It was a workshop house. Just, it was a lot different than the regular workshop houses. There was something so serene and peaceful about the place, giving out a calm and soothing energy. Also, workshops she’s been to before do not have torches hanging from every side of the wall.
"What do you think? I make a lot of things here together with my friend," Mirabai said, watching Raziah’s excitement grow.
Raziah’s hold tightened over her mother’s grip, and she grinned up at her mother, "Who? Lady Jennet?"
"Not quite...," Mirabai replied and pointed at a corner, a part of the room where Raziah hadn’t noticed yet. Raziah narrowed her gaze slightly to see that there was actually a figure sitting there, the person’s attention solemnly on the book she was going through.
"Who’s that?" Raziah whispered this time.
"My Friend. I want you to meet her,"
With Mirabai leading, they both walked to the woman whom was so engrossed in what she was reading, "Harlow, we are here," Mirabai stated.
The woman’s eyes which were rummaging all over the book, and her feet fervently tapping away on the soft floor, all came to a pause. From the very second Raziah had sighted the woman across the room, she had thought there was something strange about the woman...a feeling somewhat familiar to the kind Elliott usually has off... only stronger.
And then, the woman looked into Raziah’s eyes...and the Princess took a step back and gasped. She had never seen such beautiful and colorful eyes before. The woman had so many colors in her eyes, all mixed up together and she was incredibly beautiful and breathtaking.
"Raziah, Meet Harlow...my friend. Harlow, this is my daughter, "Mirabai introduced them.
Harlow’s keen eyes remained on Raziah’s, and then she suddenly went on one knee and caught Raziah’s chin, tilting it upward as if she was trying to make out something on Raziah’s face that no one else could see, "Hello, Child," Harlow whispered, a wondrous smile touching her face.
"Hello...," Raziah whispered. The witch’s finger under her chin was so cold.
"How are you doing today?"
Raziah had to take a breather for a short while because the woman’s eyes were something out of this world and staring directly into hers was a little too much to take.
"Were you born with those eyes?"
Mirabai had already seen the question coming, while Harlow laughed softly, "Once you’re chosen, your body undergoes a lot of changes. Especially your eyes. One of the most powerful, you know. It can see deeper than what is known to be normal to us,"
Now, Raziah was getting curious, "Who is us?"
"My Kind, of course. In fact, every kind," As Harlow said so, she glanced up at Mirabai who also had the same idea in mind.
"Tell me about every kind. What are they?" Raziah inquired, leaning closer to Harlow.
"Before that, how about I show you a few things around here?" Mirabai interrupted with a stiff smile she threw at the both of them, and before Raziah could argue, Mirabai had already pulled her daughter and began showing her all the pieces of equipment that were being made...or in the process of being made.
Soon enough, Raziah’s attention was also stolen away by how cool, strange, and amazing the pieces of equipment were. Mirabai couldn’t see the new light shimmering in her daughter’s curious and blown away mind, and every now and then Raziah would look up at her mother and both of them would grin at each other.
It was a whole moment. Beautiful and Magical. That was what Raziah thought. Maybe...her mother wasn’t so bad. Or, she was just beginning to see whom her mother truly was. The person her father, the King, had fallen for.
"What’s that?" Raziah asked for the umpteenth time, pointing at a box hung on the wall. It was very small, but the way it had been hung to the wall and placed aside from others gave Raziah the impression that it was of more importance.
"It’s an illusion box," Mirabai said to her daughter as they walked toward it. It was brown in color and was small enough to be held in one hand.
"What sort of illusion does it create?" Raziah stared at it intensely.
"From the outside, it creates a small illusion, but it’s actually quite big and spacious on the inside. Big enough to fit humans!"
Raziah shook her head in disbelief, "That’s hard to believe. From the looks of it, I would only be able to have a foot inside. Not a whole body!"
"That’s why it’s called the illusion box, dear. It’s supposed to deceive you, at first." Mirabai grinned at her daughter, and Raziah, whom was still not convinced giggled back at her mother this time.
"I’m twelve, mother. Not stupid,"
While Raziah was staring around with her lower lip hanging, Mirabai took that opportunity to talk to Harlow. Harlow hadn’t moved from her seat, but now she had her legs crossed with her eyes focused on the Princess jumping around the place and touching everything she came across.
"Do you see anything?" Mirabai asked.
"She is your daughter, and she inherited a bit of your spiritual energy... but, she’s not a healer like you. I feel nothing coming from her. She’s probably gonna grow up and be a normal human," Harlow explained, "So you don’t have to worry about her,"
Mirabai let out a relieved breath, happy to know her daughter wouldn’t have go to through the same path she had to walk through. Being a healer was too much. And the first of her kind, probably the last too. Being alone with no one to tell her what was going on was tough, but then she had met Crown Witch Harlow.
And William. And Jennet.
Galland has always been with her. He was her cousin from birth.
Last, but definitely not the least...there was Hera. Hera had powers, but she was the strangest among all of them. In the short moments Mirabai had seen Hera, the woman was always... painting.
Together with Harlow and the Vast knowledge of the Silver book at the silver cave located in the Witch’s forest, and after so many tries, they had figured out that these four people around her were key functions in her life and Journey as a healer.
William, being her lover and husband. A strong emotional support.
Jennet, being her friend and doctor, a powerful mental support.
Galland, being her guard, friend, and warrior blessed with more strength than an average human, a Strong physical support.
And then...there was Hera. Her presence would be a huge part of the journey, but the benefit was yet to be figured out.
"Mirabai!!" Harlow called out with urgency after staring at Raziah again. This time, Harlow seemed a little horrified at what she’d seen, "It seems your daughter...has been running her mouth. And her words have reached a certain ear."
Mirabai’s brow creased, "What?"
"Take your daughter and get out of here. The Other half of the treaty is in your room, right? I’ll merge them together and make the offer,"
Harlow sounded so in alert and shook that it scared Mirabai to see her like this, "What’s going on? What are you talking about?!"
And then, Mirabai’s ears caught the noise coming from a distance and her eyes widened in shock. Oh, no...
"Take her, now!" Harlow yelled this time, making Raziah whip her head to look at both women only to see her mother stalking toward her with so much concern and fear swirling in those eyes.
Grabbing her daughter’s hand, Mirabai also shook out the Box from where it was hung and began dragging Raziah out of the place, "Mother, what is going on?!" Raziah trembled with her heart in her throat.
"Stay Quiet, Raziah!" Mirabai warned, "The Kingdom is under attack,"
