Chapter 278 Lockhart's Play

"Tsk tsk...unexpected..."

Half an hour later, Lockhart collected the test papers and looked through them on the spot.

"Many people remember that I like the color lilac, which is good...but why don't you remember that my greatest achievement so far is winning the Witch Weekly Most Attractive Smile Award five times? I just said that."

He winked at his classmates again.

Although a small number of die-hard fans immediately covered their chests with their hands, breathing rapidly, with blurred eyes, and looking as if they had drunk fake alcohol, most people still didn't fall for his tricks.

Katie Bell from Gryffindor was sitting in front of Connor. When Lockhart was talking, she lowered her head, shrugged her shoulders, and laughed so hard that her whole body was shaking.

Mikel and Ryan also had a hard time enduring.

"But……"

Lockhart's voice suddenly became much higher, "Miss Mirelle Sinise knows that my birthday is January 26th... Good girl!"

"In fact..." He turned the paper over, "One hundred points. Where is this outstanding little witch?"

A trembling hand was raised from the front row. It was the student that Kyle had chosen at first sight.

"Excellent!" said Lockhart, smiling. "Excellent! Ten points for Gryffindor!"

"It's a pity that two other students only answered 53 questions correctly."

Lockhart held out two papers. "I think they should read Running with Trolls again... I make it clear in Chapter 9 that my secret ambition is to rid the world of evil and sell my own line of hair conditioner... not toothpaste.

But toothpaste is also a good choice, I will consider adding it to the "Lockhart series."

Kanna lowered her head and gently hit Kyle under the desk.

Obviously, those two test papers were theirs.

Originally, Connor wrote hair conditioner, but when she saw Kyle confidently write toothpaste, she changed it, and the result became what it is now.

"It's obviously your own will that is weak..."

Kyle muttered quietly, "And if you get full marks you'll be called out, so this is good."

"Now, let's get back to the point..."

Lockhart put the paper aside and then picked up... a book.

Originally, Lockhart had brought some Cornish elves to give a surprise to the little wizards who were attending their first class.

But yesterday in the second grade class, he realized that this surprise was a little too exciting, and it ended up turning into a fright.

The whole classroom was in a mess because of the elves, and even his own wand was thrown out of the window.

He used the excuse of helping to clear out pests yesterday and searched for a long time in the bushes before he found it.

After that incident, Lockhart realized that he probably wouldn't be able to perform those fancy operations anymore.

Besides, third graders are much harder to fool than second graders.

So today he plans to play it safe.

When the students saw the book "Traveling with Vampires" in his hand, they all frowned, even the die-hard fans were no exception.

As soon as they saw the book, they couldn't help but think of the days last year when they were dominated by Professor Quirrell's "reading class", and a faint smell of garlic wafted to their noses.

"Merlin's beard... I don't think we have to study again this year!" said a Gryffindor next to Kyle in pain.

And there are many people like him.

Lockhart quickly told them the answer.

The good news is that they don't have to read stupid books anymore...but the bad news is that they have to act this time.

Lockhart weaved the content of his book into a dramatic segment and had the students perform it together, like some kind of alternative stage play.

To be honest, this is worse than studying... Unfortunately Lockhart doesn't think so.

He probably thought that this way of performing could better highlight his bravery.

The first person Lockhart thought of was the most famous student in the class... Kyle, who was awarded the Order of Merlin, Second Class.

“It must be great to have him as a foil for me.”

"Oh, and that second-year Harry Potter is pretty good too."

Lockhart thought so in his mind and did so.

He called Kyle to the podium and decided that he would play the vampire in the book.

"Professor, can I ask you a question before the performance?" Kyle said.

"Ask me anything. I'll give you a hundred," said Lockhart, smoothing his hair to make himself look as close to the book as possible.

Kyle casually opened the book "Traveling with Vampires" and glanced at it.

"In this part... you used the Sunshine Spell to easily repel the vampire that pounced on you..."

"But professor, I'm curious...what is the effect of the Sunlight Charm? Is it an enhanced version of the Illumination Charm?"

"That's a new spell," said Lockhart, laughing. "The Illumination Charm doesn't give off that bright a light."

For a moment...the Gryffindor students were fine, but all the Hufflepuffs looked at Mikel in the middle of the classroom.

They still remember clearly... the explosive light that suddenly appeared in the classroom during their first Charms class two years ago.

If there really is a sunshine spell...it's probably just this.

But Mikel was completely unaware of this... He fainted after reciting the spell and had no idea what happened next.

At the podium, Kyle continued, "Can you show us a demo?"

"Um..." Lockhart was a little speechless: "Next time... This spell is not suitable for use in the classroom..."

"What about this..." Kyle flipped through a few more pages, "You used the levitation spell to condense the seawater and trap the vampire. This should be demonstrable."

Lockhart fell silent again.

But it wasn't over yet. Kyle continued flipping through the book and asked, "Also, why are vampires not afraid of garlic, but afraid of amulets soaked in garlic juice..."

"Why do you want to travel by ship? Isn't it better to Apparate?"

"Also, how did you manage to make vampires eat only carrots..."

"Is that vampire still alive?"

"If it's still alive, have you ever considered publishing the method? After all, solving the problem of them sucking blood is equivalent to solving the problem of werewolves transforming on a full moon night. You will receive the first-class medal of the Order of Merlin!"

"Oh, right..."

Kyle seemed really prepared to ask a hundred questions, and the series of whys made Lockhart feel a lot more confused.

He simply stole this story from an old wizard. The only thing he did was to cast a forgetfulness spell on the other party and made a certain degree of artistic processing to the whole story. How could he possibly know so many details?

Lockhart looked at the increasingly curious eyes of the people around him, and felt panic in his heart. He quickly stopped Kyle from talking incessantly.

"Okay, okay...close the book."

"While I don't mind answering these questions, other students still have to go to class."

"Just think of this as my homework. Think about it yourself. Of course, if you still don't understand it by the end of the school year, I will tell you the answer."

Lockhart cleverly covered up the matter, then found an excuse to send Kyle back, and replaced him with another, seemingly honest little Hufflepuff wizard to perform the play with him.

If Kyle were allowed to stay any longer, who knows what else he might ask. The risk is too great.
