Lieutenant General Liu Keyan stood with his hands behind his back, the cold wind ruffling his military jacket.
In the dark woods, his trusted subordinates have dispersed, and whispers occasionally reach his ears. This is their hunting ground.
"The target has been locked." Yu Jing's voice was calm and steady in the earphone.
Liu Keyan's eyes were deep: "Solve it quickly and leave no traces."
Yu Jing leaped out of the bushes, his movements as fast as a shadow. He tapped his tactical bracelet to warm up his weapon, his movements as precise as a textbook.
When I took the third step, the air suddenly became colder.
He paused, frowning: "The temperature is abnormal, and an unknown energy has been detected—"
Before he finished speaking, invisible forces pressed in from all directions.
His body froze, as if frozen.
Click.
With a crisp sound, his body twisted suddenly, his limbs broke unnaturally, and his pupils were full of disbelief.
The next second, his entire body shattered like porcelain, and his blood froze into fine ice beads, scattering on the ground.
There was a hissing sound from the earphones.
"Yu Jing...something's wrong." The voice sounded low and trembling.
In the distance, Shao Ze was crouching behind a rock, holding a heavy weapon tightly in his hands.
In the night vision device, everything around was dead silent.
"What happened to Yu Jing? Report."
There is only a short current sound in the headset.
He trembled slightly, but quickly regained his composure.
"Lieutenant General, I have no way of knowing his situation. The target area is clear and the invincibility is abnormal. I will continue to advance."
He moved slowly, his eyes fixed straight ahead.
Suddenly, there was a vibration under my feet, as if something was drilling out from the ground.
He raised his gun, but there was dead silence all around.
"Report, no abnormal targets." The voice was forced to be calm.
Just then, I felt a burning sensation on the back of my hand.
He looked down and found red cracks appearing on his skin, like the imprint of burning iron chains.
The pain intensified, and he tore open his combat uniform violently. Red cracks spread all over his body, even emitting thick smoke.
"ah--!!!"
A scream pierced the night sky. His hands were rotten, blood burst out from his chest, and his internal organs were burned black.
After a violent convulsion, Shao Ze fell to the ground with smoke rising from his body.
The sound of current in the headset was interrupted again.
Liu Keyan's brows furrowed even more tightly, and he asked in a low voice: "What's going on?"
Not far away, Shen Lu was holding a shock wave weapon and carefully adjusting his position.
His job is to clear obstacles and make way for the rest of the team.
The scream in the earphone made his face change slightly, but he still gritted his teeth and continued to move.
"Shen Lu, report, what's going on?"
Shen Lu's voice was stiff: "I don't know the situation, but I will complete the task."
He aimed his shockwave weapon at the open space in front of him, with a ruthless look in his eyes.
"Turn it to maximum power and show them how strong we are."
The shockwave weapon began to hum, gathering energy.
The moment he pressed the trigger, the light suddenly spread in the opposite direction.
"Impossible--!" His eyes widened and his face turned pale.
The energy rebounded into his body at an irresistible speed.
Every muscle twitched and the skin split as if cut by a knife.
The energy exploded in his chest, and Shen Lu was instantly blown into a bloody mess.
There was a muffled sound, and then silence fell all around.
His remains lay on the ground, blood spreading out like a giant black flower.
The entire battlefield was in dead silence.
The auxiliary forces fell one after another.
Some people's bodies collapsed without warning and shattered into pieces.
Some people were burned like paper and turned into ashes.
Liu Keyan stood where he was, staring at the shadow in front of him.
"Who's there?" His voice growled, and the dagger was unsheathed.
No answer.
There are no enemies.
Only endless darkness enveloped everything.
The wind returned to calm, as if nothing had happened.
Liu Keyan's face turned livid, he clenched his fists, and his voice seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
"What kind of power is this?"
When Song Zhengyi and Lin Lao arrived, what they saw was a battlefield like purgatory.
"Oh my God..." Song Zhengyi's voice was stuck in his throat, his eyes fixed on Yu Jing's shattered ice corpse.
Elder Lin squatted beside Shao Ze's charred remains, reached out and touched it lightly, then immediately withdrew his fingers.
"It's still hot."
The air was filled with the smell of blood and burning.
Every step is like walking on thin ice.
Liu Keyan stood there, his back straight but revealing a sense of oppression.
He took a deep breath and spoke coldly.
"No longer cooperate with the Bai family."
Song Zhengyi looked at him with complicated eyes.
"Lieutenant General, this is..."
Liu Keyan did not answer, turned and left, leaving only a low instruction.
"withdraw."
Song Zhengyi turned to look at Shen Lu's bloody remains, his expression even more shocked.
Gu Man is very far away from here, but can her ability radiate here?
Mr. Lin was even more shocked. Is this something that can be accomplished by human power?
The wind blew across the battlefield, and the air was filled with the smell of dried blood.
Liu Keyan's back gradually moved away, but his footsteps seemed so heavy for the first time.
Song Zhengyi stood where he was, his eyes sweeping across the mess on the ground, his chest feeling as if a huge rock was pressing down on it.
"What...is this power?" he muttered to himself, with an indescribable chill in his tone.
Elder Lin squatted beside the charred corpse, stretched out his hand to feel the air, his brows deeply furrowed.
"Pure murderous intent. No fancy moves, not even energy fluctuations, but every movement is as precise as a scalpel." He stood up, brushed off the ashes on his hands, his eyes sharp.
"It's a completely irresistible force."
"People who can do this are no longer human."
When Liu Keyan left the battlefield, the shadow on his face seemed to be so deep that it could not be removed.
The car was eerily quiet. He watched the scenery outside the window pass by quickly, while the scenes just now replayed in his mind.
The shattered bodies, charred remains, and exploding flesh and blood of his subordinates.
"Everyone, all wiped out."
His voice was low, like a cold stone falling into a deep pool.
His adjutant sat beside him, sweating profusely, but dared not make a sound.
After a moment, Liu Keyan spoke with a cold tone:
"The Bai family said that their resources can control the situation. Is this the result of control?"
The adjutant whispered:
"Lieutenant General... perhaps we underestimated the opponent's strength."
Liu Keyan sneered and tapped lightly on the car window.
"Underestimate?" His voice was filled with hidden anger.
"I think the Bai family overestimated themselves."
He turned his head and looked at the adjutant coldly, his eyes as sharp as knives.
"Pass on my message. From today on, we will sever our cooperation with the Bai family. All resources will be taken back."
The adjutant was startled, raised his head and looked at Liu Keyan, his eyes full of shock.
"Lieutenant General, the Bai family will be unhappy."
Liu Keyan snorted coldly, his tone full of disdain.
"So what if they are dissatisfied? Those idiots will only shoot themselves in the foot. I will not die with them."
