Chapter 79 Song Yan had doubts

Chapter 79 Song Yan Has Doubts

International Convention and Exhibition Center.

At the summit, security personnel stood at attention on both sides of the main aisle, which was covered with a red carpet. Political and business elites chatted in hushed tones, clinking glasses and exchanging toasts, all of which were about the game of interests.

Song Yan stepped out of the black Maybach, his sharp-tailored dark gray suit highlighting his upright shoulders and exuding an air of aloof nobility.

He stepped into the venue and went straight to the VIP box on the second floor according to the reserved number.

The private room offers an excellent view, allowing you to see the entire venue.

As soon as Song Yan sat down, a waiter brought him whiskey.

He accepted it and nodded his thanks.

I hadn't been sitting for long when I suddenly heard a commotion downstairs.

Song Yan frowned slightly, stood up and walked to the railing outside the private room, looking down at it.

The crowd parted to both sides like a tide, and reporters swarmed forward, their flashes going off wildly.

Security personnel quickly lined up and cleared a passage.

Then, a tall figure stepped in.

Jiang Wang appeared.

For a moment, everyone in the room was looking at him.

Song Yan's eyes darkened slightly.

He had long known that Jiang Wang held an extraordinary position in the capital, but he never expected it to be to this extent.

A simple entrance was enough to draw the attention of the entire summit venue.

Jiang Wang couldn't even muster a perfunctory smile for these media outlets, and glanced around with slight impatience.

Perhaps sensing Song Yan's gaze, Jiang Wang looked up.

Their eyes met in mid-air.

Song Yan smiled and raised his cup in a gesture of greeting.

A moment later, Jiang Wang appeared at the door of the private room.

He put one hand in his pocket, casually loosened his tie with the other, and stepped inside.

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Song Yan spoke first, a perfectly timed smile playing on his lips.

Jiang Wang walked straight to the liquor cabinet, poured himself a glass of whiskey, and said, "Let's not do that between us."

He tilted his head back and drank it all, his Adam's apple bobbing as a casual, nonchalant glint flashed in his eyes.

Song Yan didn't take it seriously, lightly tapping the armrest with his fingertips, and went straight to the point: "If the Song family were to handle the Songgang project alone, the returns would probably be just average."

He paused, then looked tentatively at Jiang Wang, "But if the Jiang Group gets involved, and combines your coastal resources, your reputation and profits will double."

Jiang Wang took out a cigarette case from the inside pocket of his suit and slowly lit a cigarette.

He sat opposite Song Yan, crossed his legs, and amidst the swirling smoke, pressed his finger to the corner of his eye, a half-smile on his face: "That makes perfect sense."

That's always how it is when two people are together.

One room, two styles: one is very conventional, and the other is very casual and relaxed.

Song Yan nodded and tentatively asked, "President Jiang, would you like to consider it?"

Jiang Wang slowly leaned forward, his sharp gaze sweeping over Song Yan before finally exhaling a smoke ring: "Your ambitions have grown lately, haven't they?"

Song Yan's expression remained unchanged, only his knuckles tightened slightly.

"What?" Jiang Wang narrowed his eyes, his tone playful, deliberately drawing out his words: "Are you in such a hurry to inherit the company because something important is happening?"

Song Yan gently stroked the rim of the wine glass with his fingertips, his tone calm: "Not at all, it's all for the Song family."

He paused, a dark glint flashing in his eyes. Suddenly, Si Yuan's figure appeared before his eyes, and he forced a bitter smile.

"Besides, I have many things I want to do. Always acting under my parents' authority inevitably restricts my actions."

Jiang Wang chuckled upon hearing this, flicking his cigarette ash with his slender fingers: "I thought you, Song Yan, would never have a rebellious phase in your life."

He glanced meaningfully at Song Yan's increasingly tense jawline, and silently let out a cold laugh.

Just then, the door to the private room was pushed open.

"Wow, it's so lively here?"

Fang Yan barged in, dressed in a flamboyant burgundy suit, exuding an air of arrogance and prestige.

His arrival immediately eased the somewhat somber atmosphere.

Fang Yan first gestured with his chin towards Song Yan: "Young Master Song has also come to the capital? Then I must show him some hospitality!"

He sprawled out on the sofa as if he knew his place well, "Let's have a party tonight, anyone who doesn't come is a coward!"

Song Yan raised his cup and clinked it against his, his expression softening slightly.

Then, Fang Yan turned to look at Jiang Wang.

Then his gaze lingered on his collar, and he exaggeratedly rubbed his eyes: "Am I seeing things? Young Master Jiang is actually wearing a tie today?"

He teased, "You even wore this little shabby summit? It doesn't fit your image at all!"

Jiang Wang glanced at Song Yan slowly before turning to Fang Yan.

"What do you know? My girlfriend made it herself this morning, so I have to wear it no matter what..."

He deliberately dragged out the last syllable, adding meaningfully, "I'll wait for her to personally explain it to me tonight."

Song Yan didn't participate in their explicit jokes; he just smiled awkwardly and shook his head.

Fang Yan looked like he'd seen a ghost, his eyes widening dramatically: "It's that girl from Haicheng who gave you a hickey? You've brought her all the way to Beijing?"

Jiang Wang smiled slightly, a hint of smugness in his eyes: "Yes, this winter solstice, I'll take her home to meet my parents."

"So fast?!"

Fang Yan was so shocked she almost jumped off the sofa.

But then she realized something and glanced subtly at Song Yan, who was completely unaware of the situation, thinking to herself, "What a massive battleground this is!"

Brother Ren is still sitting across from us.

Fang Yan deliberately dragged out her words, asking meaningfully, "But you can't just meet your parents, can you? What about her parents? You have to meet them too, right?"

Jiang Wang remained expressionless, lightly tapping his wine glass with his fingertips, and said calmly, "Her parents are gone."

The private room fell silent for a moment.

Song Yan's previously nonchalant expression paused slightly.

He seemed to have made a connection to something, and his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily.

The next second, an absurd yet chilling guess surfaced in Song Yan's mind.

He suppressed his surging emotions and forced a casual smile, saying, "We're getting together tonight, why don't you bring your girlfriend along to meet us?"

Jiang Wang calmly swirled his wine glass: "Alright."

Upon hearing this, Fang Yan gasped and secretly kicked Jiang Wang under the table.

As the only person in the know who knew this shocking revelation, Fang Yan was all too aware that Song Yan had practically turned Haicheng upside down in the past few days in his search for his sister.

If they were to run into someone on the spot who had been abducted by Song Yan, it could lead to serious trouble.

Jiang Wang, however, seemed oblivious and added slowly, "But whether she agrees or not, I can't say for sure."

A dark glint flashed in Song Yan's eyes as he raised his chin: "Why don't you just make a phone call and ask?"

"That's right."

Jiang Wang calmly took out his phone and tapped the screen a few times with his slender fingers.

Then, he put the phone to his ear.

The air inside the private room seemed to freeze.

Fang Yan was so nervous that she forgot to breathe, her gaze constantly shifting between the two of them.
