Chapter 248 Professor

Normally, wizards who are qualified to become professors at Hogwarts have a relatively high social status.

Although Defense Against the Dark Arts professors have been a scarce resource in the past few decades, and Dumbledore would have a headache for a while every year looking for new professors, but he never lowered his requirements - Lockhart was an exception. Dumbledore had read those books and there was some truth between the lines, but who would have thought that he was a memory thief?

They will not be short of money.

Lupin was an exception, he had abilities, but before he met Harry and welcomed Sirius back, he only had abilities and nothing else. This forced him to choose the same means of transportation as the students.

"We have to wait until the start of term to meet the new professor?" Ron muttered.

"You want to see him so badly?" Harry asked.

Ron nodded, "Of course, haven't you listened to Remus, Sirius, and Tonks during this time?"

"They praised the new professor highly, saying that he could teach everyone how to protect themselves, especially in the current situation."

Harry and Hermione opened their mouths, wanting to say something.

"It seems like he is really good at protecting himself?" Hermione said hesitantly, "After all, that year."

"The body is good at it." Harry nodded, "And he has to prepare for the class in advance."

Hermione's eyes lit up: "That's perfect, it will make up for the piece he's missing the most."

Ron was confused: "What, what, you also know who the professor is? Did Remus or Sirius tell you?"

He felt a little aggrieved: "I begged them many times, but they didn't tell me."

"They didn't tell us either," Harry began.

"We guessed it," Hermione continued.

Ron was shocked: "Can this be guessed?"

"There aren't many people who are qualified to be professors at Hogwarts." Harry analyzed for him and sorted out his thoughts. "And he has a very good relationship with Lupin and Tonks. There are even fewer people like him, and he can even get their praise..."

"Who is it pointing to? It's actually very obvious."

Ron frowned in thought.

"Is it Mrs. Vance?" He quickly guessed that this was the lady who accompanied Harry, Sirius and others back to the Potter mansion last time.

All he got was Harry and Hermione shaking their heads.

"That's Mr. Diggle?" He uttered another name, Dedalus Diggle, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, who respected Harry very much. He was very powerful and could even use advanced magic to summon a large meteor shower - he did this in Kent on the day of Voldemort's death. A large meteor shower troubled astronomers, but they couldn't observe it; it also scared the Ministry of Magic, who thought it was a counterattack by the Death Eaters.

He and Sirius were very good friends.

Molly had lamented more than once that Dedalus and Sirius were like half-twin brothers, equally young, equally handsome, equally possessed of outstanding magical abilities, and most importantly, equally brainless.

Once again, Harry and Hermione vetoed.

Ron was very serious. He sent away Lavender who came to visit him, as well as Ginny and Luna who came to greet him arm in arm. Molly and Arthur had told Ginny several times that she must become good friends with Luna, or at least not let anyone bully her again.

If you have any trouble, go to George and Fred. This is their last year at Hogwarts, and it's time for them to make the most of their remaining time.

The train gradually arrived at the station.

Ron was startled and took a deep breath: "Could it be my dad?"

The salary in the Ministry of Magic is not high, far less than that in Hogwarts, not to mention the social status. How can a small office director be as tall as a professor in Hogwarts? His brothers have surpassed him in income and social status one by one. Maybe as a father he feels a little anxious and is persuaded by Professor Dumbledore.

As for abilities...

Mr. Arthur just looks ordinary and lacks practical experience, but in terms of magical level, perhaps Scrimgeour is worse than him. At least his attainments in alchemy are such that he can be called a master without any problem.

"No." Harry shook his head.

Ron breathed a sigh of relief: "Really?"

"It's not," Hermione emphasized.

Ron stroked his chest and said, "That's good. That's great."

It was a very strange feeling to have one's parents become one's professors. He felt uncomfortable even when he just thought about it.

They changed into their robes.

"But if he's not even my father, who else could it be?" Ron counted on his fingers, thinking about the people he had met after the Order of the Phoenix was reorganized. Except for his two brothers who were still working abroad, he reported almost all of them.

"You'll know soon." Harry answered him as he got off the train.

Ron gritted his teeth. Must we wait until the opening dinner?

Hagrid welcomes the new students as usual. Even though he has become a professor, he still has this part-time job.

Harry and the others followed the path and came to the Thestral carriage.

Luna and Ginny had arrived earlier, and they tiptoed to greet them.

"Harry, Hermione, I leave Luna to you." Ginny pushed the girl forward, "I have a lot of friends, and the carriage can't accommodate her."

