Chapter 225 Where to Take Us
Silence filled the room, and the flickering candlelight cast their shadows on and off.
Si Yuan slowly turned around, her eyes reddening, but she held back her tears.
She looked at Song Yan, raised an eyebrow, and said in a conciliatory tone, "Happy birthday."
Song Yan was stunned, and the coldness in his eyes vanished instantly.
Instead, there was genuine happiness, and a faint, almost imperceptible, bittersweet feeling.
But Si Yuan didn't look at him.
Her gaze fell on the flickering candlelight, her tone icy and devoid of any warmth: "I told you, don't hurt Xiaozhou, blow out the candles."
His elation was instantly dampened, and the smile on Song Yan's face froze.
He knew that the blessing wasn't because she liked him, or because she cared about him, but simply because he had used the small boat as a threat.
Si Yuan, you still don't understand me at all.
You don't understand me. You don't know that your constant worry for Jiang Wang is driving me crazy.
They don't know me well enough. I watched Xiaozhou grow up, how could I really do anything to him?
He didn't ask, but just muttering it in his mind was enough to cause him excruciating pain.
He knew the answer too.
Even so, Song Yan couldn't help but tear up and murmured, "Okay, I won't hurt him, I promise you."
He raised his hand and extinguished the candle.
"Shall we eat together?"
Si Yuan's body won't be able to handle not eating for too long.
Si Yuan didn't move and slowly said, "I'm not hungry."
Song Yan didn't press her for details. Instead, he picked up a small spoon, scooped out a small piece of cake, and held it to her lips.
"Eat something, you're starving, and Xiaozhou will be sad too."
Song Yan's voice was cold and ruthless, as if it carried a hint of threat, but his fingertips were still trembling.
His eyes held a cautious expectation, and a hint of humble pleading.
Mentioning Xiaozhou made every cell in Siyuan's body scream with excitement.
She opened her mouth and put the piece of cake in her mouth.
The sweetness of the cream spread in her mouth, but it was as hard to swallow as poison, making her stomach churn.
The last time I ate such a terrible cake was at my birthday party.
At her birthday party, Lin Shuangyu revealed her painful secret: Song Yan had abandoned her once again...
The cake that day was also terrible.
Si Yuan suppressed her nausea, chewed slowly, and then swallowed.
Song Yan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she had finally eaten.
He took back the small spoon, picked up another spoon, scooped out a piece, and put it in his mouth.
It's too sweet; he never likes to eat it.
But he thought it tasted delicious today; it was the best cake he had ever eaten in his life.
Perhaps because he was in a good mood, Song Yan suddenly softened a bit.
“Let me take you to see Xiaozhou.” Song Yan put down the spoon and stood up. “He’s very well-behaved, he didn’t cry or fuss, he just misses you a little.”
Caught off guard, Si Yuan looked up abruptly: "Really?"
"Really." Song Yan nodded, looking at her beautiful eyes shining brightly as she looked at him, and unconsciously softened even more.
"Brother won't lie to you."
He opened the door and smiled at Si Yuan.
As the light shone in from outside, Si Yuan felt as if her whole body had rusted, and finally she had the strength to move a little.
She got out of bed and staggered out.
Song Yan led her downstairs. The living room was filled with toys, and there were several maids and nannies.
Si Xingzhou sat on the sofa, looking at all the toys, but he was still bored because he couldn't see his mother.
So the moment Si Xingzhou saw Si Yuan, his eyes lit up and he jumped off the sofa: "Mom!"
"Small boat!"
Si Yuan's heart clenched instantly. She quickly walked over, hugged the child tightly, and said in a choked voice, "Mommy's here."
Si Xingzhou hugged Si Yuan's neck tightly, his voice sounding somewhat aggrieved.
Song Yan told him that his mother was sick and sleeping and should not be disturbed, so he did not notice anything amiss.
"Mom, are you feeling better now?"
Si Yuan immediately understood why Si Xingzhou had asked that question.
Her first reaction was relief.
Thankfully, he was unaware of the terrible and disgusting things that had happened. Thankfully, he was unaware of what his respected uncle, whom he had always respected, was doing at that very moment.
"Mom will be better soon, Xiaozhou, don't be sad."
Si Xingzhou nodded, released his embrace, and looked at his mother.
"Mom, I heard Uncle say yesterday that he's going to take us to a very far place, and we'll be taking a plane. Where are we going?"
Si Yuan's heart sank. She looked at Song Yan and asked, "What do you mean?"
Song Yan didn't answer, but walked over slowly, raised his hand and gently touched Si Xingzhou's head, coaxing him in a gentle tone, "Mom is still sick and needs to rest. Xiao Zhou, why don't you go play with Auntie over there? Uncle has something to say to Mom."
Although Si Xingzhou is still a bit clingy to his mother, he has always been sensible.
She glanced at Si Yuan, then at Song Yan, and finally nodded, following the nanny to the side hall.
Only after watching Si Xingzhou's figure disappear through the door did Si Yuan's taut nerves finally snap, her whole body feeling as if she had fallen into an ice cave, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably.
She abruptly stood up and looked at Song Yan, angrily demanding, "Song Yan, what exactly do you want? Where are you taking us?"
Song Yan didn't reply, but stared at the corner of her mouth for a few seconds before suddenly taking a step forward.
Before Si Yuan could react, she saw him raise his hand, his fingertips carrying a slightly cool temperature, and approach her.
"Don't touch me!"
Si Yuan was struck dumb, and took a big step back, her eyes filled with fear and disgust, as if she had been touched by something filthy.
Song Yan's hand froze in mid-air, the delicate touch of her skin still lingering on his fingertips.
He just wanted to wipe the cake off her chin.
Song Yan chuckled self-deprecatingly before slowly withdrawing his hand. The tenderness in his eyes vanished, and his voice returned to its cold and distant tone: "It's not safe in the country."
"Jiang Wang will find this place sooner or later and come to bother us."
He lowered his eyes, his tone carrying an undeniable stubbornness, "I want to take you abroad, to a place where it's just the three of us."
Si Yuan only realized what Song Yan was planning at this moment.
The thought of being taken away by Song Yan and being bound to him forever sent a chill down Si Yuan's spine.
A chill crept up her spine, making her body stiff with cold.
She shook her head and protested, "I don't want to... I don't want to go with you!"
Song Yan slowly straightened up, the gentleness on his face completely disappearing, replaced by an unyielding coldness.
"Objection overruled."
Four words, light and airy.
Si Yuan felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
The next second, a rapid cell phone ring suddenly sounded.
It was Song Yan's phone, on the table behind him.
There were no notes on it, only a string of numbers.
Si Yuan recognized it; it was Jiang Wang's phone number!
It was Jiang Wang who was looking for her.
Si Yuan almost instinctively lunged at the phone on the coffee table without thinking.
Just as he was about to touch the phone, Song Yan stepped back and picked it up instead.
