To develop a new medicine out of nothing is an extremely challenging task.
Not to mention, there are almost no medicines to refer to.
Wolfsbane potion addresses brain problems and has nothing to do with lycanthropy.
This was also very different from what Harry and Snape had done with their research on witcher potions - the witcher's various potions were a headache, but at least Harry was very familiar with them and knew their effects and properties.
But... Harry had only heard of the potion that could lift the werewolf curse, and knew that the most crucial ingredient was "virgin tears", which was not rare, so he could just let Hermione cry a few times.
Other than that, I know nothing.
This gave Harry and Snape a headache.
Dear Slytherin Headmaster, he has cursed Harry in letters more than once, wondering if he was infected by Sirius and suddenly did such a thing on impulse.
Although he speaks in a hostile manner but acts upright in his heart, he always gives his own thoughts after he finishes scolding others.
July is here.
Sirius became more obedient and rarely went out racing. He only played games with Dudley occasionally. He spent the rest of his time in the living room, asking Petunia for advice and knitting clothes.
Parsley is common.
But it is very difficult to weave them into a shirt, and there is a limit on the quantity, only five pieces can be used.
Sirius was scrambling.
The Dursleys had been eating parsley for seven days straight, and Dudley and Vernon's faces were all the color of parsley, especially Dudley, who could hardly stand the creature.
Why eat grass when there are magic weight loss pills!
July 10th.
Lupin moved out and did not go to the Potter house. They moved to a deserted and empty lot, set up a tent, and Harry had to go back to sleep every day.
On the day of the full moon.
Lupin drank the last bottle of wolfsbane potion: "Harry, the potion you brew is much better than the one Snape brewed."
"He was very restrained in not poisoning you." Harry took the potion bottle from his hand, cleaned it and put it back in his pocket. "But... you have only drunk potions brewed by Professor Snape and me?"
Lupin was startled, then realized something and turned his head away: "The weather is really nice tonight."
Sirius vaguely sensed that something was wrong, but couldn't figure it out for a moment, so he frowned and began to think.
"George and Fred should pay you a lot every month. Can't you even afford the wolfsbane potion?" Harry also frowned and lowered his tone.
Lupin sighed, "Brother Weasley pays me a lot of money every month, thirty-five Galleons a week!"
"Their net profit per month is only over 500 Galleons."
Harry's brow relaxed.
Thirty-five galleons a week is not considered low. Ordinary professors at Hogwarts, such as Hagrid and Trelawney, only earn forty galleons a week.
And Ron mentioned that his brother Bill, who worked as a curse-breaker at Gringotts in Egypt, only earned twenty-five bucks a week.
Lupin is already considered a high-income earner in the wizarding world.
"But I still can't afford the wolfsbane potion." Lupin rubbed his face. "Although a bottle of wolfsbane potion only costs twenty Galleons, there is still the cost of hiring a potion master to brew it, and the cost of the medicinal materials..."
He counted on his fingers: "If I really want to buy a bottle of potion, it will cost at least thirty Galleons."
He paused and said, "And if you want the wolfsbane potion to take effect, you need to take it for a full week before the full moon, one bottle a day for seven days."
It costs more than two hundred Galleons a month.
Even though he has a high salary now, the money he earns is still not enough to cover the cost of medicine.
"Excellent." Harry applauded him. "Maybe because you've turned into a werewolf so many times, your brain has become..."
Halfway through his curse, he remembered that his Animagus was the alpha wolf, so he paused for a moment and changed the subject: "Has your brain become as small as the troll's?"
"I'm such a big person, and I'm your boss's classmate. I call you uncle, and I write to you at least once a week, but you never mentioned it to me."
Sirius gritted his teeth, feeling very disappointed: "Remus, only over 300 a month..."
"Two hundred and ten Galleons," Harry corrected him.
Sirius paused, "It's only over two hundred. It's not like I can't afford it. My uncle's savings should be enough for you to drink wolfsbane potion for a lifetime."
"Even if uncle's money is not enough, there is still Blake's money. You know, we in Blake are the least short of money."
Lupin opened his mouth, about to speak.
Harry immediately spoke up: "You have seen the process of my making the wolfsbane potion these days. It is not troublesome and very simple."
"I have to brew potions every day to practice. Other potions are no different from the wolfsbane potion."
Lupin nodded and sighed, "Okay, I'll tell you next month."
"That is, I just don't want to take care of it." Sirius shook his head, looking very proud. "Otherwise, with the people I know now, it would be no problem for me to become the largest herbal medicine supplier in Great Britain."
"Remus, we will never be short of potion ingredients in our house."
