Chapter 69 Allergies

The man's smile hadn't faded as he reached out and took the fruit salad. "In that case, I'd also like to know what kind of poison they had you put on me."

After the man finished speaking, he picked up his spoon and began to eat.

About five minutes later, Lu Yanting suddenly felt an unbearable itch all over his body. He subconsciously raised his hand and scratched a few times. In a short while, his skin was covered with redness and swelling of varying degrees.

Looking at him, Qiu Mang was at a loss, her starry eyes filled with worry. "What's wrong with you?"

Lu Yanting's face was contorted with pain as he pointed to the bowl on the table and asked with difficulty, "What's in this?"

Qiu Mang was a little puzzled. She stretched out her hand and counted, "It just contains yogurt and some fruit, including strawberries, bananas, dragon fruit, mangoes, and kiwis."

Upon hearing the word "mango," Lu Yanting's facial features instantly contorted in pain.

Qiu Mang seemed to suddenly realize something and exclaimed in surprise, "You wouldn't be allergic to mangoes, would you?"

Lu Yanting gritted his teeth and nodded heavily.

"Don't worry, I'll take you to the hospital right away!" Qiu Mang hurriedly grabbed a coat and put it on, then carefully helped Lu Yanting downstairs.

Once downstairs, Qiu Mang flagged down a taxi, which sped off and quickly arrived at the hospital.

As soon as the two stepped into the emergency room, a nurse quickly came up to them, and after asking about the situation, immediately led Lu Yanting into the ward.

Before long, a doctor walked over quickly, pulled the bed curtain closed, and Qiu Mang was shut out.

"Is his condition serious?" Qiu Mang was a little flustered. She grabbed the nurse's hand, her voice trembling.

The nurse's expression darkened slightly as she looked at her and said earnestly, "Young lady, I'm not trying to criticize you, but as his girlfriend, didn't you even know he was allergic to mangoes? You still let him eat mangoes. Allergies can range from mild to severe; in serious cases, it can lead to shock. Luckily, you brought him here in time."

Qiu Mang felt a buzzing in his head and a ringing in his ears. He only managed to hear the last sentence, "Fortunately, it was delivered in time," before he felt a little relieved. He collapsed into the chair, feeling completely exhausted.

After a while, the doctor finished treating him, and Qiu Mang immediately went to the bedside.

At this moment, Lu Yanting was lying quietly in bed, looking like he was sleeping soundly.

"Doctor, is he alright now?" Qiu Mang stood by the hospital bed and asked softly, her expression slightly hesitant.

The doctor gently pushed up his glasses and said calmly, "We've already treated him, and his condition is basically stable. He'll need to stay in the hospital for observation. You can just look after him. If you need anything, just call me anytime."

"Okay, thank you, doctor." Qiu Mang nodded quickly in thanks.

After the doctor left, Qiu Mang sat down gently by the bedside, her eyes fixed on Lu Yanting on the bed, afraid that something might happen to him again.

At four in the morning, in the quiet hospital room, Lu Yanting's phone suddenly rang. Qiu Mang quickly picked up the phone and saw that the caller ID showed Yan Kai.

The call came at four in the morning, so it must be something important. Qiu Mang didn't dare to delay and quickly swiped the screen to answer.

"President Lu." Yan Kai's respectful voice came from the other end of the phone.

Qiu Mang pursed her lips slightly and replied softly, "Yan Kai, it's me, Qiu Mang."

Yan Kai was clearly taken aback. After a brief pause, he said, "Miss Qiu, is Mr. Lu awake yet? Mr. Lu's flight to Macau is at six o'clock today. Please remind him so that he doesn't miss his trip."

Qiu Mang turned her head to look at Lu Yanting, who looked slightly haggard on the hospital bed, sighed, and said, "He can't go. Something happened."

Qiu Mang briefly recounted what had happened, hesitated for a moment, and then asked apologetically, "Was his trip very important?"

Yan Kai seemed to have seen through her thoughts and quickly said, "It's not particularly important. Some old clients want to invite President Lu over for a meeting and to expand their business."

Yan Kai paused for a moment, then continued, "Ms. Qiu, which hospital are you at? I'll be right there."

Qiu Mang gave him the hospital address, and Yan Kai arrived shortly afterward.

“Ms. Qiu, you should go home first. It’s almost five o’clock. It’s not safe for a child to be home alone.” Yan Kai advised with concern and a low voice.

Qiu Mang then remembered that Qiu Li was still home alone. She glanced at Yan Kai, then at Lu Yanting who was still fast asleep, and nodded in agreement, "Okay, Yan Kai, then thank you for your trouble. If anything happens, you must tell me."

At eight o'clock in the morning, Xu Jingyan walked into the hospital wearing a light purple coat. As she passed the second-floor corridor, she inadvertently caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the ward.

She paused abruptly, then stepped into the ward.

"Yan Kai?"

Yan Kai turned around at the sound of her voice, and when he saw it was her, he was slightly taken aback: "Miss Xu?"

Xu Jingyan's gaze swept over Lu Yanting, who was still fast asleep on the hospital bed. Her brows furrowed, and she asked softly, "What's wrong with Yanting?"

Yan Kai quickly stood up, his expression extremely respectful: "President Lu is allergic to mangoes."

"Mango allergy? How could this be?" Xu Jingyan looked puzzled and subconsciously repeated it in a low voice.

"Is it serious? When was he brought to the hospital?" Xu Jingyan's worry deepened.

“Ms. Xu, Mr. Lu took her to the hospital last night. The doctor has already treated her and there’s nothing serious. She just needs to be observed for now. If everything is normal, she will recover completely after a couple of days of rest,” Yan Kai replied in detail.

Xu Jingyan nodded slightly and said, "Yan Kai, thank you for your hard work. I have a medical check-up scheduled for today. I'll come over to take care of him after I'm done with that."

"Ms. Xu, please go ahead with your work. Don't worry about Mr. Lu!"

After Yan Kai finished speaking, he quickly got up to see her out.

As Xu Jingyan walked out of the ward, she looked up and saw a nurse at the nurses' station not far away. The nurse was resting with her head on her right hand and her eyes closed, looking very tired.

After a moment's thought, Xu Jingyan walked over in her high heels.

When she arrived at the nurses' station, the nurse was still unconscious. Xu Jingyan slightly bent her fingers and gently tapped them twice on the table.

The nurse jolted awake and opened her eyes to see Xu Jingyan standing in front of her.

"Hello, miss, how can I help you?" the nurse asked, yawning widely.

Xu Jingyan pointed to Lu Yanting's ward and asked softly, "When did the patient in that ward arrive?"

The nurse scratched her head and recalled, "It was around 1 a.m. last night, what happened?"

"A little? Who brought him here?" Xu Jingyan was clearly anxious.
