Chapter 299 Memory

"Why do you say that about him?" Sirius frowned, "I know exactly what kind of person Regulus is."

"He's not as evil as Snape."

"But he is definitely not a good guy. He couldn't wait to join the Death Eaters before graduation. Even Snape joined the Death Eaters after graduation."

"But he is..."

At this point, he looked at Kreacher with disgust: "He is the proudest heir of the Black family."

"This evil, corrupt, seedy Black family."

Kreacher clenched his small fist.

Harry took the wand and tapped the Sorting Hat lightly. Slytherin's locket flew out and landed steadily on the table. "Professor Dumbledore found traces of a Horcrux. We went to look for it. Professor Dumbledore suffered a lot."

"But we found that someone had already gotten there first."

"The Horcrux was taken away, leaving behind a fake one that was replaced."

Kreacher was shocked and looked at the locket in disbelief.

Harry waved his wand again, the box opened, and the note flew out and landed in Sirius's hand: "There is only this note in it."

"It's Regulus' handwriting." Sirius recognized it at a glance.

No matter how much he disliked the other Blake, he was still his brother after all.

The text was not long, so he quickly finished reading it. He looked up in astonishment and looked at his godson: "He...he?"

Harry nodded. "We speculate that the Black family was entrusted by Voldemort to keep this Horcrux, but Regulus discovered that perhaps..."

"No, that's not it," Kreacher cried.

All three of them turned their eyes to the elderly house-elf who seemed a little crazy.

"Kreacher, what do you know?" Dumbledore asked with concern. He stretched out his hand, gently pinched it, and sprinkled magic on it to calm its emotions.

Harry conjured a stool for it.

Kreacher sat down: "The Dark Lord, he did not give the locket to the young master for safekeeping."

"The young master discovered it himself. He is very smart and perceptive."

The three of them listened quietly, even Sirius was able to keep his temper.

"Sirius is a bad boy." Kreacher spoke of past events in a gentle tone that he had never used before. "He was very naughty. Ever since he entered Gryffindor College, he has always made the mistress angry. The house is always in a mess because of him."

"The hostess is very unhappy."

"But fortunately, he will leave this house soon. The Black family still has a good boy like Regulus. He is very well-behaved and never makes the mistress angry."

"Then at the age of sixteen, under the encouragement of the mistress, Regulus became a Death Eater and served the Dark Lord with honor."

"But it was at that time that the young master seldom came home. At that time, Kreacher was not like he is now. Kreacher devoted all his energy to this family. The young master seldom came back, but this was also his home. Unlike Sirius, this was no longer his home. That Potter was his home."

"The young master also likes Kreacher very much. He trusts Kreacher very much and is willing to tell Kreacher everything."

"From how much he has come to worship the Dark Lord, the purebloods will reach another peak under his leadership."

"Later, the young master began to feel lost. The Dark Lord he understood and the Dark Lord he saw with his own eyes were two completely opposite people."

“Does all that rampant killing really make sense?”

Speaking of this.

Kreacher's face was full of confusion. He was just a house-elf longing for his master and didn't understand these things.

Sirius was silent, shrinking back into the sofa.

Harry and Dumbledore remained calm.

Kreacher tilted his head and continued, "Kreacher doesn't understand. Kreacher is a bad house-elf. The little master is sad every day, but Kreacher can't do anything."

"Until one day, the little master came back... He said the Dark Lord needed a house-elf."

"Of course, making contributions to the Dark Lord is what every Death Eater pursues."

"Kreacher is very brave. Even though he was the Dark Lord, Kreacher still signed up bravely. Maybe this will make the little master happy? Kreacher was wrong. Kreacher made the biggest mistake. Kreacher killed the little master with his own hands."

Sirius stared at Kreacher in disbelief.

He almost jumped up and pounced on the elf to strangle it to death.

But he raised his hand several times and stopped the action - he had finally learned to use his brain a little. It was impossible for a house-elf to kill its master. Maybe there was some other reason, so he chose to continue listening.

Harry and Dumbledore were both relieved.

Kreacher continued, "Kreacher was taken by the Dark Lord to a cave by the sea. Deep in the cave was a large black lake. In the center of the lake was an island with a potion on it."

"The Dark Lord made Kreacher drink it."