Luna nodded obediently without any emotion.

She could feel that Ginny didn't hate her at all, she just cared about her friends' feelings.

Of course Harry and the others had no objection and got into the carriage together.

"So, who will be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this year?" Ron looked at Harry. "We'll be at the castle in ten minutes at most. Tell me."

"Little Ronnie, don't you know?" Luna looked at him.

Ron was shocked: "You knew that too?"

Luna nodded and looked at Harry again: "Should I say it?"

Harry waved his hand: "Just say it if you want to. It's not a secret."

"Then I won't say anything." Luna shrank back and squeezed into the backrest.

Ron was a little absent-minded, looking at her in confusion: "Did you guess that too?"

"No, it was my father who told me." Luna shook her head. "He also told me to be careful, but I think he's a very good person."

Ron frowned, "Mr. Lovegood also knows the new professor?"

Luna nodded.

Ron rubbed his face, trying to recall whether he had overlooked someone whose presence was not high.

Hermione chattered and pulled Luna to discuss. She was very interested in Ravenclaw. The Sorting Hat had suggested that she go to Ravenclaw. He was very interested in the collection of books that took up the entire common room. Luna introduced it as detailed as possible, and Hermione listened attentively.

Soon they arrived in front of the castle, they got off the carriage and entered the castle.

When Ron looked up, he saw Sirius chatting happily with Professor Flitwick in the teacher's seat - this was the most comfortable holiday Flitwick had had in recent years. His face was ruddy and he seemed to have gained a little weight.

"It's Sirius!" Ron called out his name in disbelief.

In the teaching booth, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor waved happily at them.

"It's Sirius." Ron responded to him and sat down with a look of disbelief on his face.

He hadn't thought it would be Sirius, after all, he was the one who had praised the new professor the most - who would have thought he would be so self-boasting.

"Why not him?" Harry asked him back, "You should have thought of it earlier."

"Sirius has experience," Hermione said softly, "He taught Remus before. Although his style was a little different, he was also very popular with students and the results were quite good."

Ron was very resentful: "If he hadn't boasted so much, I think I would have thought of it a long time ago."

The freshmen came in quickly and were sorted into colleges under the arrangement of Professor McGonagall.

"Harry, remember to take me with you!" The Sorting Hat, which was placed on a high stool, shouted towards the Gryffindor table. Its spirituality disappeared in an instant, and it was obvious that it had returned to its body on the motorcycle.

The freshmen didn't understand what was going on and looked at Harry in confusion.

Harry waved his wand and the hat flew over and was hung around his waist expertly.

The old students and the new wizards explained.

The dinner went on happily until the last person had eaten.

Dumbledore stood up and coughed softly. "After a delicious dinner, I think I have to repeat what I say every year."

"Mr. Filch reminded me again and again before the start of school this year that I was not allowed to perform magic in the corridor, use the tricks of the Weasley brothers' joke workshop, or set off fireworks that cause serious pollution."

"Last year, during the Triwizard Tournament, Mr. Filch had to spend a lot of time cleaning up the fireworks every day."

"The new list of prohibited items is posted on the door of Mr. Filch's office. You can go and take a look. There are more than a hundred new items added this year."

George and Fred were unhappy.

This is cutting off their source of income.

The Weasley Brothers Joke Shop only has more than twenty kinds of products now, so it goes without saying that all of them are on the list.

"Also, there is a change in our teaching staff this year. Professor Moody is very good, but the Ministry of Magic has recalled him to further train the Aurors in the turbulent situation, so we welcome Sirius Black, who will take over the Defense Against the Dark Arts course."

Sirius stood up.

His appearance was very charming, with his hair casually styled and hanging in slightly curly shapes. He had a pair of grey eyes that exuded a unique and profound temperament. He wore a navy blue robe that matched the colour of his eyes, and he looked like the brightest star in the teaching booth.

The Gryffindors applauded enthusiastically, as they had had a good relationship with the old senior during the Triwizard Tournament.

The applause from the other colleges was hesitant.

Not to mention the controversy surrounding Black, he was once a wanted criminal by the Ministry of Magic.

Judging from the appearance, this was undoubtedly the most handsome professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts they had ever seen - and the previous professor who also had an outstanding appearance was named "Gilderoy Lockhart".

"Besides that, there's good news. The Quidditch Cup is back this year!"

“Selection will begin in the second week of school, and I hope all colleges will be ready.”

As he spoke, he waved his hand.

“Let’s welcome a brand new school year!”
