Chapter 443: 12 Grimmauld Place

After getting what he wanted, Kyle left without stopping. However, he did not return to St. Catchpole Village, but went to London at the invitation of Sirius Black.

Late at night, the two appeared at Grimmauld Place, not far from King's Cross.

Kyle was thinking about what Sirius had just said in his mind. Just as he thought of number 12 Grimmauld Place, a tattered door appeared out of nowhere between numbers 11 and 13.

The Black family's mansion is also where Sirius lives now, a place protected by the Fidelius Charm.

Although Fudge promised that he would transfer all the Dementors and the Aurors responsible for capturing him, Sirius still felt that it would be relatively safer to live here.

He pulled out his wand and knocked on the door, and Kyle heard a lot of loud metallic sounds and what sounded like a chain rattling.

The door creaked open.

"Come in," said Sirius.

Kyle stepped over the threshold and into the nearly dark hallway. The room was damp and had a lingering smell of decay.

"No one has lived here for a long time. I plan to clean it up before Harry comes."

Sirius' voice came from behind him.

Then Kyle heard a rustling sound, and then the row of old-fashioned gas lamps on the wall came on, casting a wavering, unreal light on the flaking wallpaper and frayed, threadbare carpet in the hallway.

Kyle touched a nearby table and immediately a thick layer of dust covered his fingers.

"It's not easy to clean here, and a lot of things need to be replaced."

"Yes, take your time." Sirius said, "I originally wanted to take Harry over in a few days, but Dumbledore told me that the rat needs to be revived for a month in order to recover.

Plus the trial process, it’s too late to do it during this holiday, we have to wait until Christmas, so there is plenty of time.”

With a sound of hurried footsteps, Lupin came out of a door at the other end of the hall and strode towards them.

"Oh, Kyle, it's so nice to see you," he said with a smile.

"Me too, Professor," Kyle said.

"I'm not a professor anymore. You can call me Lupin, or Moony."

Kyle was about to speak, but suddenly noticed that a pair of eyes as big as tennis balls were staring at them from the cabinet not far behind Lupin.

It was a house-elf. He looked very old, with loose skin piled up together, a bald head, a lot of white hair growing in his big bat-like ears, and a big fleshy nose, almost like a pig's nose.

To be honest, in front of him, Dobby can be called a handsome elf.

"That's Kreacher, a house-elf," said Sirius. "But he's gone mad and useless now, and that's why the house isn't in this state."

"Greetings, young master." Seeing that he was discovered, Kreacher bowed, and then in a voice that everyone could hear, he muttered: "...It smells like the smell of sewers and crime. The prodigal son is back. In addition to the werewolf, he brought a little cub to the mistress's house. Oh, what a shame, poor old Kreacher, what can he do..."

"Go away, Kreacher!" said Sirius impatiently.

"Okay, Master." Kreacher bowed again and dragged his feet out, but he didn't stop talking, "The Master is a disgusting, ungrateful, dirty bastard who broke his mother's heart, but Kreacher will still listen to him..."

"I'm sorry, Kyle." Sirius was so angry that he was shaking all over, but he still turned around and explained: "He stayed alone for too long, and received some crazy orders from my mother's portrait. He started talking to himself... and his mind became abnormal."

"Oh, it's okay." Kyle looked at the direction where Kreacher left, then waved his hand to show that he didn't mind.

"Come with me, I'll take you to a quiet place," said Sirius, "but don't make too much noise, otherwise..."

"Bang!"

Before Sirius could finish his words, he kicked over an umbrella stand and almost fell down. Fortunately, Kyle pulled him up from behind in time.

Lupin covered his face with his hands, looking somewhat helpless.

The next second, a terrible, blood-curdling scream flooded the entire house.

The two tattered and old velvet curtains behind her were inexplicably pulled open, revealing a portrait behind her. In the portrait, an old lady in a hat was screaming desperately.

"You beast, you slut, you prodigal, you are the shame of our family. Get out of here now! How dare you defile my ancestral home..."

The sharp curses seemed to deafen people's ears.

"Shut up!" Sirius reacted the fastest. He covered his ears, ran over in two steps, and grabbed the curtains on both sides.

Seeing him, the old lady turned pale.

But before she could speak again, Sirius yanked the curtain shut.

The curse died away, and a lingering silence followed.

"It seems that you have met my mother." Sirius smiled bitterly, "She didn't like me because I was sorted into Gryffindor, and when I ran away from home at the age of sixteen, her dislike turned into disgust.

But as long as you keep quiet when you pass by here, she won’t know there are people outside.”

"I didn't expect it to be so lively here." Kyle said with a smile.

"I don't think so," said Sirius. "Let's go, quickly, before she wakes up again."

Sirius led them through the corridor and into a relatively clean room.

This place is very large, with a grand round table in the middle. It looks like a reception room.

"If you want to study the box, this is the place to do it," said Sirius. "This house is protected by the Fidelius Charm. You can use any magic you want here and the Ministry won't know whose it is. The best they can do is find Grimmauld Place, and then they'll find there's no one there."

"Box? What box?" Lupin asked puzzledly.

"Don't ask me, Moony." Sirius rubbed his forehead, "To be honest, I have more doubts than you.

Can you believe it? Kyle just walked around the Lestrange ancestral home and found a very hidden box... He was so skilled at it that it looked like he was taking a piece of bread from the kitchen at home. "

Lupin was confused.

But then he saw that Kyle really took out a box and put it on the table.

"Is this something from the Lestrange family?"

“It used to be,” Kyle said.

He didn't explain too much, just looked at the two and said: "If you choose to stay, please remember to keep it a secret. No matter what happens here later, you can't tell anyone. Including Professor Dumbledore."

"Of course." Sirius nodded immediately, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

Although he still had a lot of doubts in his mind, it didn't matter... Looking at Kyle in front of him, for some reason, he suddenly had the illusion of returning to his student days.

That’s how they made the live map in secret without telling anyone... This feeling is so nostalgic.

Lupin hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

"That's good. Remember, you must keep it a secret." Kyle said with a smile, "Otherwise I will beat Harry. You know he can't beat me."
