Chapter 335: Newt the Loser

This place is sparsely populated, with only a beautiful wooden house in the middle of the forest, where lives Newt Scamander, a famous magical animal expert in the wizarding world.

In the early morning, a burst of explosions broke the tranquility of the forest.

On a tree not far away, an evil bird poked its head out, and several strange-looking beetles crawled out from several tree holes and lined up to crawl into another tree hole.

Dobby looked around nervously. When he first arrived here, he inexplicably felt a sense of danger. The trembling feeling made him subconsciously want to escape from here and run far away.

Fortunately, that feeling disappeared very quickly, as if it had never appeared.

Kyle walked it down a cobblestone path, knocked on the door and entered the cabin.

Newt and Tina had received the news in advance and were waiting in the room.

"Dear, is this the house-elf you mentioned in the letter?" Tina looked at the two of them and asked.

"Hello, ma'am, my name is Dobby, and I'm a free house-elf." Dobby bowed.

"Hello, Dobby, nice to meet you." Tina smiled.

Dobby was so excited by this that he bowed so quickly that his long nose almost touched the floor.

Tina didn't object to Kyle bringing a house-elf.

Just like he said in the letter, Newt is really old and it would be nice to have an extra helper.

But Newt himself doesn't think so.

He felt that he was fully capable of taking care of those magical animals and didn't need any help at all.

Unfortunately, he has no say in this family, and Tina never asked for his opinion from beginning to end.

Look, he is still sulking beside me... although this is also useless.

The atmosphere of the first meeting was quite harmonious. Tina stood up and walked in front of Dobby.

"I agree to hire you. Your job is to take care of some difficult magical animals."

"No problem. Dobby has taken care of cruppies and peacocks before."

A crup? A peacock?

Tina raised an eyebrow and glanced at Kyle, "Didn't you tell it anything before?"

"I told him." Kyle spread his hands, "but he was too excited to listen."

"never mind……"

Tina waved her hand, and Newt naturally opened the box and put it on the ground.

"Come with me, I'll show you around first." She said to Dobby, "This job may not be what you think. You can decide whether to stay after you have seen it."

Tina stepped into the box.

Dobby didn't care at first and even felt that he was being looked down upon.

It's just taking care of magical animals. It's very experienced in this. And what can such a big box hold? At most, it can hold cats and dogs.

The crup dog of its previous owner would bite it every time, but it was still able to successfully complete a series of tasks such as feeding, bathing, and combing its hair.

Dobby didn't think there was any animal more vicious than that crup.

These two people are so kind and respectful, the animals they raise must be very docile...

"oh!"

As she was thinking about it, Dobby followed Tina into the box.

In less than a second, it was so frightened that it jumped up, then fell heavily to the ground, and its two short legs tumbled around before it rolled and crawled into the corner.

It was that horrible feeling I had at the door before...it was even stronger this time!

Looking at the countless magical animals around him, Dobby felt a black screen in front of his eyes and almost fainted.

Especially the six-legged cat on the cliff not far away... no, it is much bigger than a cat.

Whatever it was, being stared at by those azure eyes made Dobby feel like a turkey about to be put into the oven, with no secrets left to hide.

"Just like what you see."

Tina said: "Your job is to act as Newt's assistant and take care of these magical animals, and this is just a small part.

How about it, do you agree?"

Dobby's ears moved. What did he hear just now?

Not a servant, but a wizard's assistant? Dobby got up from the ground, and his legs stopped shaking.

"Dear Madam, Dobby is willing to be your assistant."

"You have to think it over carefully." Tina glanced at it.

"This is only a small part. There are fire dragons, leopards, and horse-shaped water monsters in the distance..."

Hearing the word fire dragon, Dobby shuddered subconsciously, but still stood there forcefully.

"Dobby can, Dobby is not afraid of dragons!"

Tina smiled.

In fact, with Newt here, there won't be any danger here, it's more like doing some odd jobs.

Back then, Jacob, a man who didn't know magic, could come and go freely here, let alone the house-elves.

Of course, the prerequisite is that it has to overcome its own psychological barrier. It is not okay to faint from fright after seeing a fire dragon.

"Then the next thing is salary."

Dobby's eyes lit up.

"How about twenty Galleons a week..." Tina thought for a moment and gave a number.

Dobby sat down on the ground again, he was frightened. It seemed that in his eyes, the number of twenty Galleons was more terrifying than the fire dragon.

"No, no, that's too much." Dobby shook his head repeatedly and insisted on only one Sickle per week.

This time it was Tina's turn to frown.

As Scamander's assistant, one Sickle a week? If other wizards knew this, they would think the Scamander family couldn't afford the assistant's salary! "One Sickle is absolutely not enough, at least ten Galleons!"

Dobby, who had just climbed up, fell to the ground again. He was about to say something else, but found that Tina had a stern face.

Then the matter was settled, and Dobby didn't say another word.

Kyle silently gave a thumbs up beside him.

As expected of an Auror who had arrested the "Scourge of the Wizarding World" and trapped him for more than seventy years, Tina only needed a look to make the poor house-elf shut up and accept the weekly salary of ten Galleons.

But why does this sound so weird, as if Sickle is the biggest currency in the wizarding world.

Then there are other small issues.

For example, Tina only allows Dobby to work in the box, not outside the box.

Especially the machines for making cookies and bread in the kitchen, she refused to allow Dobby to get close to them, even for a step.

Dobby agreed... Of course, it couldn't refuse.

During the whole process, Newt just stood aside, without saying a word, just staring at Kyle quietly.

"Ahem... I'm doing this for your own good."

Kyle felt uncomfortable being looked at by him and said, "Nicolas Flamel has a house-elf butler named Tata, and Professor Dumbledore also has more than a hundred elves to help him make tea.

You are friends with them, so you have to get along with them.”
