Chapter 396 Suspect

Lin Chen quickly relayed Kun Kun's explanation to Jiang Ning. After a moment of silence, she said:

“Ah Chen, do you believe it? He gave the soda to Jiao Jiao and Tong Tong, and then went to class as if nothing had happened. They're not three-year-olds, they're ten-year-olds, they're old enough to lie.”

She didn't trust Kunkun's explanation at all.

"What did Teacher Wang from the equipment room say?"

Jiang Ning asked again.

Lin Chen: "Teacher Wang said that Kun Kun gave him a pack of cigarettes and then took the key. He knew nothing about what happened after that."

Jiang Ning laughed, "Their explanation really does absolve them of all responsibility."

To rule out the possibility that the person Kun Kun had met was Lin Tao, she had Lin Chen show Kun Kun the newspaper with Lin Tao's photo on it.

Kun Kun shook his head. "It's not that person. That uncle is rather delicate-looking, not very tall, and has a thin build."

Upon hearing this description, Jiang Ning immediately thought of Xu Jie.

At the last bidding meeting, Xu Jie threw water on Gao Baoliang to sabotage the bid. The person he was helping was clearly Lin Tao.

When the factory was being demolished, he was the one who led the trouble. If Xue Mei hadn't been brought back to restrain him, things might have gone terribly wrong.

What good would it do him to do that? Wasn't he just being instructed by someone?

"Ah Chen, why don't you send the police to find Xu Jie and see what Kun Kun has to say?" Jiang Ning suggested.

Lin Chen agreed, "Okay, you can keep an eye on things at the hospital."

Jiang Ning was taking care of her two children at the hospital and waited until the afternoon before receiving news from Lin Chen.

Lin Chen told him that Xu Jie was not at home; he had gotten into a car and left, and his whereabouts were unknown.

Jiang Ning's expression changed drastically. "He's fleeing to avoid punishment!"

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Ning entrusted the childcare to Lin Qiao.

Wang Xiufen had to go home to take care of Ji Min, so she didn't stay long.

Yang Lu and Song Jia went home to pick up their child.

The twins are in a special care ward, and there are bodyguards outside, so it should be safe here.

She wanted to go find Xu Jie herself.

Driving her Crown, she first went to Xu Jie's house.

Lucy was quite surprised to see Jiang Ning.

"Jiang Ning, I never imagined you would become a nationally renowned female entrepreneur. Why would a boss as big as you want to see my Xiao Jie?"

She had been imprisoned for framing Jiang Ning, and now that she saw her again, she was even more dazzling. She felt terrible inside, and her calm and disdain on the surface were all an act.

Jiang Ning glanced at her. "Stop talking nonsense. Where did Xu Jie go? He's suspected of kidnapping. If you don't tell me his whereabouts, I can tell the police. I don't need to elaborate on what will happen to someone with a criminal record like you!"

Lucy was unwilling to accept it, but she still revealed the fact that Xu Jie got into a Santana car.

"License plate number? Which direction are you going?" Jiang Ning's face was ashen, his eyes piercing her like a hawk's.

Lucy shuddered. "I...I can't remember clearly, I only remember the last two digits were 86. To the northeast."

Jiang Ning immediately thought of Chen Hao's car, a Santana, and the last two digits of the license plate number also matched.

She drove to the hotel where Chen Hao was staying as quickly as possible.

She entered through the space and approached his room.

The sound of Chen Hao talking to someone else could be heard coming from the room.

Moses Chan: "Why isn't Tao back yet? Didn't he say he'd be back as soon as he finished his business? He has an important dinner party tonight!"

A female voice said, "Mr. Chen, how about I find you another car? There might be a new situation with Brother Tao."

Chen Hao: "I told you long ago, Tao is stupid and can't do anything right. He insisted on using Xu Jie to kidnap the child to gain credit. Now that things have been exposed, he has to clean up the mess. Tell him not to involve me in this matter."

Jiang Ning now fully understood that Lin Tao was the one who orchestrated the kidnapping.

If she hadn't discovered the twins in time, who knows how he would have threatened her if the children had ended up in his hands!

Seeing that the people inside didn't say anything more, she drove northeast.

There was a train station to the northeast, and she guessed that Lin Tao would send Xu Jie away.

But when she arrived at the station, she found that the bus to Guangzhou wouldn't depart for another half hour. She walked around the station but couldn't find either of them.

She suddenly remembered hearing Chen Hao's comments about cleaning up messes. She realized that this kind of person probably wasn't so kind as to send people away; instead, he might directly take their lives.

She got back into the car and continued driving northeast.

As they walked further and further away, they arrived near a reservoir.

By this time, it was already getting dark, and further ahead lay waterways and dense forests, which was extremely dangerous.

Suddenly, she saw a dark figure walk up the hillside, get into the car, and disappear within a few feet.

She couldn't help but get out of the car, wanting to go up and find out what was going on.

Down the hillside, there are some bushes, half of which extend into the water.

She took out her flashlight to investigate and saw a corner of a burlap sack peeking out from the dark water amidst the haphazardly arranged bushes.

She took out something resembling a sling from her spatial storage, threw it onto the sack, and then slowly tightened it, pulling the sack ashore.

The sacks were huge, the kind that could hold two hundred kilograms of rice.

Looking at the bulging contents inside, she curiously untied the hemp rope at the top of the bag.

As soon as she opened the bag, she smelled blood. When she picked up the flashlight, she discovered that it was human hair.

In other words, there was a dead person in the sack.

Just as she was suppressing her nausea and trying to see who the dead person was, she heard the sound of police cars in the distance.

She panicked, quickly retied the sack, threw it into the water, and then hurried a few steps to get back to the car.

If all goes well, she can put the car in the storage space and no one will know she was here.

Unfortunately, she was in a rush and wasted time climbing the hill. Before she could even get close to the car, a police car had already stopped beside her.

Several beams of flashlight shone on the car and then shifted to her.

Jiang Ning took a deep breath and walked towards the Crown car.

The police officer stepped forward, saluted her, and asked her with a serious expression, "What are you doing here? Why did you get out of the car?"

Jiang Ning told the truth, "I just saw a dark figure coming up from below, so I went to check it out, but I didn't see anything."

She didn't mention finding the burlap sack.

The police didn't say anything more, telling her to wait in the car and not to leave, while they sent someone downstairs to check the situation.

Being professionals, they found the sack that had sunk to the bottom of the water in less than half an hour.

In an instant, this mudflat became a murder scene.

Jiang Ning, who was present at the scene, also became a suspect.

Jiang Ning was taken to the police station and detained for interrogation.

Before he could even figure out what was going on at school, he received news that his wife had been arrested. Lin Chen felt as if a giant hand was gripping his heart, making it hard to breathe.

Gao Baoliang supported him and encouraged him.

"Now your sister-in-law is counting on you, so you'd better be on your best."
