Chapter 17 Jiang Wang, I Want to Kiss You
So, in order to avoid being abandoned by her family again.
She took a deep breath, blinked hard to wipe away the tears in her eyes, and forced a stiff smile.
"Brother, don't be angry, I was just joking with you."
The shell of rebellion that had sprouted shattered once more, and Si Yuan retreated back into that cowardly shell.
She handed the jewelry box to Lin Shuangyu, trying to make her tone sound sweeter: "Sister Shuangyu, look, this necklace suits you so well. I was just kidding with you earlier."
A hint of smugness flashed in Lin Shuangyu's eyes, but he still pretended to be flattered and took the box: "Thank you, Xiaoyuan is so thoughtful!"
She hugged Song Yan's arm again and said in a coquettish tone, "Look how scared you've made your sister. It's just a necklace."
Seeing that she had relented, Song Yan's expression softened, and he reached out and patted her shoulder: "We're family, don't be so petty."
Si Yuan smiled but didn't say anything.
A family...
A gust of wind made her eyes sting even more.
Lin Shuangyu hid behind Song Yan, winked at her friend, and waved the spoils in her hand.
Song Yan felt a bit cold, and Si Yuan was dressed a little lightly.
He reached out to help Si Yuan inside, saying, "Let's go in quickly, it's cold outside."
Si Yuan paused, took a step back, and avoided it.
"Brother, actually I'm a little tired and want to go home."
Song Yan suddenly stopped.
He turned to look at Si Yuan; the girl had her head down, and wisps of hair on her forehead covered her eyes.
Even though they were standing right in front of me, they felt farther away than before.
He belatedly realized that he had been a little too harsh on her just now.
Song Yan had prepared a gift for Si Yuan before she returned to China, but he never delivered it to her.
Now, he also took the other gifts she had received.
Just as someone beside him was about to say, "Don't spoil the fun," Song Yan glanced at them, and the person swallowed their words.
In fact, the attitude of this group of people has always depended on Song Yan's attitude.
Song Yan took half a step forward, his tone softening unconsciously, with a hint of coaxing: "Tomorrow, your brother will take you to buy a new one. We'll buy you whatever you like, okay?"
Si Yuan slowly raised her head, the redness in her eyes had long been suppressed, leaving only a calm and obedient expression.
She gently shook her head, said nothing, and raised her phone slightly.
"No need, the car I called is almost here. You and Shuangyu have fun, brother."
"Aren't we going back to the Song family together?"
Song Yan subconsciously pressed for more information, remembering that he had originally planned to take Si Yuan back to the Song family home after the event.
A family should live together.
She shook her head again, giving a nonchalant reason: "No, I have to go to work tomorrow."
Also, her medication for depression is waiting for her to come home and take it.
Before Song Yan could say anything more, Si Yuan had already taken two steps back and smiled at him.
"Brother, I'm leaving now. Have fun."
As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and walked towards the roadside.
Alone, he never looked back.
Song Yan kept watching until Si Yuan got into the car and drove away, then he looked away.
Perhaps it was because the weather in Haicheng was too humid, but Song Yan felt as if he had a wad of damp cotton stuffed inside him, making him feel suffocated.
He didn't really mean to upset Si Yuan; it was just that seeing the necklace was a gift from another man made him lose his temper and he couldn't control himself...
He regretted being so harsh with her earlier.
They even encouraged other shady characters to pressure her.
But as soon as the thought crossed his mind, Lin Shuangyu reached out and grabbed his wrist, saying in a coquettish tone, "Ayan, it's so cold outside, let's go inside quickly?"
He paused, glanced back at the empty intersection, and was ultimately dragged away by Lin Shuangyu.
Because I knew that Si Yuan would never really be angry with me.
I'll just coax her a bit tomorrow and she'll be fine.
In the black sedan across the street, Jiang Wang held a cigarette between his fingers, the smoke blurring the coldness in his eyes.
He saw clearly everything Si Yuan had just done: her despair, her sadness, and her feigned obedience.
My knuckles tightened unconsciously, and I only snapped back to reality when the cigarette butt burned my fingers.
His eyes grew cold, a chilling darkness settling in.
The deafening music in the clubhouse drowned out everything else. Lin Shuangyu, wearing the necklace, danced with abandon, the tiny diamonds around her neck dazzling with her movements.
Exhausted, she went to the restroom halfway through.
Just as I turned the corner in the corridor, a drunken man bumped into me, making me stumble and my shoulder ache.
The man strained so hard that Lin Shuangyu felt like his hand was about to dislocate.
"Are you blind?!" She was furious and pointed at the man, cursing him for a long time, but the man just lowered his head and walked away.
She stormed back, only realizing something was wrong halfway there.
