"Hey girl, is your baby hungry? How old is your child? Why are you carrying her out by yourself? Where's her mother?"
Another older woman sitting next to the older woman asked with concern.
"Maybe the woman who just got on the bus was frightened. I'll comfort her and she'll be fine." The woman patted the child, a hint of impatience on her face.
Jiang Ning had closed her eyes to rest after getting on the bus, but she was displeased to hear that people were using her as a pretext.
"Auntie, how can you talk like that? The child is so small, his eyes can't even open yet, how could I scare him?"
Jiang Ning's tone was unfriendly.
The woman's eyes darted around, and she quickly put on a smile: "I'm sorry, comrade, I was just comforting the child, please don't take it to heart."
Jiang Ning's lips twitched; her expression changed quite quickly.
Thinking of her two babies at home, she was overcome with maternal love, and her expression softened considerably.
“Auntie, I have twins. Why don’t I try to soothe him? It’s not good for him to keep crying like this.”
An older woman nearby chimed in, "That's right, just let this young man help soothe the car. It'll be another hour or so before the car stops, so as not to disturb everyone."
Seeing the displeased expressions on the faces of the other passengers, and noticing Jiang Ning's innocent-looking face, the woman handed the child over to Jiang Ning.
Jiang Ning held the child and began to gently sing a nursery rhyme, and surprisingly, it actually soothed the child.
However, she noticed that her child seemed to have needle marks on his arm and his face was unnaturally flushed, and she felt that something was wrong.
"Auntie, where are you going? Visiting relatives or going home?"
At this moment, the older woman started chatting with the younger woman again.
After hesitating for a while, the auntie said haltingly, "I'm going to visit relatives in Yangshu Village."
The woman nodded: "Yes, I know someone in Yangshu Village. What's your relative's surname?"
The woman wasn't from Yangshu Village at all and wasn't familiar with the area, so she could only give a perfunctory answer:
"My relative's surname is Yang."
There should be people with the surname Yang in Yangshu Village, right?
The woman nodded with a smile: "Yang is a common surname there. Will anyone come to pick you up at the station? It'll be inconvenient for you to be carrying a child all by yourself."
The woman breathed a sigh of relief; she had guessed correctly.
Without any warning, he said, "Someone will answer."
Jiang Ning gradually realized the deeper meaning in the conversation. This woman was not like an ordinary woman who just chatted to pass the time; she seemed to be trying to extract information from her.
At this moment, seeing that the child was quiet and not making a fuss, the older woman reached over to take the child away.
The older woman gave Jiang Ning a wink and quickly smiled:
"Let's chat a little longer, the little guy can hold the baby!"
Jiang Ning's heart skipped a beat. What had she just seen?
The older woman seemed to be giving her a meaningful look.
That's really interesting.
She immediately realized that one of the older women must be a kidnapper.
Based on her behavior just now, there's a higher chance that the woman is a kidnapper.
So, is the older woman asking her to cooperate in rescuing the child?
Jiang Ning's heart jumped into her throat, and she glanced at the other people in the carriage out of the corner of her eye.
Most people were sleeping, some were looking out the window, and one person kept glancing at the older woman, as if they were exchanging words.
Could he be an accomplice of the old lady?
Just then, the car came to a shaky stop. There was a small village nearby, and some people wanted to get off.
Unexpectedly, the man who had just glanced at the woman said "Excuse me" and was about to get off the bus.
Seeing the man get out of the car, the woman quickly got up, snatched the child from Jiang Ning's arms, and tried to get out of the car as well.
The older woman reacted quickly, restraining the younger woman from holding the child, and said to Jiang Ning:
"Young man, she's a human trafficker. You can't give her the child. Hold the child and go to the police station later."
To everyone's surprise, the woman struggled desperately and shouted:
"My darling, they want to take you away! Everyone, don't believe them, they're all in cahoots to steal my darling."
For a moment, the people in the carriage were all a bit confused, not knowing who to believe.
Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the driver came over and asked Jiang Ning:
Do you know the child?
Jiang Ning shook her head.
"I was just helping to soothe the child."
"Do you know this older woman?"
"I don't know her either; this is the first time I've seen her."
The driver frowned.
"Then why did you listen to her and take the child to comfort him?"
His tone suddenly became sharp.
Jiang Ning was also confused. Whose child was this?
If the woman was truly a good person, how would she have known that the child had been abducted?
Could it be that she's quite old and works in the public security system?
"Then let's drive to the police station. The police will naturally investigate and find out the truth," she suggested.
The driver thought she made sense, so he walked forward and prepared to start the vehicle.
Just then, the man who had gotten off the bus earlier jumped back on and, with lightning speed, snatched the child from Jiang Ning's hands, running frantically towards the village.
Upon seeing this, the older woman quickly got out of the car and chased after them.
It took Jiang Ning a few seconds to react. She was torn between continuing on to the next part of the trip to find the people who had accused Lin Chen, or going to save the child.
Soon, out of maternal instinct, she also chased after them.
No matter what, the child was only a few months old when he was taken away by someone else. How heartbroken the parents must be.
If Tongtong or Jiaojiao were taken away by someone, she would definitely be heartbroken.
The woman tried to get off the bus, but the driver grabbed her. Now he still couldn't tell that this woman was a human trafficker, which was a waste of all the years he had been a driver and seen so many people.
