Chapter 95 Bowing to the Starry Sky
——The stars are ever bright, and all sharp edges bow to her. On the throne, protection is his only code.
Ever since the day he learned that Ruan Xingchen was pregnant, the Southeast Asian tyrant had become the most vigilant guard. Even the sound of wind blowing through the curtains could make Mo Xiaohan's nerves tense instantly.
As the morning light began to shine, Mo Xiaohan's hand regained consciousness before his consciousness. His palm subconsciously reached to his side, and after touching Ruan Xingchen's warm waist, he slowly opened his eyes.
He propped himself up, his eyes sweeping over her body inch by inch, making sure her breathing was steady, her lips were rosy, and she wasn't feeling any discomfort, then he leaned over and kissed the corner of her lips.
"Awake?" Ruan Xingchen chuckled with his eyes closed. "You're staring at me until I feel hot all over."
Mo Xiaohan placed his palm on her lower abdomen, which was still flat and looked normal, but he was very cautious.
"Is the child making a fuss?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
Ruan Xingchen turned over and hugged his neck, unable to help but laugh: "Mr. Mo, he is only the size of a grain of rice right now, and even his heartbeat has just formed. How could he make a fuss?"
Mo Xiaohan said nothing, just pursed his lips, leaned over and put his ear to her lower abdomen to listen.
After a moment, he used the lips that had issued the order to kill to utter the most clumsy love words: "I am your father... I will pick the moon for you in the future." The morning light cast a soft light on his cold and hard profile, reflecting a bit of godly tenderness.
Ruan Xingchen woke up in the morning and walked barefoot across the soft carpet in the bedroom. Just as he was about to reach for the glass of water by the window, a low warning came from behind him: "Don't move."
Mo Xiaohan strode over, his black silk nightgown stirring with a gentle breeze. He knelt on one knee, cupping her slightly cold ankle with his palm, and carefully slipped her soft-soled slippers onto her.
"I've told you so many times," he said, his brow furrowed so tightly that it could kill a mosquito, "you are not allowed to go barefoot."
Ruan Xingchen smiled helplessly.
At the breakfast table, Mo Xiaohan stared at the cod fillet that the chef had just served. He suddenly tapped the rim of the cup with his silver fork: "The spices are too strong."
"Madam has a heavy taste lately..." the chef trembled with fear.
"Switch to steamed." He pushed the pepper oil and handed the small bowl of lemon juice to Ruan Xingchen. "From now on, send all menus to me for review first."
Ruan Xingchen bit her fork and protested: "I'm pregnant, not in jail..."
Before she could finish her words, she was fed a spoonful of warm bird's nest. Mo Xiaohan wiped the milk stain from the corner of her lip with his thumb, but his eyes swept towards the garden outside the window. The three gardeners were being searched one by one by the guards to ensure that the pruning tools would not "accidentally" scratch the hostess.
When he looked away, he happened to meet Ruan Xingchen's helpless eyes. He simply said, "You and the child deserve the most secure and comprehensive care in the world."
In the study in the afternoon, Mo Xiaohan was reviewing documents, but he couldn't help but stare at Ruan Xingchen distractedly.
She was curled up on the sofa reading a medical journal. Just as she stood up to pour some water, he pressed the communicator and ordered, "Send a cup of warm honey water with half a spoonful of maple syrup. Keep the cup at a constant temperature of 40 degrees."
Ruan Xingchen looked at him with a mixture of laughter and tears: "You installed sensors on me?"
Mo Xiaohan raised his head from the pile of documents: "You licked your lips twice just now. You always do this when you are short of water."
He stood up and walked over, pushing her back onto the sofa, his palm gently caressing her lower abdomen: "Don't move, I feel dizzy from reading the documents."
Ruan Xingchen raised an eyebrow: "You held a gun to Taiyangxue while signing an arms contract, but you didn't even say you were dizzy."
"It's different now." He bit her earlobe and whispered, "There's a new little ancestor here."
As night fell, Mo Xiaohan personally tested the water temperature and placed a non-slip mat on the edge of the bathtub before allowing her to take a bath. Ruan Xingchen laughed at him for being overly nervous.
"I'm really not that squeamish..."
He squeezed her hand and said seriously, "There are water stains on the ground. What if you slip?"
Late at night, a rainstorm suddenly hit, and Ruan Xingchen woke up with a start when thunder exploded.
The bed next to her was empty. She walked out of the bedroom and found Mo Xiaohan standing in front of the baby room design, with a pen in his hand marking the specifications of the protective armor.
"The bulletproof glass needs to be three layers, with the highest impact resistance standards, and the air filtration system needs to be military-grade." He gave a cold order into the communicator. When he turned and saw her, his tone softened instantly. "Why are you awake?"
Ruan Xingchen pointed out the window: "The thunder is so loud."
The next second, she was carried back to bed, warm palms covering her ears. Mo Xiaohan hummed a rough lullaby, the melody mixed with the sound of rain, which made her feel strangely at ease.
"I'll have the weather department keep an eye on it," he said, placing a soft kiss on her belly. "And clear all the thunderclouds with cloud-clearing bombs."
Ruan Xingchen smiled and bit his shoulder: "Tyrant, you even want to control the clouds."
"Yeah," he admitted frankly.
Ruan Xingchen raised her hand and gently touched the side of his face: "What if the child becomes so fierce in the future?"
"Then teach him that only wolves that bite can protect their nests."
It was raining heavily outside the window, but on the throne, the rose was quietly nurturing new brilliance.
