Chapter 23: Demons Dance

Kyle chose a maple pudding.

This pudding is highly recommended by Bill and Charlie, who say that it is rare to find such authentic pudding anywhere else except Hogwarts.

Kyle took a bite and found that it tasted really good, with just the right sweetness, fresh fragrance and delicious taste. The perfect sourness was the finishing touch, making it perfect as a dessert after dinner.

After everyone had finished eating, the remaining desserts were cleared away and the table became clean, tidy and spotless again.

Dumbledore stood up and silence returned to the hall.

"Everyone should be full now, but before you go back to your dorms, I have a few words to say."

"First-year students, please note that the forested area on the school grounds is off-limits to any student."

"Also..." Dumbledore paused and continued, "Professor McGonagall also asked me to remind everyone not to use magic props in the classroom or any public area, otherwise you will be severely punished."

As soon as he finished speaking, nearly half of the people in the hall subconsciously looked at Fred and George from Gryffindor.

The twins did not show any stage fright. They stood up and kept bowing to the people around them. They looked so proud, as if Dumbledore was praising them.

Not far away, Professor McGonagall's face was as ugly as it could be, and her lips were pursed even tighter.

From the look on her face, it was clear that the twins were likely to be put in solitary confinement, and it would certainly not be for a short time.

Dumbledore looked calm as he continued, "The review of Quidditch players will be held in the second week of this semester. Students who are in their second year or above and are interested in joining the house team please contact Ms. Hodge."

As expected, I still have to be in the second grade...

Since he already knew this result, Kyle didn't feel disappointed.

Moreover, even though Dumbledore said so, it does not mean that first-year students cannot participate in Quidditch selection.

The reason for excluding the first grade is to take care of the young wizards of Muggle origin. They have never been exposed to Quidditch before. If the team members are selected at this time, it will be too unfair to them.

After one school year, they will be familiar with the magical world, and this is the perfect time for selection.

Of course, if there are really good talents, the deans would not mind using a little bit of privilege, just like Harry Potter did a year later.

So Kyle planned to try his luck with Professor Sprout in a couple of days to see if he could be selected with the second-year students.

If we really weren't allowed to fly for a year, that would be too torturous.

"Quiet……"

Dumbledore had to raise his voice to silence the group of young wizards in the audience who were extremely excited about Quidditch.

"Finally, I have the honor of introducing our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."

Dumbledore turned sideways and extended his hand towards the teachers' seats.

"Professor Oren, please say hello to everyone."

Next to Snape, an unprepossessing middle-aged wizard stood up, smiled and waved to everyone.

There were a few cold and sparse applause in the auditorium. Except for the first-year students who clapped enthusiastically, the students in other grades were not very interested.

He's just a professor who's only available once a year. Why be so enthusiastic? He'll have to be replaced next year anyway. Just be perfunctory for Dumbledore's sake.

Professor Oren didn't care either, as if he had already guessed this result. He greeted them and sat back down.

But whether it was out of disappointment or embarrassment, Professor Oren moved his chair a little too much, his body tilted, and his elbow hit Snape's waist squarely.

"hiss!"

Snape took a deep breath and gripped the armrests of the chair tightly with both hands, thus trying not to scream out.

"I don't think we know each other well enough to call each other by our first names, Professor Oren.

Besides, I'm not so fragile that I need to go to the school hospital if I'm just touched, so you don't need to worry about it."

Snape moved his chair to the side, and a flash of disgust flashed across his eyes, as if he had seen a philoprogenitor caterpillar that had been squeezed clean of its mucus and had no medicinal value left.

Professor Oren looked a little embarrassed. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something else.

But at this time Dumbledore had finished talking about Hogsmeade village and began to direct the young wizards to sing the school song.

A long golden ribbon floated in the sky, and soon a variety of tunes filled the auditorium.

Oren could only swallow what he wanted to say and sang along with everyone in the bard's chanting style.

Hogwarts,

Hogwarts,

Hogwarts,

Hogwarts,

Give us knowledge, whether we are old men with bald heads or children with broken knees.

A good school song was sung by everyone like it was a concert, with all kinds of tunes being used.

Among them, the ones that appear most frequently are "Glorious Hippogriff" and "Symphony of Fate", which are also the choices of most young wizards.

As for Kyle, he used "The Road to Heaven is Wide and Broad."

The choices were varied, but if we had to say who sang the happiest song, it would definitely be the Weasley twins.

Fred and George linked their arms around each other and sang the school song to the tune of "Flight of the Bumblebee" and danced happily.

Their action attracted a lot of attention, and the cheerful Gryffindor students soon joined in spontaneously, turning the original school song into a dance of demons.

But I have to admit that they looked really happy. Even Dumbledore on the stage couldn't help but dance a little along.

After the school song ended, Fred and George received the warmest applause from the audience.

"How beautiful! This is the purpose of the school song." Dumbledore adjusted his slightly crooked wizard hat and said with a smile, "It's bedtime now. Let's go back to the dormitory."

When the party was over, everyone rushed to the door of the auditorium.

The class leaders quickly took action and tried to bring together the freshmen from their respective colleges.

"First-year students, come over here."

"Don't push, let the freshmen go first, let the first-year students go first!"

"Hurry up, freshmen, we have to hurry."

"Is everyone here? Remember to follow me and don't fall behind."
