Chapter 195: Gateway to Hell

It’s been raining heavily since morning. The heavy downpour didn’t look like it was gonna be ending soon with more dark clouds that kept on gathering and letting down their rage. Thunder and lightning were taking turns to make the sky growl, and the night was pitch black in the witch’s Forest.

Bellerus had confirmed that this kind of rain was very unusual, and what was even more rattling about it was that it wasn’t just raining like this inside the Amethyst Forest, the whole world was being drowned in rain.

The Crown witch appeared inside Fabia’s room, with Acacia seated in a corner, her legs crossed. Everyone in the room was confused, unable to comprehend what was going on with the little bundle of joy, Cleandro.

Cleo has been crying out his lungs since morning. He doesn’t usually cry this much, and it was already too much. The baby had been crying his eyes out, and everyone in the room had tried their best to calm him down but to no avail.

Fabia thought he might have gotten sick or something, but she had checked and he was perfectly fine. He had been playing and laughing so cutely right before he suddenly opened his mouth and started pouring everything out.

Strangely, he had started to cry just as it had begun to rain.

"Where’s your King?" Bellerus asked Acacia.

"He should be in the palace, why?"

"No news on Raziah yet?"

"I don’t think so,"

"Go and check just to confirm. It might have something to do with why he’s crying this much,"

Acacia nodded in understanding and disappeared. After a few minutes, she appeared again. She had inquired from Tatiana about Raziah and Aragon and had gotten some information.

"I was told Aragon left in a hurry last night. No one knows why, but he’s not returned," She reported, then gasped, "Maybe he’s in danger. Maybe that’s why Cleo has been crying!"

"That’s a valid point. But we don’t know for sure. But in any case, whatever’s happening to him...or Raziah, must not be a good thing. Cleo is connected to the both of them, so he must be feeling it since something is wrong."

"I think we should find them," Fabia said, very worried.

She picked up Cleo and placed his head against her shoulders, patting his back soothingly with a gentle rock. Someone was knocking on her door and she knew it was a witch that had come again to ask what was wrong with Cleo.

Suddenly, the whole forest shook from its foundations, and everyone in the room had to quickly grab onto something and hold on tightly. Fabia had pressed herself against a solid wall, grabbing the bedside cupboard.

"What’s happening?" Acacia quickly cast a spell over Fabia and the child to keep them from getting hurt, while Bellerus didn’t have to do anything as the protective spells he had already put in place would take action if the quake became too much to bear.

After the devastating attack on the Amethyst Forest the last time, he wasn’t taking any more chances. The barrier hiding and separating the outside world from the forest had been reinforced using the silver book, and it was now thrice as strong as before.

From his cerulean eyes, he could see that that earthquake had hit everywhere, and not just the forest. But when he accessed to see what had brought about the cause of the mini quake, his heart jumped out of his chest.

Cold sweat ran down his back, and his keen vision was seeing a large and deep hole that had been formed in the ground. The location of this hole was somewhere close to a pile of debris filling the area, which happened to be where the Fallen kingdom of Kaneria once stood proudly.

Bellerus could not even bring himself to see what was down that hole. He already knew his answer, and it was horrifying so much that he swallowed.

A gateway...to Hell?! 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"Bell, what happened? What are you seeing?" Acacia walked up to her brother once the quake had come to a stop. She could see the dire alarm on her brother’s face, and that made her scared too, "Talk to me Bell. What is it that you see?" She touched his brother, and he suddenly flinched back.

Bell had been so stunned by the sight, and Acacia had pulled him back to them again.

"Is everything ok?" Fabia inquired.

"Something really terrible is happening," Bell said softly, breathing hard, "Acacia, you’re coming with me. I don’t think Aragon and Raziah are alright,"

Acacia nodded enthusiastically

"Both of you can’t just leave me like this. Bellerus, what is going on?" Fabia demanded, still rocking and patting the child whom was now crying even harder. He was getting louder and louder.

"I think... Raziah and Aragon...are at war with each other,"

Everyone paused.

"What?!" Fabia and Acacia exclaimed, "Why?" They added again in unison.

"Because Aragon killed Raziah’s mother. Queen Mirabai of Kaneria. I’m sure you all must have heard the news many years ago about the tragic incident that left Kaneria with no survivors,"

Caius was the one speaking. He had gone out to play with children this morning, and none of them had heard him walk in. Also, his aura was as heavy as a rock and all signs of childishness in his face were gone, replaced with brown eyes that looked like they’d seen everything in this world.

"I wouldn’t go if I were you," Caius continued, and walked up to the bed with a relaxed expression on his face, "Or Raziah would kill you both. And she would do it without a doubt. Aragon is trying to stop her,"

Bellerus had seen this side of Caius before. The night Caius had spoken to Aragon after the bloody war when Raziah had been divorced. He knew the boy was hosting a deity inside of him.

"What do you mean Aragon killed Raziah’s mother?!" Fabia asked, lips trembling. She hoped it wasn’t what she was thinking.

"I’m sure you must have met her while you were still young," Caius turned to the doctor, who stared at him with disbelief, "Queen Mirabai. Jennet was by her side, your mother. You and your father left the kingdom while you were still young,"

Fabia was ten years old when she and her father moved far away, and she never saw her mother again. However, she does have vague memories of meeting the Queen of Kaneria, and her father had told her stories about the woman while growing up.

"Aragon brought down the kingdom years ago. He slaughtered everyone. Raziah will not stop until she does the same to him. He believes the only way to stop her is to lock her up in the dungeons of hell,"

"But...," Bellerus tried.

"No buts!" Caius fired back and laid down, "Let them settle this on their own. Raziah has made her decision and so has Aragon. No one should interfere with their fight. But be ready, if Raziah defeats Aragon...you all won’t be alive to see another sunrise,"

Acacia did not know about Aragon having such power. It was incredible thinking about it. But most importantly, how strong could Raziah be for him to even imagine locking her up in hell was the best way to stop her from her plot?
