While the two were passionately exchanging vows, Ma Huijuan was still outside tidying up the tables and chairs.
The people who came to help couldn't get a pack of cigarettes from Lin Tao, and in a fit of anger, they left without packing anything.
The house was a complete mess, inside and out; it was an eyesore.
Yu Xiaofeng then arranged for her to clean the house.
"Mom, I'm getting married today. I've been busy since early morning, and I'm exhausted!" she protested loudly.
Lin Tao slapped her across the face:
"I should be burning incense with gratitude that I can marry you, instead of whining like this."
Yu Xiaofeng also said, "Doing chores is what a daughter-in-law should do. I've been a daughter-in-law for many years and now I'm a mother-in-law. Do you expect me to do these things? I've never let your father do any chores before!"
What else could we do but grit our teeth and deal with it?
Today is the fifteenth of August, a day for everyone to reunite with their families. But I have no home to return to, and no one cares about me. Only the lonely moonlight keeps me company.