Harry leaned over and took a look at the sky: "Let's go, the moon is out."
They walked out of the tent, and Sirius carefully held the clothes he had woven with five parsley leaves. When a werewolf transforms, its body will swell and become larger, and the robes will be broken, let alone this kind of clothes.
The breeze pushed aside the clouds, revealing a bright full moon, with silver light shining down and a layer of white frost.
The night is beautiful.
Lupin was in a bad mood.
The more beautiful the moon is, the greater the impact you will receive.
Harry and Sirius immediately turned back into Animagus. Lupin's body froze, his head was elongated, with a wolf's mouth and pointed ears, and his body swelled. His hands and feet were stretched out and long, with sharp claws and gray fur all over his body.
The wolfsbane potion takes effect.
Lupin suppressed the urge to scream to the sky, swayed his body, sat down helplessly, opened his mouth, and said in a hoarse and rough voice: "Hey, Harry, this should be the first time you see me like this."
"Werewolves are really ugly."
Harry changed back to human form, moved closer, and stretched out his hand to touch it: "Tsk, the fur is short and hard, and the color is not pretty."
Lupin was stunned. Is this the focus?
Sirius also transformed back into human form.
The two of them carefully helped Lupin put on the Parsley shirt.
"Don't you think werewolves are ugly?" Lupin sat tense, not daring to move, for fear of accidentally tearing his shirt.
"Except for the fur color, everything is fine." Harry commented, "It would be nice if it were white."
"Or pure black." Sirius added his own point of view, "It's not white, it's not black, this grayish color looks dull."
"That's right," Harry agreed.
Lupin didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and felt a little warm in his heart.
He looked up at the moon.
It was no longer as hideous as before, nor was it so high and out of reach. It seemed to be right next to him - he suddenly understood why so many poets loved the moon.
Now, he likes it a little bit.
Harry and Sirius did not chant like Lupin, they were busy making a fire - Sirius did not want to use spells, and planned to try to make fire by rubbing two sticks together.
Sawdust, hay, and a drill made by magic.
Sirius had a good idea.
But after working for half an hour, only some smoke and dust came out, and not a single spark could be seen.
He finally gave up the idea, gave up on himself, and started a bonfire with a blazing flame.
"Uncle Remus, do you want to eat cooked food or raw food now?" Harry asked as he took the ingredients out of his pocket.
"Cooked food," Lupin answered simply.
Mutton, beef, and some vegetables and fruits were roasting over the flames, and Sirius began to sing the ballads they had learned at Hogwarts, which were much better than the Sorting Hat's.
Harry watched Lupin carefully.
The parsley leaves blended with the moonlight, but there was no magical smell.
They ate and drank, and the Sorting Hat brought Godric and Fawkes over to greet them until the early morning. When the moon was about to set, Lupin began to change quietly.
His mouth and ears were shrinking, his body was shrinking, his teeth and claws were shortening, and he was becoming like a normal person.
After a while.
Only Lupin, naked and wearing a parsley suit, was left sitting on the ground.
"It works!" Sirius jumped up, looking excited and dancing.
Harry said nothing, but raised his wand.
Lupin immediately held out his hand.
Harry took some of his blood and put it together with the potion that had been prepared earlier. There is a big difference between werewolf blood and normal human blood.
"How is it?" Sirius asked impatiently.
There was also some anticipation in Lupin's eyes.
Harry shook his head: "It's not cured."
They were both stunned.
"But you can't say it has no effect." Harry waved his wand and took off Lupin's clothes.
The moonlight shines.
Lupin's face and body instantly elongated again, turning back into a werewolf.
Sirius stared at the scene in a daze, his brain froze, unable to understand.
"When the power of the moon phase declines to a certain extent, parsley can produce a certain inhibitory effect." Harry took out a quill and parchment and summarized, "But this inhibitory power is very weak."
"Now it is ..."
He raised his wrist and looked at the time: "It's 4:52 now. The sun will rise in less than half an hour."
"If I don't take off my clothes, it will only allow Remus to transform into a human half an hour earlier?" Sirius kicked a stone and pouted.
Harry nodded. "To be exact, I'm afraid it can only be ten or fifteen minutes earlier, but it's good news."
"There is something that can suppress lycanthosis. We just need to study and understand why celery works and figure out its properties. Maybe we can develop a drug that can cure lycanthosis."
Harry was prepared to get nothing.
The powers of the two worlds are not interconnected. If this method can have even a little effect, it will be an unexpected surprise.
When the last letter fell on the parchment.
Harry whistled.
In the distance, Hedwig flew over reluctantly, grabbed the parchment in Harry's hand, and flew away to send the letter to Snape.
