Chapter 391: Mrs. Puddifu, the Sugar-making Master

Christmas is getting closer.

One morning, the muddy field was covered with a layer of crystal white frost, and the castle was filled with a busy Christmas atmosphere.

Professor Lupin placed several small Christmas trees in the classroom, with various candies hung on them, and the little wizards could take them at will.

Kyle estimated that this was probably the biggest expense Professor Lupin had made this semester.

There is also Professor Flitwick, who decorated the Charms classroom with colorful lights. When people approach, they will turn into thumb-sized elves and fly around the classroom with their wings flapping.

The trip to Hogsmeade was scheduled for the last weekend before the end of the semester.

Fred and George did not set out with the others. They decided to create a festive atmosphere for Harry, so they stayed in the castle for the time being. Hogsmeade before Christmas looked like a Christmas card. The thatched cottages and shops were covered with a layer of newly fallen snow, holly wreaths were hung on the doors, and the trees were decorated with strings of enchanted candles.

The last time they came, they had basically bought everything they needed, so Cedric suggested going to see the only shop they hadn't been to... Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop.

As if it had been discussed in advance, Qiu agreed immediately and also brought Kanna and Kyle along.

"Penelope said it was the best place to visit in Hogsmeade," she said. "We haven't been there before."

Kanna was immediately interested.

Kyle followed behind, looking at Cedric with a scrutinizing look.

"How did you want to go there?" he asked.

"What?" Cedric turned his head away, as if he didn't understand anything. "I'm just curious. After all, in the whole Hogwarts, we have only not been to Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop and the Shrieking Shack."

"Really..." Kyle's voice rose slightly, "But as far as I know, only couples go there, right? You haven't heard of it?"

"No, no..." Cedric stammered, and then changed the subject abruptly, "Do you think Fred and George will not be able to find us after they come..."

When he said this, his ears turned red.

Kyle did not continue to talk, and followed his words to explain: "You don't need to worry about this at all. The first thing they did when they arrived in Hogsmeade was to go to Zuko for an hour. How could they have time to look for us?"

"Ha, that's true."

So, they crossed the main road and came to the door of the small teahouse.

There was a notice on the door, and Qiu read out what it said.

"Ministry of Magic Order

Customers please note that unless otherwise notified, Dementors will patrol the streets of Hogsmeade every day at sunset. This measure is to protect the safety of residents and will not be lifted until Sirius Black is arrested...

Merry Christmas!"

Kyle also saw what was on the notice.

It seems that the Ministry of Magic must have received some news and transferred most of the Dementors here.

Too bad it wasn't very useful... If Kyle was right, Black should have been out of Hogsmeade long ago.

No one else cared.

The notice clearly stated that Dementors would only patrol the streets at sunset, and it was still daytime now.

Qiu pushed open the door of the teahouse.

It was really small, with just a few small round tables, and it was so foggy inside that it seemed as if everything was decorated with ruffles and bows.

Because the table was too small, they could only sit separately in two adjacent empty seats.

"What would you like to order?" Mrs Puddifoot asked as she came over.

She was a little plump, with a shiny black bun, and she squeezed in between two tables with difficulty.

Kanna, who had been looking forward to this place before, now had a red face and obviously noticed the strangeness in the teahouse.

There are couples here, holding hands.

But now that she was there, she still sat down next to Kyle with a blushing face.

Mrs. Puddifoot soon arrived with four cups floating in the air.

A layer of white jelly is spread on the brown coffee, which looks pretty good.

Kyle took a tentative sip and then put the cup down.

For a moment, he wondered if Mrs. Puddifoot was secretly in love with Dumbledore.

This coffee is blended entirely according to the principal's taste.

It was as sweet as a cup of pure syrup, and he couldn't taste any coffee flavor at all.

Even the slight bitter taste is more like concentrated syrup.

This candy-making technique would make even the house elves feel ashamed...

They stayed in the teahouse for a while, and Kanna suddenly came up to Kyle and asked in a low voice, "Is there anything else here?"

Like Kyle, her cup of coffee was also full, and she took a sip and didn't touch it again.

The two have similar tastes and neither of them likes things that are too sweet.

Kyle shook his head. He didn't know what kind of drinks were available here, but if even coffee could be made like this, then black tea wouldn't be much better.

After thinking for a moment, Kyle asked, “How about we go to the Three Broomsticks.

Order a glass of butter beer, a plate of pine nut biscuits and two baked meat pies... I left too early today and I haven't had breakfast yet."

When Kanna heard about grilled meat pies, her eyes lit up, "Okay!"

The two looked at each other and stood up at the same time.

"Should we call them?" Connor asked Cedric and Qiu beside her.

"Forget it." Kyle shook his head.

I don't know what the two of them were talking about, and they didn't notice anything wrong around them.

"That's true." Kanna covered her mouth and smiled.

Kyle went to pay, and the two quietly left the teahouse and walked towards the Three Broomsticks.

On the way, Connor looked at the cup of coffee in Kyle's hand and asked in confusion, "Don't you dislike this? Why did you buy another cup?"

"This..." Kyle looked at the cup in his hand and said, "This is not for me to drink. It's a Christmas gift for Professor Dumbledore."

"Professor Dumbledore?" Connor hesitated, "Will he like this taste?"

"Of course." Kyle nodded and said, "If you observe carefully, you will find that Professor Dumbledore always eats more desserts every time he attends a banquet.

And the last time I went to the headmaster's office, he was recommending a frosted pudding to Professor Snape.

That's Honeydukes' new product, just as cloyingly sweet, so I think this coffee would suit his taste."

"Is that so? I've never noticed it before." Kanna blinked.

Then she remembered something and looked back in the direction of the teahouse thoughtfully.