I touched my neck—and there was nothing there; the necklace was gone.
She ran back to the booth, looking aggrieved, and grabbed Song Yan's arm, her eyes welling up with tears: "Yan, my necklace is gone! A drunk bumped into me and it's gone! Please send someone to help me look for it!"
Song Yan was holding a wine glass when he heard this. He merely raised his eyes and said indifferently, "If it's lost, it's lost."
Lin Shuangyu was stunned, not expecting him to react this way.
She didn't know that Song Yan had never taken the necklace seriously from the beginning. He wasn't insistent on giving it to Lin Shuangyu; he just didn't want Si Yuan to keep it.
Now that the necklace is gone, he doesn't seem to care much.
——
Si Yuan went home.
She kicked off her shoes, didn't even turn on the light, and went straight to the bathroom.
The water cascaded down, and she numbly took off her clothes and stepped into the bathtub.
As the warm water washed over his chest, Si Yuan felt like a dying fish finally returning to water, grasping at a faint sense of security.
She stared blankly at the foam floating on the water, the doctor's instructions swirling in her mind.
If you drink alcohol, you can't take those medications anymore.
But the dull pain in my chest continued to rise, and I felt weak all over.
She gripped the edge of the bathtub, her fingertips turning white, her expression dazed.
I really don't know how I'm going to get through tonight.
She was completely confused and didn't even know what she was doing.
When she regained her senses, Si Yuan noticed that her phone screen was lit up.
The words "Jiang Wang" were displayed on the call screen.
She snapped back to reality and realized that she had dialed the phone without even noticing.
Perhaps it was the alcohol that emboldened her, or perhaps it was her desperate will to survive; Si Yuan truly didn't know how to save herself.
She didn't hang up the phone, but asked, "Jiang Wang...would you be willing to be my medicine?"
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, followed by his clear voice.
"You can make me blow up the Song family's house right now, I'll do it."
He was always like this, saying some earth-shattering things with a serious expression, whether it was true or just to coax her. Si Yuan's nose still stung with tears.
She said again, almost as if possessed, "I want to kiss you."
As soon as he finished speaking, the breathing sound on the receiver seemed to pause for a moment.
For a long time, no one spoke.
Si Yuan then belatedly came to her senses.
Her cheeks flushed, and she hurriedly tried to explain, "I'm sorry, I drank too much today..."
"Open the door."
The man's voice suddenly interrupted her, deep and urgent, as if it were right next to her ear, making her heart skip a beat.
Si Yuan opened the door, and a cold wind carrying the chill from Jiang Wang rushed in.
There was a bit of night dew on his shoulder, clearly indicating that he had just gotten out of the car, still wearing that bespoke smoky gray suit.
Shouldn't he be having a gathering at the club with Song Yan and the others?
How did you get back so quickly...?
Or perhaps he had been standing guard at the door the whole time.
Si Yuan, wearing a bathrobe, her hair dripping wet, stood motionless in the entryway, her eyes still lingering in a daze.
Jiang Wang didn't speak. He walked in first, closed the door to keep out the noise and chill outside, and then turned to look at her.
His gaze was solemn and serious.
What did you just say?
The will is frozen in time.
She was just talking nonsense and wanted to vent, but she didn't expect Jiang Wang to actually show up.
Upon meeting her in person, she couldn't utter the wild and inappropriate words she had just spoken.
"I...I said I...I drank too much..."
Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Wang suddenly stepped forward, gently cupped the back of her neck with his palm, and pressed his cold lips against hers.
Si Yuan froze completely, her eyelashes trembling, and she even forgot to breathe.
Their lips met, the lingering moisture on his bathrobe mingling with the faint smell of smoke on his body, making one feel uneasy.
Si Yuan unconsciously gripped the hem of his clothes, her fingertips trembling, but she didn't push him away.
This was the second time tonight that she felt something gently filling her empty and aching heart.
Jiang Wang kissed her deeply until Si Yuan turned her head away, unable to breathe properly, before he slowly released her.
He smiled and asked, "Did you miss me?"
Si Yuan didn't speak, but just stared at the tips of his shoes. The words she had just said on the phone came flooding back, making her cheeks burn and making her feel wronged.
She opened her mouth, wanting to argue, "I didn't," but before she could speak, tears streamed down her face.
It wasn't a loud wail, but a silent, relentless thud, one after another, onto the back of Jiang Wang's hand, leaving small, damp welts.
Jiang Wang seemed to have been burned; he frowned slightly, then hugged her.
The warmth in the bathtub had long since dissipated.
But at this moment, Jiang Wang was holding her, and his aura was like a thin, warm film, enveloping her and making her heart, which had been frozen in front of Song Yan, finally show signs of warming up.
