Chapter 81 He ate the shoe

Song Jia clutched at He Xiao's shirt, her head buried deep in her clothes, her face flushed with embarrassment.

This was the first time she had ever seen such intimate behavior between a man and a woman.

The visual impact is enormous.

Reason told her not to look, but her head unconsciously peeked out again, wanting to see what was going on.

Just as she bit her lip and looked up, He Xiao finally couldn't resist the temptation and quickly pecked her lips.

Caught off guard, Song Jia felt a soft touch on the corner of her lips, and her body trembled slightly as if struck by an electric current.

So this is what kissing feels like—a tingling, numb sensation that feels so good.

She blushed and looked at He Xiao.

He Xiao's face was even redder than hers, and he was looking at her with deep, innocent eyes, focused and passionate.

Song Jia couldn't help but swallow.

My God, he looks so innocent and abstinent, it's so captivating.

I heard that after marriage, the two people will still sleep together. He's so shy about kissing her. What will they do after they get married?

Oh no, she actually started thinking about getting married to him; she'd fallen for him.

Thinking of this, she stubbornly turned her head away, not wanting to be the one who fell in love first.

The next second, He Xiao cupped her face in his hands and pressed his hot lips to hers.

The two remained there, lips touching lips, the scene frozen, yet their bodies radiated heat, and the surrounding air temperature continued to rise.

After an unknown amount of time, their breathing became erratic, and they stopped kissing.

"Going to the movies?"

He Xiao held her for a long time to calm her down, and then whispered in her ear.

Song Jia nodded.

The two held hands and arrived at the movie theater, where they met Jiang Ning and his wife at the entrance.

Jiang Ning greeted them with a smile, "Let me take a picture of you."

Just now by the river, I was so focused on letting the two of them be alone that I forgot I had a camera.

Song Jia and He Xiao exchanged a glance and then smiled at Jiang Ning.

This is their first photo together.

A spy film called "The Reef" is currently showing in the cinema, and people are enjoying it immensely in an era with little entertainment.

Jiang Ning and Lin Chen leaned their heads together, holding hands, exchanging a few words every now and then.

He Xiao held Song Jia's hand the whole time, his palms sweating. He couldn't stop grinning like an idiot whenever he thought about the kiss earlier, and he didn't pay any attention to what the movie was about.

After watching the movie, it's time to get down to business.

He Xiao entered the office and seemed like a different person. After making some more contact, he said to Jiang Ning:

"Go to the warehouse. I've already arranged for them to load the trucks. The ex-factory price is 920 yuan per ton of cotton. Go to the finance department to pay, and you can pick up the goods with the receipt."

The union has delivered all the donated cotton-padded coats to the warehouse; they can be loaded directly onto the trucks without costing anything.

"Thank you." Jiang Ning and Lin Chen came out of the office.

After paying, they arrived at the warehouse and discovered that He Xiao had been incredibly thorough; the cotton had already been loaded onto the truck.

A Jiefang brand truck can carry at least ten tons of cotton. He used a whole truck for just one ton, and there was no charge for picking up the truck.

The driver was very enthusiastic; after loading the cotton, he also helped load the donated cotton-padded coats.

Lin Chen told Jiang Ning to stay behind and ride with the carriage later, while he returned to the guesthouse to take the oxcart.

......

Tea Garden Village.

Starting in the morning, Lin Fugui sent people to the village entrance to check if Jiang Ning's oxcart had returned.

They waited until evening, but they still couldn't see them.

Everyone is saying that things might not be going well; even if they manage to buy cotton, it won't be able to get it back quickly in this freezing weather.

Lin Tao stood by and made sarcastic remarks:

"What's wrong with them? They just can't do it, they're too afraid to come back. You guys are really ridiculous, pinning your hopes on a sent-down youth, what abilities could she possibly have!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Fugui angrily rebuked him: "What can you do besides spew filth from your mouth! You have the nerve to criticize others, you steal money yourself, and your wife is also of impure intentions. Stop embarrassing yourself in public!"

Lin Tao was furious. Was the Party Secretary getting senile? He was always taking Jiang Ning's side!

"You're all idiots! I'm telling you this now: if Jiang Ning can buy the cotton back, I'll eat the shoes!"

He shouted angrily.

Gao Qiang sighed. How could there be such a clueless person? Never tell anyone outside that you are related to him.

He intervened on Lin Tao's behalf, saying:

"Alright, Lin Tao, go back and stay here."

Who knew he wouldn't appreciate it and kept babbling on and on.

Just then, someone ran over to report: "Secretary, Lin Chen's oxcart is back."

Lin Fugui's eyes lit up: "Do you have cotton?"

The man scratched his head and thought back, "I don't think so."

Lin Fugui sighed, realizing he had ultimately put Jiang Zhiqing in a difficult position.

Thinking that they had been out in the snow for so long, he led everyone to the village entrance to welcome them back.

Lin Tao scoffed, "You guys really have nothing better to do. What's there to welcome a loser like him?"

Gao Qiang glared at him: "If you're not going, then get out!"

"I'll go. I want to see how they'll have the nerve to come back."

Lin Tao followed the crowd with a look of morbid curiosity.

Just as the group reached the village entrance and met up with Lin Chen, a truck slowly drove towards them in the dim light of dusk.

Lin Chen reported to Lin Fugui, "Secretary, we brought back the cotton, one ton."

"What?" Lin Fugui thought he was hallucinating.

He was already content if Jiang Ning could bring back 200 jin of cotton in an oxcart.
