Chapter 178 The First Order

After learning about the job of a merchandiser, Jiang Ning gladly accepted this special order.

It's just a hundred cheongsams; given enough time, Wang Xiufen can make them all by herself.

However, not wanting her mother-in-law to work too hard, she went to find a tailor shop herself.

The streets were bustling, with all sorts of shops springing up like mushrooms after rain.

Restaurants and convenience stores are the most numerous, and hair salons, cake shops, shoe and hat shops, billiard halls, and other similar establishments are also readily available.

But tailor shops are becoming increasingly rare.

She approached several people, but when they heard she wanted a cheongsam, they quickly waved their hands. Some didn't know how to make them, while others simply only took repair work and didn't make garments.

I finally found a place that makes them, but they charge eighty yuan per piece.

"Everything is more expensive now. Silk fabric alone costs more than ten yuan per foot, and the cost of making one piece is several tens of yuan."

The tailor shop's reasons were also quite valid.

The order price she received was 120 yuan per piece. If she was given 80 yuan, she would only have 40 yuan left.

This includes taxes and customs fees, so there's not much left in the end.

One hundred pieces isn't a large quantity, so it's definitely not appropriate.

After a long day of running around, she returned home feeling a bit dejected, but her mood gradually improved when she saw the children happily rushing towards her.

"Mom, look at my drawing!" Jiaojiao is a show-off; no matter how ugly her drawing is, she likes to show it off.

Moreover, she looks at you with sparkling eyes, hoping for a compliment.

"It's very well drawn."

Jiang Ning gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

She then happily took the painting to find Wang Xiufen again.

Tongtong, however, was much calmer. After returning home, he began to play with his little toys, sometimes Luban locks, sometimes models.

He has quite a lot of toys; Lin Chen would buy him anything interesting he saw.

What was given to Jiaojiao was always a rag doll.

After kissing Tongtong, Jiang Ning sat down at the dressing table and began to write and draw.

Although we haven't found a tailor shop yet, we can start designing the clothes first.

For one hundred cheongsams, at least ten styles need to be designed.

When Lin Chen came home from get off work, he saw her focused expression.

"Why did you suddenly draw this?" He put his hand on her shoulder and hugged her.

Jiang Ning did not look up:

"I've got a job; I'll be a merchandiser. This is my first order."

Lin Chen didn't understand the foreign trade process, which was laughable.

"You're a merchandiser who has to design your own clothes? I think you're not a merchandiser, you're a designer."

Jiang Ning also laughed, "The person who placed this order is an actor's agent. He wants a hundred cheongsams as costumes, but the local designers don't know how to design them, so he had to ask my boss, Jack, for help."

I've been running around all day, but tailors rarely make clothes anymore, and if they do, it's expensive. I'm really worried about finding a place to get them made!

After hearing what she said, Lin Chen seemed to understand what was going on and suggested that she talk to her mother about it.

She's a professional tailor; instead of finding someone else to do it, she'd rather do it herself.

During dinner, Jiang Ning shared her thoughts.

Seeing that Wang Xiufen did not speak, she quickly said:

"Mom, if you find it difficult, then I will continue to look for a tailor shop."

Wang Xiufen quickly spoke up:

“This child, I didn’t say I wouldn’t do it, I was just wondering if it was possible to make so many cheongsams in a month.”

Jiang Ning grinned when he saw that she didn't refuse.

"Mom, if we make ten of the same style of cheongsam, it should be faster. I can also request a five-day extension. How much do you think is a suitable price per piece?"

Wang Xiufen thought for a moment, "Fifty. I heard that the price of fabric is much higher than before. I'm not counting on this to make money. Let's do our best for your first order."

Jiang Ning didn't know what to say; at this crucial moment, her mother-in-law had been a great help.

The first order is indeed very important, but it won't be so bad that we won't make any money.

If she doesn't use the abundance of silk fabrics in her space now, when will she?

The next day, she reported the progress of her work to Jack and asked him to make a decision.

The cost is fifty yuan, can we extend the delivery period by five days?

Soon after, Jack communicated with his friend and replied that there was no problem.

She was extremely excited and said she wanted to go out and do business, so she left the company early.

Lucy felt resentful seeing her leave early every day. Why could she leave work so early?

Jiang Ning took out a sewing machine and some silk fabric from her spatial storage and had someone transport them back home by tricycle.

When Wang Xiufen saw the sewing machine, she smiled so broadly her eyes disappeared.

She finally has something to do.

After her two children go to school every day, she doesn't know what to do.

She also doesn't like chatting with the old ladies at the street corner.

They always like to inquire about family matters, just like checking household registration.

If I reveal everything about my family, it will easily arouse jealousy.

She decided to avoid contact with gossipy people to prevent unnecessary trouble.

When she saw the fabric, she was speechless. She picked it up and gently stroked it, unable to put it down.

Jiang Ning took out the finest silk fabrics from her spatial storage. They were soft and delicate to the touch, and shimmered in the sunlight. When she picked them up, the fabrics draped down and rippled in the wind, giving them an air of luxury.

After Lin Chen returned, he opened the sewing machine packaging and assembled the various parts together.

That evening, Wang Xiufen started pounding the sewing machine.

The sewing machine was placed in her room, and the two children, who had never seen it before, curiously gathered around it.

"Grandma, what are you doing?"

Jiaojiao asked questions when she didn't understand.

Wang Xiufen stopped what she was doing and explained to her with a smile:

"This is called a sewing machine. It can be used to make clothes. You guys go play over there for a while, and I'll make clothes for you."

Tongtong, however, was more interested in how the sewing machine worked. She sat next to her and wouldn't leave, watching her hands and feet intently.

Wang Xiufen knew he was researching machines, so she ignored him and began making clothes.

In less than an hour, she made Tongtong take off her clothes and put on her newly made pajamas.

The beige silk pajamas were soft and smooth, and fit him perfectly.

"Thank you, Grandma," Tongtong said happily.

Jiaojiao came over and saw that Tongtong had new pajamas, so she made a fuss and wanted them too.

"How about Grandma makes you a nightgown?"

Wang Xiufen tapped her nose.

Sigh, ever since the twins could remember, they've been competing and fighting. If one has something, the other must have it too, or they'll definitely snatch it away.

Once, I bought Tongtong a slingshot that he really liked, but I figured Jiaojiao wouldn't like playing with it, so I didn't buy it for her.

This is serious! I'll search ten streets to buy the slingshot.

Whether she plays or not depends on her mood.

So when Wang Xiufen suggested making her a nightgown, Tongtong spoke up.

"Grandma, why don't you make a set exactly like mine? I'm afraid the clothes won't survive."

Upon hearing this, Wang Xiufen burst into laughter, thinking, "That little rascal is quite vengeful."
