me all the way here, did you?"

"I'm just kindly reminding you not to forget our deal." Lu Yanting's tone was calm and even, but it inexplicably gave people a sense of pressure.

"Sister, why is your face so red, like a ripe tomato?" Qiu Li, who had been standing obediently to the side like a little tail, looked up and saw Qiu Mang's flushed cheeks, and asked curiously.

Lu Yanting had obviously heard the girl's voice on the other end of the phone and chuckled softly, "Oh, are you blushing?"

"I...I didn't," Qiu Mang quickly denied, but she could clearly feel her face getting hotter and hotter.

"Sister, who called? Was it the person who sent me the princess dress?" Qiu Li blinked her big eyes at Qiu Mang.

Qiu Mang nodded stiffly, then gently patted Qiu Li's head and coaxed softly, "Li, it's getting late. Go back to your room and sleep. I'll come and keep you company right away."

"No! Sister, I want to talk to the person who gave me the princess dress. I want to say thank you to them."

Qiu Li clung tightly to Qiu Mang's clothes with both hands, shaking her arms and acting coquettishly.

Qiu Mang was at a loss for words. After all, she had never seen someone as aloof and distant as Lu Yanting interact with a child before.

"Forget it...forget it..." Qiu Mang murmured, reaching out to pull Qiu Li towards the room.

“I’ll talk to her.” Lu Yanting held his phone, his tone unusually serious.

"Are you sure?" Qiu Mang asked, somewhat surprised.

"It wouldn't be good to spoil the kids' fun," Lu Yanting said.

Qiu Mang nodded, then handed the phone to Qiu Li, who cheered, her joy evident on her face.

Qiu Mang stood silently to the side, watching Qiu Li and Lu Yanting talk on the phone as familiarly as old friends. Qiu Li occasionally let out a clear and melodious giggle.
