Chapter 21 A New Job

Her upbringing made it impossible for her to accept being kept by someone and becoming a caged bird.

She firmly believes that what you want must be earned through your own hard work.

Qiu Mang dragged her suitcase downstairs. The company dormitory was not far from Shuiyue Huating, so she walked straight there.

When I arrived at the dormitory building, Shi Nan was already waiting at the door.

The two chatted and laughed as they went up to the third floor. The staff dormitory was a three-bedroom apartment. Shi Nan lived in one room, a young couple from the production department lived in another, and Qiu Mang could only live in the remaining smaller room.

Pushing open the door, they found the room could barely fit a bed, a small wardrobe, and a small table. Shi Nan and Qiu Mang tidied up the room together.

Not long after, the other two people in the dormitory returned. Zhao Xiaoya and Li Peng, dressed in gray work clothes, looked slightly haggard after a day of tightening screws. They were both surprised to see another person in the house.

"Xiaoya, Li Peng, this is my cousin, Qiu Mang. From now on, we'll be colleagues!" Shi Nan hurriedly introduced them.

Zhao Xiaoya and Li Peng were taken aback at first, then greeted each other with smiles.

Qiu Mang felt a sense of goodwill towards the two men, whose clothes were simple and whose smiles were sincere and genuine.

"Hello, my name is Qiu Mang!" Qiu Mang said.

“Xiaoya is my and your sister’s high school classmate. We ran into each other when we were looking for jobs, and then we both got jobs at this company!” Shi Nan said to Qiu Mang.

Zhao Xiaoya's eyes lit up. "Qiu Mang, Qiu Dao, I was wondering why that name sounded familiar! Turns out she's Qiu Dao's sister!"

After Zhao Xiaoya finished speaking, she remembered something and asked again, "By the way, how is Qiu Dao now? Is he back at work?"

Qiu Mang lowered her eyes. "She's married and has children."

Zhao Xiaoya's face showed an expression of expectation, she only said "Oh" and then stopped talking.

The next day, Shi Nan took Qiu Mang to the company to complete the onboarding procedures, and then took her to the technical department to report for duty.

Sun Wei, the head of the technology department, was a man in his thirties. When he saw Qiu Mang, who had a youthful face and fair skin, he couldn't help but frown.

"Young lady, let me make this clear beforehand: our technical department is not a public relations department, nor is it an administrative department. We have higher requirements for your professional skills, and the work can be quite tiring. If you're worried about the hard work, it's not too late to quit now!"

Qiu Mang raised her chin, her face serious. "Minister Sun, don't worry, I will definitely do my job well!"

Sun Wei assumed the girl was just having fun and that she would eventually give up and leave once the novelty wore off, so he didn't take her too seriously.

Unexpectedly, Qiu Mang mastered the professional knowledge in less than half a month in the technical department.

Sun Wei looked at her in surprise, "So I underestimated you! You graduated with an engineering degree?"

He had previously thought that a delicate young girl like her was only suitable for clerical work or reception, never expecting that she would master professional knowledge so quickly.

"I majored in physics in college," Qiu Mang said with a sweet smile.

"Very good!" Sun Wei nodded approvingly.

The next day, Qiu Mang was drawing on her computer as usual when someone nudged her arm and whispered, "The boss is coming to our department in a little while. You've never met him before, right? You'll see him soon!"

Qiu Mang nodded and said "Oh".

She didn't really want to see the boss, but when everyone was talking badly about him last time and asked for her opinion, she said she hadn't met him and couldn't comment. She didn't expect that someone would take it to heart.

Before long, they heard Sun Wei talking to someone at the door. As the footsteps approached, the two appeared in front of them.

There must be some problem with the data. Sun Wei led the man to his workstation, turned on his computer, and started discussing something.

Qiu Mang looked up and saw that the man was their boss, Zhou Haitao.

Having heard that Zhou Haitao and Sun Wei were classmates and that they co-founded the company, Qiu Mang couldn't help but wonder how the people in the technical department dared to speak ill of their boss.

Suddenly, Zhou Haitao looked up from the computer and saw Qiu Mang staring at him. Qiu Mang hurriedly looked away.

Two days later, Sun Wei called Qiu Mang aside and said earnestly, "Qiu Mang, through my observation over this period, I can see that you are very hardworking and have a strong learning ability. You are an invaluable talent in our technical department. Here's the thing, General Manager Zhou is currently short of a secretary with solid professional knowledge, and he wants to transfer someone from our technical department. I just thought of you and wanted to ask if you would be willing to go? Don't worry, General Manager Zhou's secretary's salary will definitely be much higher than yours in the technical department!"

Upon hearing that the salary was high, Qiu Mang naturally had no objections.

Qiu Mang thought that a secretary's job was just to serve tea and water to the boss and print documents. Unexpectedly, on her first day in the boss's office, the boss took her out to socialize.

In the dimly lit private room, several middle-aged men sat at the table. Zhou Haitao, who usually had a cold demeanor at the company, became lively and cheerful.

"Come on, Mr. Zhang, the batch of goods we ordered from you last time received unanimous praise from our customers and earned our company a good reputation. This is a toast to you!" Zhou Haitao walked up to Mr. Zhang with a wine glass in hand, his face full of flattery.

"Mr. Wu, we've been old friends for many years. I had someone study the proposal you mentioned last time, and I think it's very promising. I'll find some time to visit you and discuss it in more detail. You're truly a business genius; every idea you come up with benefits our company immensely." Zhou Haitao turned to Mr. Wu with a beaming smile.

"Brother Zhao, that client you introduced last time was really reliable. Our cooperation is getting smoother and smoother. I'd like to toast you! We'll have to rely on you to introduce us to more high-quality clients in the future," Zhou Haitao said enthusiastically to General Manager Zhao.

"Mr. Li, you see, we've been working together for quite some time now, and your company's strength is evident to all. If you have any good projects in the future, be sure to think of me, your brother," Zhou Haitao said, filling Mr. Li's glass with wine.

"Mr. Wang, your reputation in the industry has been legendary lately. I've been looking for an opportunity to learn from you, and I hope you won't hesitate to share your knowledge." Zhou Haitao's smile grew even brighter as he moved among the various executives.

Qiu Mang sat in her seat, somewhat at a loss. This was her first time attending a social event, and seeing her boss lowering himself to drink and chat with everyone, she didn't know what to do.

However, she felt it wasn't appropriate to just sit there, so she slumped her shoulders slightly, trying to minimize her presence and hoping that no one would notice her.

However, this was obviously impossible. With a table full of men and her being the only woman, how could she not be noticed?

The atmosphere at the dinner table was lively, with several CEOs beaming under Zhou Haitao's flattery. At that moment, CEO Zhang inadvertently glanced at Qiu Mang, who had been standing quietly to the side.

"Oh, this young lady has been keeping quiet all this time. Come on, young lady, have a drink." General Manager Zhang raised his glass to Qiu Mang.
