Chapter 63 Collaboration with Song Jia

Watching Song Jia's departing figure, Jiang Ning and Wang Xiufen exchanged a bewildered glance, then held hands and jumped around laughing.

Fifty pieces of clothing, two yuan each, that's one hundred yuan!

When Lin Chen returned and saw how happy they were, he smiled and listened to them tell him what had happened.

"Ah Chen, we've landed a big job." Jiang Ning looked up at her, a happy smile on her face.

Seeing her happy filled Lin Chen with immense sweetness. He pinched her little cheek and said with utmost affection:

"My wife is amazing!"

Wang Xiufen turned her head away, unfazed, with a warm, aunt-like smile on her face.

Hiding in the shadows, Ma Huijuan's face was clouded with worry. Watching all this, she almost bit her tongue off. Why was Jiang Ning always so lucky?

Jiang Ning returned to the house and addressed the people clamoring for refunds:

"Don't worry, everyone, we'll process your refunds right away."

Actually, many of them didn't really want to quit, but hearing her so readily agree made them hesitate.

"Jiang Zhiqing, why don't you hurry up and finish it quickly?"

Jiang Ning chuckled. She was the one who had been making the most noise just now. Others could be reasoned with, but not her.

"I'm sorry, as you heard, the textile factory needs that batch of goods urgently. Since you have concerns, I can't force you, and I'll refund your money immediately."

They were all sent away cleanly and efficiently. The remaining orders were from the auntie who had never complained before, and they had to be completed on time and with high quality.

"Oh dear, I need to hurry." Wang Xiufen grabbed her work clothes and went into the room.

He looked like an employee being watched by his supervisor.

Jiang Ning took out her notebook and checked the accounts one by one. There were still a few orders left, which she also needed to finish when she had time.

What exactly went wrong?

She couldn't understand it.

While she was busy, Liu Fang came over and brought her the answer.

She told Jiang Ning that someone had also written a letter to her father-in-law.

Good heavens, the signature is Yi Yong, and it's even on the commune's letter paper.

“Secretary Yi and my husband’s family are related. They can talk things out over a drink. There’s no need to write a letter. Someone must be impersonating her.”

Liu Fang analyzed that her rosy cheeks were clearly a sign of being newlyweds.

"Thank you. Shall I ask Secretary Yi to have a drink with me another day?" Jiang Ning tentatively suggested.

Liu Fang laughed heartily, "No problem! I'll invite him over next time!"

After Liu Fang left, Jiang Ning pondered for a long time and guessed a few candidates. However, without evidence, she couldn't make a judgment. Besides, she was very busy and didn't want to pursue the matter for the time being. She would wait for the mastermind behind it to surface on its own.

That evening, Wang Xiufen worked overtime again. Lin Chen helped her with her work by flashlight. They worked until 10 p.m. before finally finishing the sample work clothes.

She tried it on, and it fit perfectly, looking exactly the same as her old work clothes.

The next day, Jiang Ning carried the finished clothes, as if carrying a heavy dream, and went to the textile factory.

When the security guard saw her, he asked for her work ID with a stern face.

"Grandpa, I'm here to see my friend. She was playing at my house yesterday and left her work clothes behind. I was worried she'd be anxious, so I brought them to her," Jiang Ning said with a smile, making up a reason.

The old man's expression softened considerably, and he asked her which workshop her friend worked in.

Jiang Ning feigned embarrassment: "Oh, I didn't know she was an accountant."

Upon hearing that she was the accountant, the old man quickly opened the door for her.

“Accountants aren’t factory workers; they’re government officials. If you walk along this road, do you see that three-story building? The finance department is on the first floor.”

"Thank you." Jiang Ning smiled and thanked the old man, then took a handful of White Rabbit milk candies from her pocket and stuffed them into his hand.

Jiang Ning found Song Jia without much effort.

Song Jia took the clothes she had brought and went to the deputy factory director's office.

A dozen minutes later, she led Jiang Ning to the purchasing department to sign the contract.

In less than an hour, Jiang Ning had an extra contract order in her hands.

The contract stipulated that she would take the fabric, process it into clothes, and then bring it back to settle the payment.

When settling the bill, you'll need to provide a letter of introduction.

Jiang Ning knew that things had gone so smoothly thanks to Song Jia's mediation.

"Come on, let me treat you to lunch," she invited.

She didn't have a very good impression of Song Jia at first, and felt somewhat guilty.

"Okay, wait for me a moment."

After Song Jia finished speaking, she went to the deputy factory director's room again. When she came out, her face was flushed, and she took her arm and walked out.

As he left, the old man greeted Song Jia:

"Accountant Song, let's go out for dinner!"

Then he smiled at Jiang Ning. If he had known she was Accountant Song's friend, he wouldn't have asked her a single question.

The two arrived at the state-run restaurant, ordered two dishes each from the menu hanging on the wall, and waited for the staff to bring them to them.

It's clear that Song Jia comes here often. The staff are cold to everyone else, but they're all smiles at her and exchange a few pleasantries with her.

"My boyfriend didn't come today?"

"He's busy, he doesn't have time."

During the meal, Song Jia got straight to the point and told Jiang Ning that the photo studio had received many orders for clothes, and her father had already registered them. However, she had an idea and wanted to cooperate with her.

Jiang Ning was quite interested: "How do we cooperate?"

"It's not easy for you to come all the way to the county town. Besides my job, I have a lot of free time. I can help you measure the dimensions of all these orders, write down the customers' requirements, and send them to you all at once after we've collected them all..."

Song Jia explained her thoughts in detail.

Jiang Ning's face lit up with surprise: "Actually, I had the same idea. If you're willing, I'd be more than happy to oblige. As for the profit sharing, just make your request and I'll try my best to meet it."

People may be happy to help others occasionally, but they won't always be happy to help others.

Song Jia chuckled: "I knew you were very straightforward the first time I met Jiang Zhiqing. Can I earn a penny for running errands for each piece of clothing?"

Jiang Ning smiled; this girl wasn't greedy.

"I'll give you a dime for ordinary clothes, and three cents for big items." Jiang Ning wouldn't let her suffer a loss.

To be honest, it would be too tiring to travel back and forth to the county town by myself.

Once the work uniform orders are finished, we'll have to pick up the orders from the commune again, which will be quite a workload.

The processing fee for an ordinary piece of clothing in the county town is one yuan, so asking for ten cents is not too much for her.

After finalizing the details of the collaboration, the two chatted about everyday matters.

Only then did I realize that the photo studio was closed when I came last time because the director was celebrating his 50th birthday.

“Your dad is fifty. I thought he was only in his forties. He looks quite young.”

"Young? My hair's already starting to turn gray. I'm just looking forward to getting married soon!"

"Don't you already have a boyfriend?"

“My dad introduced him to me. He said we met at a photo studio. I think he’s a bit too old, so I’m still evaluating him.”

"That requires careful consideration..."
