The girl was overjoyed; her tense expression instantly relaxed, and she looked up, her eyes filled with gratitude: "Thank you!"
But in that instant, their eyes met, and they were both stunned.
"Han...Han Bing?" Qiu Mang spoke first, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
The girl's lips twitched slightly, and a look of surprise flashed in her eyes. She quickly replied, "Yes, it's me. You're... Qiu Mang from the last gathering, right?"
Qiu Mang nodded, and then considerately took out a nighttime sanitary napkin from her bag and handed it to Han Bing.
"I have another one for nighttime use here. You can use this if you have heavy flow, just in case."
The girl took the things from Qiu Mang's hand, and inadvertently glanced at the file bag that Qiu Mang had placed on the sink. The file bag was transparent, and the resume inside was clearly visible.
Han Bing cleared her throat. "Um, are you here to look for a job?"
Qiu Mang nodded slightly, then sighed with a wry smile, "Yes, but it didn't go very smoothly."
Han Bing thought for a moment, then rushed into the toilet stall and poked her head out to look at her.
"Wait for me!"
A short while later, Han Bing came out after changing her sanitary napkin.
"What kind of job are you looking for now? If I remember correctly, you used to work in sales, right?" Han Bing walked to the sink, washing her hands slowly as she asked casually.
Qiu Mang smiled slightly and replied, "Yes, but many companies now require employees to work overtime. I have a child at home who needs to be taken care of, so I don't want to look for a job that requires frequent overtime."
"What? You...you have a child?"
Han Bing seemed to have heard some incredible news. Her eyes widened instantly, her face filled with disbelief. She didn't even bother to dry the water droplets on her hands, and just stared straight at Qiu Mang.
Qiu Mang quickly waved his hands and hurriedly explained, "No, no, it's my younger sister. She's only three years old and she's in kindergarten."
"Oh~"
Han Bing's expression of extreme shock gradually subsided, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Han Bing looked in the mirror and carefully tidied her somewhat messy hair.
Then he turned to Qiu Mang and said seriously, "I own a luxury goods store nearby, and we're currently short of staff. I wonder if you'd be interested?"
Qiu Mang knew that Han Bing was a righteous person, but she was afraid that Han Bing was only introducing her to this job to repay the favor of borrowing sanitary napkins before. So she hesitated slightly and said, "I don't know much about luxury goods, and I don't know if I can handle it."
Han Bing's face instantly returned to her usual cold demeanor, but her tone revealed a hint of nonchalance.
“There’s no such thing as being suitable or unsuitable. We all start from scratch. My parents asked my brother and me to run the company together, but I found the company work too boring and tedious. So in my spare time, I partnered with a friend to open this shop. She’s in charge of creative design, and I’m in charge of the actual execution. The shop is still in the preparation stage, and it should be open in about half a month. If you want to come, I’ll save you a spot.”
Qiu Mang looked up at her and asked softly, "Is the shop also in this building?"
Han Bing nodded and replied briefly, "Yes! Come on, I'll take you to see it."
After saying that, the two walked out of the restroom together and stopped across from the store where Qiu Mang had just had her interview.
Han Bing rummaged through her bag for her keys, opened the gleaming glass door, and the two stepped into the store. Han Bing then pressed a switch on the wall.
In an instant, the previously dim and empty space was illuminated by the lights. Inside, there were shelves made entirely of fine solid wood, expensive and dazzling crystal chandeliers hanging overhead, high-end, spacious and comfortable sofas, and all sorts of exquisite ornaments arranged in a pleasing manner.
A faint, delicate fragrance lingered in the air, all of which highlighted the store's refined taste and luxurious style. However, the store was currently empty, as no merchandise was on display.
Qiu Mang couldn't help but take a deep breath, secretly comparing the two places. This place was so much more elegant and sophisticated than the shop across the street where she had interviewed.
"So, Qiu Mang, are you interested in joining us? Don't worry, this is just my side business, so I won't force you to work overtime to boost sales. I've already hired three employees, and if you're willing to come, we'll have four people in the store."
Qiu Mang withdrew her gaze from the surroundings and looked at Han Bing, her eyes filled with gratitude and joy. She said sincerely, "It is an honor to have such an opportunity."
Since there were still two weeks until the opening, Qiu Mang gave Aunt Zhou a two-week vacation, intending to spend all her time with Qiu Li.
That day, Qiu Mang took Ali to kindergarten as usual, and then carefully selected some snacks that little girls like to eat at the convenience store downstairs. She carried the bag upstairs humming a little tune.
As Qiu Mang reached her front door and was about to take out her keys to open it, she inadvertently noticed that the door across the hall was open. She recalled how the workers had always been considerate of her schedule during the renovation, and how they often chatted, so they were quite familiar with each other.
Qiu Mang subconsciously assumed they were finishing up some work. She glanced at the bottles of mineral water she had bought in her bag and thought it would be perfect to give to the workers to quench their thirst. So she stepped into the room opposite.
The room was sparsely furnished. In front of the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, a beige lounge chair stood quietly. Next to the lounge chair was a small, light-colored wooden table with a plate of bright, glistening strawberries that shimmered enticingly in the sunlight.
Qiu Mang looked around curiously, but found no one in sight. Moreover, the house looked like it had already been renovated, and the renovation team shouldn't be here at this time.
Qiu Mang suddenly remembered that the worker who always wore a white hat had told her that their renovation project was finished.
Thinking of this, Qiu Mang frowned. He had just barged into someone else's house, which was definitely trespassing.
Thinking of this, Qiu Mang quickly turned and walked away, trying to leave before being discovered.
Just as she was about to reach the door, she suddenly heard a creak behind her, and the door closed automatically.
Qiu Mang's heart skipped a beat, and she broke out in a cold sweat. She frantically reached for the doorknob, but couldn't open it no matter what she did.
Immediately afterwards, he heard a slight noise. Qiu Mang's heart suddenly raced, and he turned around in a panic. He saw a bedroom door slowly open and a man walk out.
