Chapter 23: Stay Away From Song Yan

Chapter 23 Stay Away From Song Yan

Si Yuan's hand was still on his chest as she asked earnestly, "Today... you haven't kissed anyone else, have you?"

Jiang Wang paused, nearly spitting out a mouthful of blood.

What is she thinking about all day long?

Does he treat kissing like it's an everyday thing, the kind of person who would die if he didn't kiss for a day?

He squinted, and asked with displeasure, "You dislike me that much?"

"It's not that I'm disgusted." Si Yuan turned her head away, avoiding his gaze, and explained seriously, "You have so many girlfriends, it's not unreasonable for me to ask to ensure biosafety, is it?"

"Girlfriend?" Jiang Wang laughed, raised his hand, and lightly pinched her earlobe with his fingertips. His voice was low and hoarse. "No."

Before he finished speaking, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her lips.

Si Yuan didn't dodge and let him kiss her for a few seconds.

What does "nothing" mean?

No one kissed him today, or does he still not have a girlfriend?

Without looking closely, she gently pushed against his chest with her palm, trying to end the kiss.

But Jiang Wang seemed to have anticipated this. He suddenly tightened his grip on the back of her head, kissing her more deeply and fiercely, with an unyielding force that left no room for refusal.

She panicked instantly and instinctively tried to turn her head away.

Jiang Wang slowly opened his eyes, his dark gaze fixed intently on her.

His lips hadn't left his.

As he deepened the kiss, he clearly saw the panic and helplessness in her eyes.

He knew she had depression.

I know why she has those covered-up scars on her wrists.

I know why she would try to numb herself with all sorts of shady methods.

She left the country without saying a word, leaving him behind cleanly and decisively. To be honest, Jiang Wang hated her.

He even thought that if he ever saw her again, he would definitely seek revenge.

But when he learned what the medicine was for, his first reaction was simply to feel sorry for the patient.

Si Yuan, so timid, endured it all alone abroad, and eventually developed depression.

Jiang Wang even regretted not chasing her to London to find out the truth, to find her sooner, to pester her, and to pull her out of that quagmire.

He slowly released Si Yuan.

Si Yuan seized the opportunity to push him away.

She glared at him, her voice still tinged with lingering panic: "Didn't you say one kiss would be enough?"

"Interest." Jiang Wang raised an eyebrow arrogantly. "You're getting a bargain with this little bit of interest after making me wait so long."

Si Yuan was furious: "This is usury!"

"Then go and report it?"

Si Yuan felt that this person was really unreasonable, no wonder he didn't fight among himself, but only fought against others.

Before he could react, Jiang Wang suddenly raised his hand.

Si Yuan instinctively flinched.

But when his hand fell, Jiang Wang simply ruffled her hair gently.

He used very gentle force, and his voice was a little deeper: "Si Yuan, happy birthday."

Si Yuan's movements slowly came to a halt.

She looked up at Jiang Wang, her eyes filled with astonishment.

How did he know it was his birthday tomorrow?

They didn't spend much time together, and Si Yuan had never told him any of this.

It seems that it must have been his older brother who told him.

She lowered her eyes to avoid his gaze and slipped out from under his arm.

Sure enough, being so much shorter than him has its advantages.

Si Yuan tidied her hair, nodded, and said politely, "Thank you, well... I'll be going now."

They practically fled.

She understood one thing deeply: a man like Jiang Wang, who was philandering, heartless, and reckless, was absolutely not someone she should associate with when she was sober.

——

Haicheng, banquet hall, brightly lit.

The number of people far exceeded Si Yuan's expectations.

She stood on the second floor, gently holding onto the railing, looking down at the carefully arranged floral arrangements and furnishings below.

There was also a family photo displayed.

Lin Shuangyu was politely and respectfully greeting guests on the first floor.

She had only just learned that these were all Lin Shuangyu's doing.

Song Yan always trusted her, and since she was a model, her aesthetic sense was indeed quite good.

Song Yan hasn't arrived yet.

Si Yuan still couldn't face Lin Shuangyu with a clear conscience, so she went back to the private room first.

I had just sat down when the door was pushed open.

It was Song's mother.

She walked in front, with a waiter behind her carrying a champagne-colored gown.

The dress was placed on the sofa to the side, and the waiter left.

Song's mother's voice was gentle and considerate: "This was also prepared by Shuangyu, and I think it suits you very well."

Si Yuan smiled politely, picked up the skirt and pretended to like it very much: "Thank you, Mom."

Song's mother sat down opposite her, her gaze fixed on her face. After a few seconds of silence, she finally spoke: "Is your boyfriend not coming today?"

Si Yuan's hand, which was gripping the hem of her skirt, suddenly stopped, her fingertips turning white. She shook her head hesitantly, "He... is still busy."

"So busy that you can't even come to your birthday party?" Song's mother nodded, her tone softening and becoming sharper. "You're disrespectful to you, and even more disrespectful to the Song family. There's no need to continue our relationship."

She paused, glanced downstairs, and raised her voice slightly: "Several of my close friends are downstairs today, and they've all brought their sons. If you'd like, you can go down later and try getting to know each other again."

It sounded like an inquiry, but Song's mother's tone was more like a notification.

The Song family has always been in charge of everything Si Yuan does.

Major matters were handled by Song's mother, while minor matters were handled by Song Yan.

Si Yuan loved drawing when she was little, but they insisted that she learn the piano. In fact, she was not suited to playing the piano and did not like it. But the Song family did not care whether she liked it or not. Everything she had was given to her by the Song family, so there was no reason for her not to listen to the Song family.

Many more such incidents occurred later.

If Song's mother doesn't like it, and Song Yan doesn't like it, then Si Yuan absolutely cannot do it.

So when did she develop her humble, timid, and indecisive nature?

Si Yuan lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes concealing the emotions within them.

She could tell that Song's mother had begun to have doubts.

That's why they're so discreetly "on guard" now, even paving the way for her future.

Si Yuan remained silent, and Song's mother's expression changed, as if her suspicions had been confirmed.

She looked away from the champagne-colored dress and said, "Shuangyu is sensible and comes from a scholarly family. She and your brother have known each other since high school. They are a perfect match, a match made in heaven. I thought that when you see her, you would put aside your previous feelings."

Si Yuan looked up at Song's mother, her voice soft, with a hint of stubbornness in her voice as she spoke to clarify her situation: "I didn't."

"No?" Song's mother raised an eyebrow, her tone growing even colder. "No? Why don't you want to find someone decent to marry?"

Si Yuan tightened her grip on the hem of her skirt. "There's no conflict."

Upon hearing this, Song's mother slowly nodded, but there was no sign of agreement in her eyes. Instead, it was as if she had heard a joke: "In the Song family, between you and Ayan, this is the source of the conflict."

She paused, her voice as cold as ice, "It was the Song family's responsibility to take you in, raise you, provide you with a life of luxury, and marry you off to a man from a respectable family. I have done right by your deceased parents."

When her parents are mentioned, Si Yuan's stubbornness vanishes instantly.

Song's mother continued, "You still don't understand. There can't be any gossip around Ayan, especially between him and you."

Si Yuan had heard this phrase before she was sent abroad.

Song's mother also said at the time.

The Song family raised you; you can't repay kindness with enmity. Stay away from Ayan.
