Chapter 55: The Surprise.

Raziah wasn’t just doing this because she desired to put everyone in an uneasy state of mind. Malcolm was right there staring at her, and she was sure the others were just as disappointed as he was for stepping up and speaking to her husband like that. But she couldn’t back down from a fight, especially when it has to do with him.

Their foreheads were still pressed together, and his hand around her neck only got firmer with time. There was now a swirl coming up in those voids he called eyes, a certain gleam that kept growing bigger with every ticking second. And for the first time since he turned into another person, he finally let out that wicked and dubious smirk of his by tipping his lips ever so lightly.

"Yes, hazel." He peppered his hot breath against her face with that deep whisper, "Tip...of the iceberg, huh?"

And suddenly, she was out of words to say to him. There was something going on in his mind that came with that smirk. Something that was big enough to make his unfathomable look stray into a smile, and she couldn’t reply because she didn’t know what that was. And it scared her.

"When you do not know the intensity of my fire..." He added, his thumb now caressing every part of her face that he could touch. It was really getting on her nerves how her stupid body had almost shivered with that touch, "I can’t wait, Hazel." He drawled out, and the smile got even wider.

Abruptly, he pulled away from her and took his seat again. His face had changed back into the stoic one again, and he had let go of Gwenore’s hand without even addressing her. Raziah didn’t want her to just stand there looking like an idiot on her First day as the king’s wife so instead, she reached out and grabbed Gwen’s arm with her good hand that wasn’t bloody with glass pieces.

"There you go." She uttered softly as she helped Gwen sit on the throne she had been on before. She knew the relief she had felt when she had stood up from it a few minutes ago, and judging from Gwen’s expression right now, it must be dawning on her the weight that throne came with even though it might just be something she was only to use for occasions like this. If there is a throne for the queen, it would be in the throne room itself.

"That went well," Raziah muttered to herself before staring at her bloody palm that was almost dripping to the floor. She could feel the prickles on her back, and that nerve-racking feeling that she might just turn to prey if she doesn’t help herself out of the room right now.

Raziah quickly supported her palm with the other and excused herself. As soon as she was out of the hall, she increased her pace and quickly got back to her room. A certain group wasn’t too far behind her, and the two women walked into the room while Malcolm waited outside for them.

"Do you always have to come back bleeding whenever you go somewhere?!" Fabia grumpily rolled her eyes as she walked over to the particular drawer she kept some reserve of medical tools for taking care of the Princess since she was so prone to injury these days. The blood was wiped off, and the pieces of glass were carefully pulled out of the already broken fingers, "Can’t you see that I already applied bandages here?! Your fingers were broken when you returned from war! Don’t you feel pain? What are you made of?!"

"I didn’t notice," Raziah responded a bit icily, before turning her attention to Maria who still hadn’t said a word. They looked at each other for about a minute or so as Fabia took care of the arm completely.

"Make sure you don’t stress it too much. It’s gonna take about a month for you to be healed completely. If you feel any unusual pain..." Fabia narrowed her eyes at the princess, wondering if she actually feels pain at all, "You know where to find me."

"I heard about everything." Maria looked a little off today. She had been looking a little guilty about something, "My Princess, I know he’s your husband but I don’t think you should have taken that risk. What if... Something bad happened to you? Then what am I supposed to do?!" Tears were already pooling in her eyes, "Why did you all leave without me!" And now she was crying.

"God, I’ve been apologizing for hours now. I told you it was urgent, and we just had to go. We are so sorry!" Fabia didn’t sound sorry at all. She was just angry that Maria had brought her cries all the way to Erandell, and now they would have to be consoling her every day because she cries about one or two things every day!

"Why are you so mad at me?!" She bawled even harder, and walked over to the Princess, "Is there a law here that says I’m not allowed to cry?!"

Raziah shook her head, "I don’t think there is," She replied as Maria crouched down and placed her head on the princess’s legs, "When did you guys arrive?"

"This morning." Maria jumped to her feet again, and whispered with serious eyes, "You won’t believe it. Malcolm is here too!!" Now she was grinning again.

Raziah almost rolled her eyes. Of course, she knew that. Wiping off Maria’s tears with her good arm, she replied "Well I’m glad you both finally met again,"

As she did, Maria took her arm and immediately fixed a small bracelet around the princess’s arm, "I bought you this on my way here. I’m sorry I couldn’t get you more," Maria’s down look vanished when she saw the appreciative eyes of the princess as she stared at the bracelet in her hands. It looked very similar to something she owned before, and if she was correct about her suspicions...

Maria also had the same design on her earrings. Little heart shapes, and it had to be one of the best things anyone had gotten for her in the past ten years.

"Thank you." Raziah patted her friend’s back a little and stared back at the bracelet again. Its color was different this time, turquoise, but it dearly reminded her of savannah a lot. After about a minute or so, she stood up and walked up to the door where Malcolm was waiting for her. He was gonna give her a good scowl about what she had done earlier, but at least she got to see him again.

Even before he could close the door behind her and properly face him, he had already spoken. And what he said... isn’t what she had expected at all.

"Happy birthday, Your highness."
