Chapter 27: Night Exploration of the Forbidden Forest

Hagrid was a little uneasy: "Harry, is there something wrong with the egg?"

"You might be the one with the problem." Harry patted his thigh - he wanted to pat his shoulder, but that was the only way he could reach when sitting.

Hagrid told him the events of that evening in detail.

After drinking and asking for information, the man came over and played cards with him. He lost about two Galleons and had no money left. So he took out the dragon egg mysteriously, and Hagrid won it.

He also talked about many magical animals, such as unicorns, eight-eyed spiders, and the three-headed dog named Fluffy...

The man also seemed to be a well-informed fan of magical animals.

This seems... a normal topic?

"So what did you set up in the corridor on the fourth floor?" Harry asked suddenly, "Acromantic spiders or three-headed dogs?"

"It's Fluffy, he's very loyal..." Hagrid answered subconsciously. Halfway through his speech, he realized something was wrong and stood up, knocking over a chair and slamming it to the ground. "Harry, how did you know!"

"Dumbledore told me." Harry waved his hand, signaling him to calm down.

Hagrid held onto the chair and sat back down. "He? How could he tell you that?"

"I have an agreement with him, it's not important." Harry looked at the dragon egg, "It seems that man approached you on purpose."

Hagrid finally reacted and turned pale: "You mean, he wants to steal the Philosopher's Stone?"

"Most likely the guy who robbed Gringotts last time," Ron added.

Hermione concluded: "So that's Professor Quirrell?"

"No, no, no." Hagrid shook his head like a rattle. "How can you speculate about a professor like that? Last time it was Professor Snape, this time it's Quirrell..."

Harry interrupted him: "This is also what Dumbledore and I confirmed."

Hagrid opened his mouth, unsure of what to say.

He doesn’t even know…

Why did Dumbledore tell Harry everything?!

"I think you'd better talk to Dumbledore about this," Harry suggested sincerely.

Hagrid hesitated: "But...how am I going to deal with the dragon egg issue?"

"Hagrid!" Hermione seemed a little anxious. "It's a dragon. It's easy to deal with now. Once it hatches, it will grow to be as big as your house in two months!"

"And it can breathe fire and burn your house down," Ron agreed.

Hagrid looked at Harry miserably.

"I saw a few potions that require dragon eggs." Harry was very interested. "Give it to me and I'll help you deal with it. I can give you twenty Galleons, or thirty is fine."

Hagrid was shocked: "No, it's a dragon, a life."

"It hasn't hatched yet." Harry thought about the potion formula. "A dragon egg is rare."

Hagrid stood up again and pulled Harry and the stool away. "No, Harry, you're right. I have to explain this to Dumbledore."

"Okay." Harry said regretfully, "But if Dumbledore finds a way to let you raise it, can you provide me with some dragon scales and dragon blood?"

Hagrid hesitated. He looked into Harry's expressionless eyes and nodded hesitantly: "If I can raise it, I can provide a little."

"Only a little."

As long as you don't make dragon eggs into potions, everything will be fine.

After staying for a while, they couldn't stand the scorching heat anymore, so they turned around and said goodbye. In the process, they received a bag of slightly softened rock cakes.

As soon as he left the house, Ron took a deep breath of the cool air: "I'm almost suffocating in there."

"Wait, Harry, we seem to be here to ask for materials?" Hermione had only taken a few steps when she remembered something, stopped and reminded him.

Ron was stunned and slapped his head: "Oops, seeing the dragon egg made me forget about this."

"Hagrid is much more worried than I am right now." Harry shook his head. "He really wants to keep that dragon."

"What should we do?" Hermione frowned. "We can only steal from Professor Snape..."

Harry interrupted him and whispered, "Hagrid said there were signs of Bicorn activity in the Forbidden Forest. I plan to go to the Forbidden Forest and take a look."

"No, the Forbidden Forest is too dangerous." Hermione rejected it decisively.

Harry shook his head, "This is better than facing Professor Snape."

When Ron thought of that greasy long hair and bat-like figure, he couldn't help but shudder: "I would rather face a dragon than Professor Snape."

Hermione opened her mouth, but the words came out of her throat as a sigh. If she were to ask herself, she would rather run into a troll in the bathroom again than offend Snape - at least, in the bathroom, she knew Harry would come to save her.

"Don't worry, you know I'm very perceptive." Harry comforted her, "If I encounter danger, I know how to run away, and my legs won't become weak."

Hermione gritted her teeth, stamped her foot, and snorted.

Harry is good at everything.

Only this mouth...

Back in the dormitory, they reviewed the information about the Bicorns again.

