Chapter 36 He Hit Her

Chapter 36 He Hit Her

Song Yan would never have imagined this.

Such harsh words would come from Si Yuan's mouth.

She shattered the facade that had been hidden beneath the Song family's grandeur, revealing its naked truth.

In contrast, Si Yuan remained calm.

Over the years, she has heard far too many hurtful things.

For her, this was the truth.

However, the Song family has always tried to cover up the truth.

Perhaps it was to prevent the scandal from escalating.

Song Yan stood up and stared intently at her: "If you have the guts, say what you just said again."

For the first time, Si Yuan mustered her courage, with a resolute determination that disregarded everything, and repeated each word carefully: "I said, I am a stain on your reputation, aren't I? From now on, I will stay far away from you..."

Before she could finish speaking, a crisp slap landed on her face, neither too hard nor too soft.

Song Yan has never laid a hand on her.

So Song Yan was also stunned.

He looked at his hands, slightly taken aback, then looked at Si Yuan.

She turned her head slightly, froze, and her hair clung messily to her face.

In that instant, Si Yuan thought of Lin Shuangyu.

She hit herself like that, many, many times.

Si Yuan believes that, at least, Song Yan and Lin Shuangyu are not entirely the same.

But the pain of the slap on the face was exactly the same.

Song Yan felt a sudden pang of pain in his heart, but he was even angrier at what Si Yuan had just said, and his heart was filled with inexplicable anger.

Especially when she heard Si Yuan say that she should stay away from her.

She had always been honest, obedient, and compliant with him.

But now, not only is she faking illness, she's also saying she wants to break up with me.

He panicked and acted recklessly.

"The Song family raised you all these years, and you say such outrageous things? What do you mean by 'stain'? What do you mean by 'stay away from me'? Si Yuan, how did you become like this?"

Si Yuan hadn't reacted yet.

She stiffly raised her hand to support her face, as if experiencing a post-traumatic stress disorder, and dared not move.

Because in the past, when Lin Shuangyu hit her, if she moved even slightly, she would get a second slap in return.

Song Yan was unaware of all this.

Seeing that she was not speaking, Song Yan assumed that she had calmed down.

He suddenly regretted it, reached out and pulled her into his arms, patted her hair, and said, "Xiaoyuan, I'm sorry, it's you...it's you who were so disobedient. Promise me you won't say things like that again, okay?"

He really... had no other choice.

Si Yuan said she wanted to leave him.

If I leave him, who will I go to?

Have you forgotten about him, your older brother?

Si Yuan blinked numbly, as if she had locked herself in a closed and safe shell, unable to hear or say anything.

Suddenly, the door to the emergency room opened.

Song Yansong opened the door and hurriedly walked towards the entrance.

The doctor said the surgery was successful and gave instructions. Song Yan listened carefully as the group walked towards the ward.

He didn't notice at all that Si Yuan hadn't followed.

Lin Shuangyu arrived at some unknown time.

She saw everything clearly just now.

She slowly walked towards Si Yuan, lifted her hair with great interest, looked at the red marks on her face, and clicked her tongue twice.

"You must be so annoying that even Song Yan, who never says a harsh word to you, couldn't help but hit you?"

Si Yuan's blood almost froze the moment Lin Shuangyu's fingertips touched her hair.

She recoiled as if burned, but her back pressed against the cold wall, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.

Lin Shuangyu pressed closer, whispering in Si Yuan's ear, every word clear: "I told you, you're just a pushover, anyone can bully you, just like I used to."

Hearing Lin Shuangyu mention the past, Si Yuan suddenly regained some clarity of mind.

Before Lin Shuangyu could say anything, Si Yuan raised her hand and slapped her across the face.

The sharp "smack" was even louder than the slap Song Yan had just delivered to her face.

Lin Shuangyu's head was knocked to the side by the blow.

She remained frozen in that position for two seconds, then slowly turned back, the playfulness in her eyes vanishing without a trace, leaving only disbelief and astonishment.

"You dare hit me?"

Si Yuan actually dared to retaliate?

She actually dared to hit her!

Si Yuan looked at her coldly: "You, get out."

"Si Yuan!"

Just then, a figure appeared at the end of the corridor.

After settling everyone in the ward, Song Yan realized that Si Yuan hadn't followed. Panicked, he immediately turned back.

Then, we saw Si Yuan take action.

He strode forward, his voice tense with restraint: "Si Yuan, what are you doing?"

Si Yuan looked at Song Yan, following the sound.

I saw the anger in his eyes towards me.

She was clearly just retaliating, but under Song Yan's questioning gaze, she inexplicably felt a sense of panic, as if she had done something wrong.

The numbness in my fingertips crept up my arm, making it hard to breathe.

"She started it..."

Lin Shuangyu quickly realized what was happening.

She didn't immediately lash out. Instead, she covered her face and took a half step back, her eyes slightly red, her gaze towards Song Yan filled with grievance.

"Ayan, I just wanted to persuade Xiaoyuan to go to the ward with you, and then I saw the injury on her face. I just asked her a question, and she suddenly..."

Song Yan had felt guilty and uneasy about attacking Si Yuan earlier.

But seeing the injury on Lin Shuangyu's face, that unease vanished.

Recalling Si Yuan's rebellious words about leaving, the scales in her heart unconsciously tipped towards Lin Shuangyu.

"Xiao Yuan, apologize to Shuang Yu."

Upon hearing the word "apology," Si Yuan seemed frozen like a puppet, even her blinking became slow.

The light from the corridor ceiling lamp fell on Song Yan's face, making the seriousness and impatience in his eyes particularly clear.

That was a look of self-loathing she had never seen in his eyes before.

She was the one who was bullied.

Why can't she fight back?

Shouldn't despicable people be punished?

"No." Her tone was more stubborn than ever before. "She provoked me first; she deserved it..."

"Shut up!"

Song Yan interrupted her, his brows furrowing even more. His gaze swept over the lingering red mark on her face, but his tone remained unwavering. "I know Shuangyu better than you do. She has depression. Do you know what kind of psychological trauma this slap will cause her?"

Lin Shuangyu stood beside Song Yan, her eyes lowered, but a faint, smug smile appeared on her lips.

She gently tugged at Song Yan's sleeve, her voice as soft as cotton: "Yan, never mind, let's go see your aunt first? I'm very worried..."

These words, when heard by Song Yan, became further evidence that Si Yuan was "making trouble unreasonably".

He looked at Si Yuan, his tone becoming even more serious: "Xiao Yuan, don't make me say it a third time. Apologize, and then come to the ward with me."

Si Yuan looked at Song Yan, watching him confidently tell her to apologize to Lin Shuangyu.

This face is so unfamiliar.

The pain in one's heart is far more unbearable than the pain on one's face.

She forced a smile, as if she had figured something out, nodded, and then turned to look at Lin Shuangyu: "Sister-in-law, I'm sorry."

Seeing her give in, Song Yan gradually calmed down, and his heart softened little by little.

It's like seeing that well-behaved little sister from before again.

"Wouldn't it be better to just listen to me sooner? Let's go, Mom's about to wake up..."

As Song Yan spoke, he reached out to pull Si Yuan's arm.

Si Yuan suddenly took a step back, avoiding his touch.

Just like the fear of any bully in the past.
