Chapter 96 A Meal for Four

Lu Yanting subconsciously turned his head to look, and saw three people chatting and laughing in the kitchen, the atmosphere extremely harmonious. They looked exactly like a happy and fulfilling family of three.

Lu Yanting's eyes narrowed slightly, a barely perceptible emotion flashing deep within them, as he felt the scene before him was inexplicably glaring.

Qiu Li was naturally lively, and after staying in the kitchen for a while, she couldn't sit still anymore. She held a potato in her little hand and squatted down to play with it. The potato rolled around on the ground a few times and finally stopped right next to Lu Yanting's feet.

The little girl chased after the potato, and when she picked it up, she raised her innocent little face and looked up along the pair of straight, long legs in front of her. What came into view was Lu Yanting's strong, angular jawline.

"Big brother!"

The little girl's clear voice rang out, and the next second, she casually tossed the potato in her hand aside and pounced like a happy little rabbit.

Lu Yanting instinctively opened his arms and caught Qiu Li, who was rushing towards him. He then picked her up and a rare tenderness appeared on his usually cold face: "Ali, did you have a good day at school?"

Qiu Li nodded vigorously, her eyes sparkling: "I'm so happy! There are so many children at school, and there's a fun slide." As she spoke, she stretched out her little hand and gestured in the air as if she were talking about a slide.

Ji Lun was already marinating the fish when he saw someone enter the kitchen, so he hurried over.

"And this gentleman is? Armand, please introduce him. Is he your friend?"

Lu Yanting squinted at the man in front of him. He was wearing a white shirt and gold-rimmed glasses, and had a sanctimonious appearance. He looked like a refined scoundrel no matter how you looked at him.

Qiu Mang looked at Lu Yanting's face. Although it was still as cold and stern as ever, only those who knew him well could see the subtle expressions. This was clearly a look that could tear someone to pieces!

Qiu Mang slowly closed her eyes. God, if she is guilty, can't the law punish her?

"Amang... what's wrong?" Jilun asked.

Qiu Mang forced a smile, but her eyes darted around, and she didn't dare to look Lu Yanting in the eye.

"His surname is Lu, and he is... my friend."

"Oh, it's Mr. Lu. Welcome, welcome! Since you're Amang's friend, you're my friend too. You're a guest, please sit in the living room for a while. We're already cooking, so please stay for dinner tonight!"

Ji Lun's tone made it seem as if he were the master of the place. Hearing this, Lu Yanting gritted his teeth and felt a surge of anger rising in his heart.

His gaze was sharp as he glanced coldly at Qiu Mang, then took a deep breath, trying his best to calm himself, and said in as calm a tone as possible, "Pour me a glass of water."

Qiu Mang was picking vegetables when she heard this. She subconsciously put down the vegetables, quickly washed her hands, and turned to go out to pour him some water.

However, Ji Lun was faster, grabbing the water glass first, pouring water neatly, and handing it to Lu Yanting with a smile: "Mr. Lu, here, please have some water!"

Lu Yanting's gaze fell on the water Ji Lun handed him, and his face instantly turned terribly gloomy, his originally cold and stern face now even more chilling.

“Mr. Lu, Amang is a little tired today. Let me pour you some water. It’s all the same.” Ji Lun was completely unaware of the increasingly unpleasant expression on the man’s face beside him.

The atmosphere in the cramped kitchen was somewhat oppressive. Qiu Mang felt that if Ji Lun continued to loiter in front of Lu Yanting like this, Lu Yanting, with his temperament, might explode at any moment.

So Qiu Mang walked over quickly, gently patted Ji Lun on the shoulder, and whispered, "Senior, go check if the soup in the pot is ready."

Ji Lun was reminded by her and suddenly came to his senses: "Oh, right, look at my memory, the soup should be almost ready."

Qiu Mang immediately and deftly poured Lu Yanting another glass of water, handed it to him with both hands, and said softly, "Mr. Lu, please have some water!"

Lu Yanting maintained his cold and aloof expression, his gaze indifferent. He glanced at the water glass in her hand but showed no intention of taking it.

"Mr. Lu? Didn't you want some water?" Qiu Mang frowned slightly, her eyes full of doubt.

Lu Yanting's gaze fell on the girl's slender fingers, and he said coldly, "Your hand... you just slapped him."

Qiu Mang rolled her eyes inwardly, thinking to herself, why didn't he mention that Ji Lun had already entered the room? Given his domineering nature, did he not want the room anymore?

However, Qiu Mang only dared to think it in her heart, but did not dare to show it on her face. She silently turned around to wash her hands and poured him another glass of water, which made Lu Yanting's expression soften a little.

The meal was served on a rectangular dining table. As soon as Qiu Mang sat down, Ji Lun quickly sat down opposite her. Seeing this, Lu Yanting took a long stride and sat down next to Qiu Mang, while Qiu Li reluctantly climbed into the seat diagonally opposite Qiu Mang.

The little girl pouted and mumbled, "I want to sit next to my sister..."

Ji Lun looked troubled and glanced at Lu Yanting before hesitatingly saying, "Mr. Lu, Ali wants to sit with her sister. Would you mind giving her your seat?"

Lu Yanting raised an eyebrow slightly, and with his well-defined fingers, he pushed a plate of tempting sweet and sour fish in front of Qiu Li, saying unhurriedly, "Didn't you say this fish was made for you by this brother? Perfect, let him help you pick out the fish bones."

The little girl's attention was instantly diverted; her eyes sparkled, and a bright smile immediately bloomed on her face: "Okay! Then Brother Jilun, please help me remove the fish bones!"

Ji Lun gave a wry smile and could only nod in agreement.

"Amang, why don't you try this stir-fried pork and see if it suits your taste?"

As Ji Lun spoke, he picked up his chopsticks and gently placed a piece of stir-fried pork, with alternating layers of fat and lean meat, glistening and fragrant, into Qiu Mang's bowl.

"Thank you, senior!" Qiu Mang replied with a smile, picking up a piece of meat and putting it in her mouth.

Suddenly, she felt a warm sensation on her lower back, as if a large hand was gently covering her. Qiu Mang's body tensed up instantly.

She quickly turned to look at Lu Yanting beside her, only to see that the man's expression was normal, as if nothing had happened. He simply picked up the wine glass on the table with one hand and took a sip of wine, looking relaxed and content.

Qiu Mang thought she might be overthinking things, so she lowered her head again and continued eating.

"Aman, you should try this plum ribs too. They're sweet and sour, and most girls like them."

Ji Lun, undeterred, picked up another piece of plum-flavored spare rib, its color bright red and its aroma filling the air, and handed it to Qiu Mang.

The rib looked so delicious and tempting that Qiu Mang couldn't help but swallow and quickly handed the bowl over to take it.