This is a very evil magical creature. As its name suggests, it has two horns - not symmetrical horns like those of cows, sheep or deer.

Instead, it has two straight horns like those of a unicorn, except that the unicorn is a positive spiral, while its two horns are counter-spirals.

Obese, with a horse's body and cow's hooves, he likes to eat leopards and cows. His favorite food is a kind and loyal husband - such as Mr. Arthur Weasley.

Or if Snape had the chance to get married, he might also be included in the Bicorn diet.

They don't have any preference for their living environment, they'll be wherever there's food.

The feces usually have a bitter smell - a common problem among carnivores.

When it was night, Neville and the others went to bed.

Harry put on his invisibility cloak and slipped out of the dormitory. He didn't plan to take Ron or Hermione with him, and they didn't ask for permission, even though Ron had been looking at him lovingly during dinner today - he had never been so enthusiastic even when looking at chicken legs.

Filch's footsteps were heavy.

Mrs. Lowrys—the cat he had had a very strong odor.

There were no other professors inspecting.

Going on a night out during term time was easier than Harry thought.

They soon arrived at the Forbidden Forest, and ran into Hagrid who was patrolling the edge of the Forbidden Forest with a lantern - he had to keep an eye out for any daring little wizards or creatures that might sneak out of the Forbidden Forest.

Fang seemed to have sensed something and shrank behind Hagrid. It did not come out from under Hagrid's legs until Harry walked away.

As a Black Forest that is home to a large number of magical creatures, its environment opened Harry's eyes.

I had only walked in a short distance.

You see a group of sleeping Horkrups, a mushroom with a pink hat and a beard, which looks very much like a magical plant, but it is classified as a magical animal.

When they gather in large numbers, they can also cause some trouble to wizards.

Harry sneaked over and picked two flowers, which were one of the ingredients for making a healing potion.

You can also see some common wild animal traces on the edge, such as deer, bears, wolves...

But if you go a little deeper, these ordinary creatures will disappear completely.

He saw some new traces - horse hoof prints, but it was difficult to tell whether they were from a centaur or a unicorn. There was no such content in the books he could see now.

There is also a group of blue insects, whose individual existence is almost impossible to observe with the naked eye, but their magical aura is huge.

This is the Billywig worm, a 3X-level magical creature that, if stung by it, will cause you to float uncontrollably in the air.

Harry saw many other creatures as well.

Thestrals, Murtras...

But he never encountered the two-horned beast he wanted to see the most.

Harry sneaked back to his dormitory just before curfew, and slept for less than two hours before waking up when some noises began to be heard in the dormitory.

"Harry? Are you awake?" Ron was the first to notice Harry's movement.

Harry nodded.

Ron came over: "How is it?"

"No." Harry replied in a low voice, "Don't worry, take your time."

Every weekend night, he would go to the Forbidden Forest - and every time he would reap a lot of rewards, including various herbs, materials, and even unicorn hair.

But there has been no progress on the Bicorn front.

Hermione and Ron were very concerned about this matter, but soon they no longer cared about it.

January seems to just give freshmen a post-holiday buffer.

All subjects progressed at an incredible speed.

In the Transfiguration class, they began to learn the transformation of objects and creatures. They needed to try to turn a piece of wood into a mouse - this made most little wizards complain.

Many people can't even make wood into the shape of a mouse.

Professor McGonagall was stern.

Especially after seeing Harry's learning progress, she was very dissatisfied with his slow performance, and with a wave of her hand, she assigned a seven-inch paper - except for Harry, who only had to write a three-inch one.

This made the little lions wail again.

Although they still had Hermione's homework to copy - but it was not as comfortable to copy two people's homework as one person's.

The spells class also began to experiment with the accuracy of spellcasting.

The young wizards finally understood why Professor Flitwick was the only one who taught two lessons on magic theory in the first two classes of school.

The content they left behind became their most difficult stumbling block.

They have to try different forms of spells - for example, facing two doors, cast a locking spell to open only one of them while leaving the other door unaffected by the magic.

Seamus was probably the best little wizard besides Harry, even Hermione was not as good as him. He only succeeded in opening one door - although the other door exploded.

Snape's class became the nightmare of all young wizards.

They no longer brewed potions with ordinary herbal formulas, but began to brew some magical materials. This was very difficult, and even the same material could have completely different magical manifestations.

The recipe on the blackboard does not guarantee that the cooking will be successful.

Even Harry would make some mistakes and be caught by Snape and ridiculed.

The Herbal Medicine class became the class with the most problems.

Magical plants are much more difficult to deal with than magic potions.

In every class, Professor Sprout has to take great pains to rescue the little wizards entangled by magical plants, or give extra points to those little wizards who lend a helping hand.