"Kreacher was very obedient. That thing was terrible. Kreacher felt like he was being burned on a fire. A lot of painful things came to his mind. Kreacher was clumsy when he first became a house-elf. He didn't serve the mistress well. The little mistress became depressed day by day. Sirius quarreled with the mistress, and then left this house and never came back..."

"Kreacher wanted the young master to save Kreacher, but the Dark Lord ignored a lowly house-elf like me. He put a box, the box on the table, into the basin and left."

"Kreacher nearly died there."

"Fortunately, the young master asked Kreacher to go back, and Kreacher came back."

Harry asked, "Is it the one on the table or a locket that looks very similar to the one on the table that was put in the basin at that time?"

"It's the one that looks very similar." Kreacher answered immediately. He looked at Harry with very gentle eyes, at least much gentler than he looked at Sirius. "Although the Dark Lord told Kreacher not to tell anyone about this, the Dark Lord is not Kreacher's master. Kreacher's master is only the young master."

"Kreacher told the little master about it. Kreacher thought the little master would be happy."

"But the young master was even more unhappy. He told Kreacher not to leave, not even to clean the house, and then he disappeared. He didn't come back until a long time later."

Kreacher cried, "The young master looked very haggard and mentally unstable after returning. He asked Kreacher to take him to the cave where the Dark Lord had been."

Harry and Dumbledore were silent.

The locket was here, Kreacher was here, and they could imagine what was going on.

"The poison was supposed to be drunk by Kreacher, but the young master didn't. He drank the poison himself and took out the locket, asking Kreacher to replace it. It also ordered Kreacher to return home and stay at home. He couldn't tell anyone about it, not even the mistress. It also ordered Kreacher to destroy it by all means, even at the cost of his own life."

Its tone turned horrified.

"Just at this moment, a riot broke out in the Black Lake. A large group of Inferi, those things at the bottom of the lake, rushed over."

"Kreacher watched helplessly as the little master was dragged down and then became part of them."

Sirius clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, "You didn't take Regulus away with you? Using your house-elf magic? You've left before!"

Kreacher held his head: "Kreacher is an incompetent elf. Kreacher can't do it."

"Kreacher can't do that."

Dumbledore explained: "There is a spell there that prohibits human apparition."

"Even Fawkes can't Apparate me in with him. Human wizards are forbidden."

Sirius was silent, staring at the note.

"Do you still have the locket you took?" Harry asked quietly.

Kreacher nodded: "Kreacher has been working hard over the years, but Kreacher is an incompetent elf. Kreacher can't do anything."

"It was powerful. Kreacher couldn't destroy it."

"We can destroy it," Harry said. "Give it to us."

Kreacher raised his head and looked at Harry defiantly.

"Kreacher, this is an order!" Sirius gritted his teeth, "Deliver the things to Harry and Professor Dumbledore."

"They've been fighting you know... they've been fighting Voldemort."

"It has even destroyed several Horcruxes."

Kreacher stood up and muttered, "Kreacher has been keeping it with him, especially since that thief came over. He always looked at everything in the Black family with ill intentions. Kreacher had to make sure that the things were not stolen by him."

It popped away.

Sirius collapsed on the sofa, "I never understood Regulus."

"he……"

"He's an excellent Hogwarts," Dumbledore spoke for him, "and an excellent Slytherin."

Sirius tilted his head back and closed his eyes. "Harry, have you found Regulus?"

"He, he needs a funeral."

Harry said gently, "I'm sorry, Godfather, but when we were there the Inferi at the bottom of the Black Lake were taken away."

"By Voldemort?" asked Sirius.

Harry nodded and nasally said, "Yeah."

"Harry, I'm glad you've got me," Sirius went on softly. "If it weren't for you, I don't know what I would have done."

"Take me with you to your dueling lesson against Neville, okay?"

Harry nodded again: "We have always needed a professor to guide us."

"You guided me." Sirius clenched his fists.

He paused and whispered, "Regulus Black."

"I seem to understand my mother suddenly."

"Kreacher is right, he is an excellent heir to the Black family."

He tried hard to hold it in, gritting his teeth.

With a snap——

Kreacher soon returned, holding an even finer Slytherin locket in his hand, which he clenched tightly in his hand. "Kreacher brought this thing."

"Kreacher wants to make a request. Kreacher wants to see you destroy this thing with his own eyes."
