Aragon was right.
The librarian was a very fast creature. Incredibly fast. Raziah’s eyes couldn’t keep up with the Vampire. She had already taken care of the first two that attacked the forest, but William now had her in the palm of his hand.
From a small distance, anyone could see so much dust coming from the surrounding cliff of the witch town. It was building up, getting thicker and more intense till one could get lost in it. Inside the storm was the crazy man with one hand clamped down on Raziah’s face, dragging her head and body on the ground while running around the cliff.
His strength wasn’t a joke. He was the most powerful foe she had faced so far, and there was hardly any strength left in her body. The awakening that happened before had lessened again, and now she was in a pinch. Raziah had to focus all her strength on her head, or William would have crushed her skull by now.
She couldn’t even feel the pain anymore.
When William felt her trying to power him away, he said to her, "I’m the Vampire’s King’s first son. What makes you think you’re stronger than I am?" He boasted, crushing her head against the ground even more.
Her eyes, nose, and lips had been covered by his large hand, and his strength was out of this world. Her strength wasn’t enough. What bothered her more was why he hadn’t killed her yet. He’s had so many chances to do that. It felt like he was playing around with her body.
And then, Raziah recalled what Aragon had told her about William. How he never left his library and how he kidnapped Vampires and witches, performing experiments on them. Could that be the reason why he hasn’t turned off her lights for good? Is he planning to make her one of his...guinea pigs?
The thought had her recoiling, as memories of Young Aragon tied up and being manhandled and terrorized in several ways flashed through her body. Just before she could make another move, something bright and powerful resounded in her ears, and William was blasted away from her.
The man was thrown several feet across, but quickly got back on his feet. Raziah could feel something like a magical spell lifting her into the air, and her body was carried into safety landing softly on a man’s arms.
Bell waved his hand over her face, and all her injuries healed up immediately. Opening her eyes, Raziah found herself lying on the bare floor. It looked like Bell was fighting William at the moment, and there were several other witches standing across watching with alarm, waiting for the right time to jump in.
A few of them stood in front of her, guarding her with long spears in their hand.
Thinking about how the witches were now alright, Raziah came to the conclusion that Drack, the male witch she had defeated earlier must have been the one who did something that made all the witches weak like Acacia, but now that she had gotten rid of him, his spell had also disappeared.
And If Acacia was alright, there’s no doubt that she’s already gone after Fabia and the children to make sure they’re alright.
That was a relief. She felt like falling asleep. Luckily when she wakes up, it will be over.
Someone was saying something. There was a noise close to her ears, or was it far? She didn’t know. But it was getting louder by the moment. The voice was familiar, someone was...
"Raziah, Move!!!"
Her eyes flew open, and something sharp shimmered in the night. Raziah rolled out of the way as fast as she could just as the witch’s spear knocked into the ground she was lying on a second ago.
More spears appeared in the night, and she continued to roll out of the way as they came forward toward her till there was no more. Throwing herself to her feet, she saw that the witches truly were responsible for the sudden attack.
Wait, no. Something was wrong. They didn’t seem like themselves. First was because none of them were blinking, and they weren’t speaking to each other. Their movements... looked as if they were being... controlled.
But Bell was alright. He was still battling against William and seemed to be having a hard time like there was something wrong with his movements. If the others had been taken control of, it could also mean the person responsible was now trying to get into Bell’s head, hence the difficulty he seemed to be having right now.
Spontaneously, a blow slammed into her and she was flung across the cliff to the other side of the forest. The landing was harsh as she had to force her body to stop rolling, ignoring the cuts and bruises she had sustained from it.
Her hands were bleeding, and her small gown was torn at different angles.
Raziah forced her nails into the sandy floor and gripped whatever she could find to come to a halt. She snapped her gaze up to see who had done that to her, eyes relentless with fury and anguish through the darkness of the night.
And standing in the middle of it, was a woman with light brown hair dancing in the wind.
She was extremely beautiful, possessing hazel eyes that glowed fiercely. Her lips were dry, and those same eyes still had that dead look in them. The woman stood at the other end of the cliff, staring right into Raziah’s soul.
Raziah could hear her loud breath. It was so loud against her ear. The wind had picked up its pace, and there was a feeling right there she never thought would come back to her. Once she was sure her eyes weren’t deceiving her, she didn’t know when she held her breath and her existence trembled on the spot.
Raziah was dumbfounded. She was stricken. No words could possibly describe the emotions spiking through her, threatening to burst out. The only thing keeping her from running toward the woman...was her eyes.
Her dead eyes.
The constant reminder...that the woman across her wasn’t herself.
That stopped her from moving. But not for long.
Raziah took off running toward the woman, unable to hold back. Each step took her closer to the only source of light and strength in front of her, and each breath filled her with yearning for a new day and new memories.
She couldn’t feel any pain, just the longing to hold the woman across her. Everything disappeared around her. It was just Raziah running on a cloud toward the sun. She would reach it and feel its warmth after so much rain had struck down on her skin.
She needed to feel it. She had missed this sun. She had missed this adorning inspiration of hers.
Because of how wide the cliff was, it took her a while to reach the other side where the woman stood. Nothing else mattered to her right now.
All that did was Raziah...and her mother. A daughter running toward her mother, with her arms wide open ready to be welcomed.
"Stop!" Mirabai yelled just before Raziah could reach her, "And take a good look around you," The woman added, and Raziah blinked in confusion as to why she had to do that when her target was right there.
Being her mother’s words, she glanced around her environment and let reality sink in. Raziah paused, streams and waves of pain piercing into her heart as it dawned on her once again the situation at hand.
"Whether you come close or not, my mission is to kill you. I have no control over it. The only way to stop me is to fully awaken. Your weak body won’t last a minute against what I can do," Mirabai’s voice was loud and strong, emotionless.
It sounded like a talking empty can.
Raziah swallowed, eyes constricted with pain as her knees threatened to give up on her.
"I am the first Healer to ever exist in this world filled with the known and unknown. I watched you while you fought the Vampiress a while ago. I’m afraid you inherited my powers. How long has this been going on? No, I’m just glad you got away that night. You should know this isn’t the time to be weak... Know that I’m about to come at you, and when I do, defend and strike me back with everything you’ve got. I am not your mother right now, I am your enemy,"
